Thread: Relic removal scroll and Star-Lit Crystal = do you get them back?

I'm wondering if the Crystal will be removed with "normal" relics or if it will be lost like a "crafted" relic?

Is a relic removal scroll even needed? Are they returned to us whenever we deconstruct the item they are applied to even if there is no relic removal scroll used?

It is probably too soon for anyone to have tried this in game as of yet.
But perhaps on Bullroarer? Perhaps a Dev can enlighten us?

I know people who have already purchased Crystals from the store with real money and I would like to know where that investment goes when we move on to that new shiny weapon that drops for us.

Whoa! I hadn't thought about this until now. I'm sure they would be returned to us ... wouldn't they?

hmmmm ... Maybe I'll wait until we get an answer to this before investing any money ...

I'd bet that we'll see a crystal removal scroll in the shop soon ^^

Of course we will. Don't expect anything else.

Unless they changed something between BR and live, there's no way to retrieve crystals. The removal scroll only returns the three standard relics, and deconning a maxed out LI gives the same stuff regardless of how many crystals are applied.

If you find a crystal, I'd recommend waiting until you get a long term weapon (SA or higher) before applying it. If you're going to spend TP on it, I'd recommend waiting a few months for the new level cap.

Sadly that is what I feared Stavro = but my HOPE was that a regular decon would give them back to us.

Wise words as well about the use of these items and the future use as well.

What a sad, sad thing... a Legendary should be a precious friend to take us through to our epic showdown with Sauron and it is, in reality, an endless grind and "nickle and dime" boon for Turbine. (for those who indulge their desire to buy the upgrades)

Indeed, I fully expect a Shinier Star-lit Crystal for level 85 LIs, so you won't really want to put level 75 crystals in your newer weapons.

I don't think the crystals are going to be extremely rare, I ran Foundry twice yesterday and a crystal dropped both times. Yes, they will be in high demand for quite awhile as people slot them in LIs for multiple characters, but I'm optimistic that they will be reasonably obtainable via gameplay.

I fully expect a crystal removal scroll.

I was pissed enough when I couldn't get relics back from my maxed LI. There was no reason for it. To push people to the store? Oh, now I see their agenda....

Why would you expect this behavior? We can't remove:

1) Crafted relics
2) Scrolls of Empowerment
3) Scrolls of Delving
4) Scrolls of Legacy Application

The original system allowed Gems, Runes and Settings to be removed. Nothing added to the system later on can be. The entire Legendary Item system is designed around a "Throw Away" your Legendary. Plus a once a year, level upgrade to obsolete your current Legendary. All powered by dollars giving to the Turbine Offering Basket Guardian Cats (OBGCs) that support the Lotro Store.

Wouldn't it be funny if it cost more than the crystal itself and people still bought them...

Anyone know if the relic removal scroll currently in the store will work on higher RoR weapons?

Any rumors of them being limited to L75 and under?

I would fully expect that all LOTRO store purchases be useable up to 85, and update existing store items to do so on launch day. Continuing being universal across all levels. Otherwise, customer service will have a nightmare.

As for Star-lit crystal removal, it probably makes more sense for them to not do it. One, can they even differentiate between max level crystals and store universal crystals after being slotted, and two, make you buy 3 additional crystals for your new 85 weapon, instead of one removal scroll and reuse.
