As far as i know turbine isnt sharing server population so this is the best next thing. (I know logins dont paint the whole picture since we have no clue if the chart records unique ip logins or w.e and when u have players like me who lately log in once or twice a day max and just toon to alts to afk crafting when I have to study).
I dont care if we became the noob server of the month or if bree's regional is filled with questions about mounts. Over time this may play out well and have the fresher server of new 75s eager to run stuff, especially when summer's coming and/or some old players put their accounts to hibernate for half a month to play diablo or w.e before they get bored and come back (please keep this thread as light as possible from your --this game will die may 15th or when gw2 is out or eso or we-- posts)
What I care about is the quality of the server. I have been noticing steady PACKET LOSS from 0.1 to 0.3 at times for a couple of weeks now. Half the ppl i ve asked have confirmed it too. (for the recod i never had packet loss before and pingtest.net never showed any packet loss with any us server during these last couple weeks and i m checking always when i notice ingame pl) (http://www.pingtest.net/result/62768464.png)
Please post your experience on PL and ofc discuss server pop.
p.s if u arent checking your connection frequently even if not lagging please dont rush to diss this.
Re: Weekly logins after crickhollow got recommended for new players...
well tbh i haven't had much in the area of packet loss. a couple times here and there, nothing to major. i have noticed, ping jumps, from my average of 49ms up to like 135 hold for about 10-15 seconds and then drop back down to normal ranges. along with that, super long loading screens. idk if turbine updated gfx engine, game engine, or something else, but its not very streamlined and it started around RoI. also i've been having strangely odd ingame sound issues, as if its trying to play the game sounds/music/combat sounds and so on in 3d, over stereo speakers. really strange. *could be old speakers as my headset seems to work just fine* but anyways idk lagg, there's something weird going on, and idk what it is, but definitely agree its not the performance i have experienced normally in my last 4 years of playing.
Re: Weekly logins after crickhollow got recommended for new players...
True... someone IM-ed me a question in German while I was riding through Combe - Google translate proudly returned "Where can I buy a horse". Few minutes later I ran into a minstrel chased by almost entire population of boars near Archet - and his name was pretty much the same as the place where I live, impossible to pronounce for foreign barbarians anyway. There are actual packs of characters travelling through Lone Lands even in solo areas. I'm happy to see low zones alive again, there's a reason to finally revive my alts. Though Angmar is mostly dead as usual so no real revolution yet - and I think we agree that at least part of recent low-pop boom could be attributed to looooong festival. Moors-wise, it might bring Age of Reaver again, with Lurtz, Lurrrtz, Lurtzz, Steve, Lurrrz and Spartacus, which makes me less happy. But I bet Thor is happy for us both, being able to rank & sleep and/or to knit at the same time :P
For what it's worth I get packet losses without constant, tangible reason while there is no competition for LOTRO on my side - it happens in populated spots, in the middle of nowhere, during RvR lagfest in Moors, during crafting... And then it clears out and I become happy customer for days. But those particular packet losses were something I experienced waaaay before current influx of players, it started somewhere between RoI and U5. So from my perspective and very limited playtime - no significant degradation recently ... yet. Pings are holding just fine as well and on their usual level; then again, I'm not sure if you can call 140-150 fine
Yay, no packet loss at all... router is acting up again...
On the other hand I've yet to see numbers on Connection Status icon indicating any version of lag/loss during actual lag spikes - and by spikes I mean "losing several/more seconds" - again, for no clear reason & even in dead areas. Since game refuses to call it lag, I guess it's something else, that looks, behaves, annoys and gets me killed exactly like lag. Zombie Columbus fits most of these
