Well did the patch help anyone?
Not for me, still sounds run much to low or high and the volume of those jump to the correct level if a slider is moved.
I'm still on a spot where i can perfectly repeat this, I deliver a quest to Elrond and his voice runs on a low level, moving tzhe main volume slider while he is talking makes his voice jump to the correct volume level.
But not only his voice, I can hear this for many other sounds like background music & ambient.

Will this ever be fixed? It totally ruins the atmosphere and it's a real pain in the &&& to constantly move the sliders to get the right volume levels.

I wonder if this problem is somehow related to the Blue Screen problem that was solved last your with the new Beta Creative drivers.

I am still having the issues you describe after the last patch.

    Yep.

The main volume slider seems to be fixed now, the main volume does not jump around like crazy anymore, but all the rest is still very buggy. Voice overs can often hardly be heared, even if the slider is at max. Ingame music comes and goes, is often way too soft.

Looks like 7.3 resolved my problems, at least I can't repeat the bugs I saw(better heard) before it.
Has someone still problems or sees(hears) something sound related that isn't working correctly?

PS Even the "shebing" when using the horses from the stable masters is back, YES!

I haven't had time to really dig in since before the patch, but immediately, if I access audio options from the character select screen and touch the main volume slider, I no longer have the music suddenly get louder. That suggests to me at least some of the issues have been addressed.

My music is now consistent session to session, and when crossing zones via land or swift travel/mapping.

Wish I could say the same. I'm still having problems with disappearing music replaced by birds chirping. After two years, I'm beginning to despair of its ever being fixed.

It is *better*, since now the music resumes when soft-zoning but it is not *fixed*; inevitably it happens again. I can't take more than 3 or 4 steps around Bree before it occurs, but then in some zones--like Thorin's Hall--I have yet to see it. It's beyond my ability to see a pattern in why or when it happens, just that it does and is one of my biggest gripes about the game in general.

    Thumbs up Big improvement

I agree that the most serious of these sound volume issues appears to be fixed. Now when the startup music plays, it plays at the level I had previously set in the Audio Options without having to move the slider bar - and appears to be consistently working, as least as far as I can tell. That was a major annoyance for me - and am so glad it was fixed!

I'm not saying the sound is perfect, but a major annoyance introduced a couple of updates ago appears to have been addressed with this last update.

So, after the update to Riders of Rohan, I've been playing for about 4 hours now, and my music hasn't dropped out once, nor have I heard those blasted birds!

I just want to give y'all a big thank you for fixing this (so far!). I know it seems a small issue but to some of us, it's a big one.

    Thanks, Turbine.

Yes the Rohan update improved the situation but I still have heaps of problems, music is far more consistent though some places I still get the music dropping out when I change zones and it gets replaced not by that bird chirping sound but by whatever sound. In mirkwood recently I got people chattering in the middle of nowhere.....and I have to adjust the volume sliders to restore music. And Rohan music doesn't loop properly, music plays but it stops after a few bars and silence for 10 seconds...then a totally different track begins and behaves just the same. Plays for a few seconds then winds down and stops.....It's incredibly annoying considering the epicness of the music in Rohan and it seems noone else has this problem I've tried tech support, reinstalling 3 times, updating audio drivers but nothing seems to work, it can't be something wrong on my end because my sound functions perfectly with any other game. Hopefully they'll go over the playback issues more throughly next update.
