I have a reaver. Apparently ranking a reaver in SoA wasn't good enough for these people.
You know perfectly well that every single class has gone through drastic changes since SoA. Facing freeps as a reaver then is not the same as now, regardless of whether it is more or less difficult.

I ASSURE you, I have experienced a far easier gameplay at R0-R3 than I do with Luc at R12. Why would I bother even experiencing the group tactics employed by anyone. I'm solo, and I have the added advantage of stealth.
I have ZERO desire to fight that way.
Of course R4 came quickly... The curve doesn't start picking up until R5 or so, I know it's been a while since you were there last. And of course you can rank easily if you choose to do so as a warg. You could stealth around and do quests all day long, not going within 200 meters of a hunter unless every skill and your brand was up. That is not however, the way most wargs play. Actively seek out some fights, and yes join a pack if only for the experience. Surely Hithy or Pup wouldn't mind taking you. Hell, I'd gather a few wargs myself if I had to.

There really is no comparison between SoA creeps and current creeps. There have been drastic changes in expectations fostered directly by Turbine.
Back in the day we didn't expect to be anything but weak. The only expectation I can remember is that Turbine would eventually fix the negative armour bug that affected many of us so that our armour values wouldn't make us even weaker.
These days the expectation is that eventually creeps reach a point where they're competitively equivalent to freeps. They're not wrong to expect that either. The whole system has changed drastically.
Not sure how many TPs this quote is worth now, but:
The above changes will shift combat dynamics in PvMP fairly significantly. The old rule of “many Creeps to a Freep” has been put into the recycle bin. The new goal with these changes is to put monster players on par with Free Players, which we hope will result with a more entertaining combat experience and less reliance on needing high population in order to compete.
