Im the leader of my kinship and yet I can't view the logs (from this site)of anyone else in my kinship (except my own alts). Why is this, or am I doing something wrong?
I am not sure I fully understand what you are trying to do. Being kin leader does not give you any special priveleges. You have full access to the characters to your account. Nothing more. I believe what you need to do is get each kin member to send you a friend request. That will link their accounts to your account. That would be done via forum handle - not character name. The account owner would have to make the characters publically viewable from their profile.
You could always manually access the characters by name. That ia a hassle. There maybe some way to build some better interface. Salvation uses a 3rd site for the kinship. I am not very familar with what you get via MyLotro.

When I look at my kinship (on this site) I can see all my kin members, I can see their character sheets (what they have on), but when I hit character log (unnder the character links left of the characters sheet) it shows up as though they haven't done anything.

Each player has to set that option on their own forum account to make it public (assuming they want it to be visible.)

The activity log is private. I checked today. The only character logs I can see are my own characters. I can't see anybody's else log. I can't see anybody's equipment either - this includes my own characters.
