Legendary Armour
I think we all have to admit that Legendary weapons are by far the best thing created for characters in lotro. However I feel that the armour that can be created by crafting and even sets that can be obtained in game are not going to hold up much longer. I have seen in large man instances that even with alot of dps, heals, ect characters take big hits. For some these hits can cause repair bills as much as 1G and can cause your fellowship/raid to fail because of the loss of a healer or other important rolls. There is the truth that lotro is growing and even with the max lvl being 75 and going beyond later at some point I dont think even the armour is going to be the greatest. I would like to see how many people would like to have legendary armour sets and would like turbine to possibly consider creating something for it's players based on the results.

I recently made a very very brief decision on how they could organize it:
As long as it is not a grind, but a thing that levels with you.Briefly, you would collect 6 pieces of armour, and for each piece of the same level obtained, you will gain the option to unlock a new set-bonus which you can increase its tier by using the points you earn...from each level it obtains perhaps? The choices can be ones currently found on 75 armour, and the good thing about this method is that the new set-bonuses can be added with upcoming expansions. No more need to grind seals endlessly for several sets of gear.

Re: Legendary Armour
I would agree to this had LI been implemented properly so that we'd never need to deconstruct and restart.

As if in answer there came from far away another note. Horns, horns, horns. In dark Mindolluin's sides they dimly echoed. Great horns of the North wildly blowing. Rohan had come at last.

Re: Legendary Armour
I dig. I wouldn't want to be rockin' a full set of legendary armour but maybe a real awesome pair of magic 2nd age elf boots would be fun. I have to agree what has been said about how generic the term "legendary" has become. Even with a limited knowledge of the lore, 1st and 2nd age weapons would have a tough time making it to eriador. I think personal upgradeable weaponry is awesome but I wish older didn't always mean better, or in the current state insanely op.

Re: Legendary Armour
As you can see from the replies to this thread, there are many of us who do not agree that so-called Legendary Weapons are the best thing ever created for our characters. I think that most of us thought the concept was great, but the implementation of it has fallen far short of our hopes and expectations. It's become a massive grind and, with the advent of the LOTRO Store, a major way for Turbine to milk us for dollars, pounds, or euros.
With that in mind, I think most of us cringe in horror at the thought of having legendary armour. As it is we will be obtaining war-horses with the upcoming RoR expansion which looks to be another massive grind like LIs.

Re: Legendary Armour
The system isn't perfect but I would love one more level of definition of play style. A Vit Cappy and a Heal Cappy are different in build to an extent but swapping jewelry and armour set is about it. Maybe a thick dwarven chestplate compared to a hardened set of elvish gauntlets could make each playstyle more unique and tailored.

Re: Legendary Armour
Mmm...
Let me guess, you get the critical components by doing raids, right?
I wish we could have a different choices to get as good equipment beyond doing raids, not all players like to do raids; thus variety would be greatly welcomed.
Also the crafting system as a game within the game, totally broken, no player can really make any money from crafting, must crafters can not even break even from making the things.
I would love to see Legendary Armor be constructable as a specialized form of Guild Armor, so production rates can be limited, and to use nothing scarcer than the Cracked Rhi Helvarch Sigil for T-7 level 75 items, and definetely walk away from raid drops to make them, perhaps have them instead of requiring a large rep item, to require a large, medium and small rep item for its construction along with a scarce drop as the sigil, and fragments.

Re: Legendary Armour
Agreed. I'd love to see a shift back to a more non-raid based economy. I know of a lot of very committed non-raiding players that deserve to profit from their crafting. I've been on both sides, before getting a raid-capable computer, crafting and soloing was not what I made cash on. I sold mats from time to time but was sad that even when I had gained mastery in a few crafts, I still made more money just selling the materials

Craftable vs. Raid Drop has with U6 has definitely narrowed the gap. A crafted geared 75 can almost be on par with a decent raider. Also the new rep gear is top tier. Flat out beats most t1 ToO and skraid stuff. Love it. And now with crystals can close the dps gap between 1st and 2nd agers.
Back on topic, crafted stuff is never gonna be as amazing as top tier raid gear. Otherwise what would be the drive to raid? I do love the point you bring up though, very important and certainly worth thought.

Re: Legendary Armour
I have a legendary knife ready. If I am ever faced with a legendary armour grind similar to the weapons one, I will use my legendary knife to commit suicide.

Re: Legendary Armour
I admit the idea sounds good and was suggested several times before.
But I do not see anyway it implement it.
If you have to do a raid to get the upgrade, why not just a new piece of gear instead?
If you make the upgrade something that is gained via SOLO play then there is no reason for raids anymore?
If you make it based on crafting then everyone will have the with in a few weeks. Except for those that only play one toon then they will be paying big dollars in the AH. Great for crafters but not for everyone else. Plus the rare item required will be on the AH like the scales are now.
So which problem do you add to the game?
I personal see no issues with the current design of quality of gear from lowest to highest:
Landscape drops
Quest rewards
Reputation
Crafted
Instance
Raid
The only major difference from Craft to instance is the set bonuses. But if you are a solo player you do NOT NEED the set bonuses. If you do 3 and 6 man groups but not raids you do NOT NEED the raid set bonus.
I think Turbine has done a great job of allowing you to pick the type of gear you get based on what you like to do in game.
My main has a full set of OT gear because he raids in OT.
Two alts have instance sets because they are doing the wings but not the final Saruman fight.
My others capped toons have a combination of rep, crafted and quest gear because they do not do the raids or even the fellowship stuff that often.
The key here is my toons are outfitted for what they do in the game. They do not have top gear just because they are level capped.
