Thread: Can't start game after Update 7

Since the recent update, I have been unable to access the game. This is due to an issue I already had - a missing dll file (DCIMAN32.dll) - but until now, it did not affect my ability to play the game. Whatever has changed in the source code, I am now unable to do so. I am VIP, but will now have to cancel my subscription. Please can someone advise me about this? Thank you.

Try
Start > run regserv32 DCIMAN32.dll

I copied the dciman32.dll file from sys32 to sysWOW64 - now, when I try to start the game, I don't get the missing DCIMAN32.dll error, I get this:

'The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.'

Please can anyone help?

The module "dciman32.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterSever was not found.
Make sure that "dciman32.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again.

Does this mean that my dciman32.dll file is corrupted?

Yes, coruppted or missing.

Your going to have to look up how to replace it. Basically I am thinking that first you have to find a copy of the file and download it. then you have to boot up from a CD or Flash drive (anything other than your normal windows on the hard drive) then copy the file to the system32 folder. I believe that this is needed because Windows will not let you alter system32 folder while it is running/in use.

Then do the regsrv32 thing again.

I know contacting lotro tech support is slow because it's solely by email, but they've helped me on some things - not all - yet.

I am so sorry, but your problem is beyond my level of knowledge about the game.

I've seen game personnel post responses here, why are they not helping out with some of the problems here on the posts?

Thank you very much Hazmat and PlayTyme. The advice I have found is not to download the dll online, in case it is dodgy - and I don't know how to retrieve the file from the Windows7 CD.

I'm pretty certain that Turbine won't be able to help either, but I suppose it's worth a try.
