I would like to relate my experience as of last night and ask this community if this is their experience as well.
Running ToO with another guard and I asked him if he needed any resistance food. He replied that it was useless and made no difference. I thought "Challenge accepted!" After a full run and recording every resist I had for the night I counted, 3. Not 3%or any such nice little number but a total of 3! I could not believe that could be the case and I did something I almost never do. I sparred. I got my nephew to blast away on me for more than 45 minutes of spars where I stood still and did nothing but get hit by his mini.
485 possible chances to resist---9 resists. I was traited for main boss tanking and had resist food as well as token and def scrolls. The only things I was missing would be group buffs to try to reproduce what had happened in the raid. Is this normal? Are you having the same experience as I am? I also sparred his warg and found similar numbers from tactical attacks as these, tho I admit there were far fewer numbers to look at fairly in this short experiment. All attacks were from the front in both instances and my resist rating was 11,570 I can not remember what that was in % but at 8,750 is supposed to be over 22%! In my experience I should be getting FAR more resists than my log shows. Am I missing something, or has this been your experience as well?
Players/creeps/bosses all have high finesse, and in raids there are a lot of tactical attacks that can't be resisted anyway. Also, very few bleeds can be resisted these days.
As someone pointed out in an old thread, virtually any skill that it would be beneficial to resist (eg: Squall AoE), cannot be resisted, making the stat very close to useless.
Resistance work also vs direct tactical damage right?
For example we all know that you can resist to an attempt to be riddle by a burglar but you can resist also vs a spell damage?
Resistance work also vs direct tactical damage right? can resist spell damage?
in PVE no, you cannot resist a direct dmg attack. In some cases a debuffing attack contains a damage element, and you may be able to resist that.
However in general, resistance is worthless for a tank.
