Well, I already made that decision, as well as the one for Guild Wars 2. Those two have already claimed my gaming budget for the next several months, so the jury is still out on LOTRO. I must say the berserker hobbit waving a sword and screaming in the lower left of my screen is not helping LOTRO's case.

Meaning the game you supposedly bought will become useless. Which it already is when for some reason(money?) your internet is down.

Well, when they do so & Torchlight 2 no longer looks like it was made for the Disney Channel, I might try it out.

My guess is because it's an action RPG as opposed to an MMO and is targeted at a different audience. No kittens, but lots of terRAWWWR.

Yeppers, or just for using their real money auction house and buying from the wrong people.
The official reasoning is of course to protect the "sacred" cash-cows ah..consumers from the ebil cheaters and real money traders.

And how on Earth are people supposed to be able to determine that in the RMAH? Sales are "anonymous", you can't see who you're buying from.

someone on brandywine glff said today that their friend sold a helmet for $250 USD on Diablo AH :-)

i actually hope it's a successful AH thing because it might be the wave of the future and allow gamers to make real money doing what they love.

I used to do that in Ultima Online, like selling a bunch of ingots on Ebay.

I know nothing of a "shader hack," but apparently Blizz introduced a bug in their "real money auction house" which caused certain people to get inadvertently banned. It's being worked on.

It doesn't affect me, since I couldn't care less about the RMAH anyway Spending $250 on a freekin' pixellated shiny for a video game???? Sheesh, some people truly do have more money than brains.

blizzard is giving refunds now to koreans d3 player per korean law after initially refusing to do so.

this should send a nice message to the game developers about launching a game before its ready, intrusive drm and truth in advertising.

there are similar laws in most countries folks just need to file the complaints.

teach blizzard a lesson and maybe others will learn from it.

I note several of his deaths are cause by Diablo picking him up and screaming in his face...an absolutely unfair attack that wipes your health out fast. There's nothing you can during those few seconds, and if your pots are on cooldown you're SOL.

In my very humble opinion, the music of D3 is just as good/haunting/moving as D1 and D2. I've played over 50 hours, and have not tired of the music at all and the music really brought me back to my college days playing D1 in my dorm room.

Yes, I realize this is a thread necro. But Diablo 3 was such a stunning disappointment that I can't not post.

I played D2 for several years. I loved that game and found lots of ways to mix things up: different builds, HC characters, even getting my original Amazon to 99. It helped that I was in a great guild, but it was the gameplay that kept me coming back. I was so, so excited for D3.

At first, it seemed awesome. I made a monk and had a blast in Normal and Nightmare difficulties. Fast action, great graphics, leveling was fairly well paced, lots of new shinies to check out. I got into Hell difficulty and I started hearing about (or paying attention to) the talk of how insane Inferno was.

Now one thing I noticed as I leveled was that beyond the repetition of the game itself, the bosses were incredibly repetitive. In Normal it took me a few tries to take down Belial; the others were trivial. That's okay, I thought, It's Normal mode - you didn't really think it was going to be /headdesk challenging, did you? I realized, going through Nightmare and Hell, that the strats for beating the bosses weren't changing. At all. Surely by Hell difficulty, some new mechanic must be in place to make the boss fights more interesting? Nope. Nothing I could see. Same fight, just more HP and damage.

But that was still kinda okay, since the elite and champ packs were up to three attributes, which made for some really awesome fights. Instead of just facerolling through them, I had to think about skill rotations, movement, surrounding terrain, that sort of thing.

Nothing really could have prepared me for Inferno. Now, the bosses were still the same, and it quickly became clear that the goal of D3 is to spend enough on one of the AH's to survive Inferno elite and champ packs. The gear I had when I hit level 60 was clearly nowhere near good enough. I read about builds and which gear choices were optimal.

Okay, let's hit the AH, I thought. After all, I had found a popular legendary ring in Act 1 of Hell difficulty and sold it on the gold AH for ten million gold! I was set for good! Economic independence granted by the gods of the RNG! Hmm, okay, let's look up a fist weapon with +Dex +Vit and life leech...ooh, this one's nice, it's...it's...THREE HUNDRED MILLION GOLD?

Seems that D3 was released with a lot of bugs which allowed for outrageous exploiting, and the economy was wrecked faster than Lindsey Lohan at a fraternity house. Last I played, I was unable to sell items for 20k gold which I had purchased for 200k. Items on the gold AH are worth either nothing or hundreds of millions if not billions of gold. Those who didn't get in on the ground floor of exploiting to farm Inferno easily are pretty much up the creek. But that's just fine with Blizzard, since the RMAH is up and running.

So, I bought the best items I could afford without emptying my gold account, hoping that I could at least work through the first 2 acts of Inferno and find some upgrades. While I could manage most of the elite/champ packs, by the time I got to act 2, I was encountering one group a night which ended with my rage-log from the game. While the screenie below isn't me, I ran into groups with the same level of "you have to be flipping kidding me" (note that any one of those purple laser effects is capable of killing even a well-geared character in a few seconds):

The graphics are great, the pacing is good, and the game is a lot of fun early on. If you're looking for the successor to the kind of lasting appeal that D2 had, prepare for crushing disappointment.

Well I played D1... D2 and have absolutely no interest in D3. Get off the fence because it isn't worth it (and thats my opinion ;P )

I admit loving D1 and loving D2 as well.. but frankly 2 games were enough for me. I no longer enjoy that kind of game to be quite honest. Add in all the bad press, &&&&&& launch, real money AH, pretty much the same gameplay trying to bring back nostalgia from the past 2 games without really reinventing much... it';s just a big Meh to me.

Not to mention the fact that you are *required* to be online at all times to play... No thank you. I can't even take it with my laptop on the road and play! My favorite parts of D1 and D2 were not having to play with other people all the time and not having to worry about an internet connection.

    Butler? Mind bulb?

Speaking of D3, I found one of those "it has come to our attention that you are trying to sell your account, click this link blah blah blah" scam emails in my inbox this morning. Curiously, it's worded exactly the same as the email warning me about trying to sell my nonexistent Runescape account.

They never give up, do they?
