Thread: Crosser of Roads - How do I get commendations?

In order to attempt the final quest ("Free Range") in the chain and receive the title "Crosser of Roads", I need to have 500 commendations and I'm not entirely sure how to acquire them.

From my research, it is my understanding that the level 6 quest chain I have spent an excessive amount of time to complete now requires me to engage in PvP activities, which I have never done before in this game and generally do not enjoy or want to play in others.

Additionally, the quests are level 6 and yet to participate in PvP to receive the commendations I need to be level 65 or something like that I believe.

This seems somewhat absurd to me so I can't help but think that I have misinterpreted or misunderstood something.

Could someone please provide me some direction on how to best go about acquiring commendations so that I can attempt this final quest in the chain?

If these are what I think they are, the easiest way would be to make a Monster Player, and start questing in the ettenmoors, those quests earn you commandations.

Or to avoid having to create a char you do not want to play,
you can also take any level 40+ char to Glan Vraig and do
the "cleanse the Hoarwell" quest like 25 times...

IF you are VIP...

How the *** did they ever make that decision to use
commendations for that quest?!?!?

(ps.: that Hoarwell run, do it only when there is no one
online or you might find yourself getting killed over and
over again by the same creep, probably a Warg-player)

Been wanting to mess around in Free Range for a while just to do something different than the usual questing, so I'm hoping they change that in the next update. I'm not making a monster character just to play as a chicken.

Though I've also heard people say they have problems getting the chicken stones to activate lately anyway...

The original cost was destiny points (DP). There was a major change to the moors to shift from DP to comms and Free Range got caught in the crossfire.

Don't bother trying Free Range now. Chicken stones and talking animals do not work right now.
If you want to go hop around with people as a chicken, that does work.

Just tried the quest out of curiosity today and it appears there is no longer a commendations cost, or anything else. Seems the last big patch fixed this problem. I was able to enter the session successfully, and it didn't cost me a thing.

Now I just need to find a spare eight hours to do the quest. A little more research beforehand might not be a bad idea either, and there is still the question of whether chicken stones are working or not.

I just got the Crosser of Roads title yesterday so I can tell you the chicken stones are working.

You no longer get any destiny points from this though, so the only reward now is the title.

I completed the quest in about 4 hours. Used a couple of guides to help me get the best route:

I made a few detours from that to speed things along. Did Bitter Stair first since you need help getting up there (followed a random stranger who was grinding there). Annuminas can be done solo (see this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQ5VmhP0Sgs) and I avoided stealthed mobs by swimming to Tinnudir and taking the road to Ost Forod. The rest I pretty much followed exactly as is, with a little variation in the Old Forest and Weathertop since I know the areas well enough to dodge mobs.

The title is more than reward enough, and is the whole reason this caught my eye. I have a LOT of time in another game working to earn very specific titles that I just need to have (part of my elitist nature to strut around with titles very few others display).

Thanks for the links, I'm sure they'll come in handy. I have every intention of doing this (not trying, Yoda taught me well), it's just a question of when. Been busy recently and I need to put in lots of research beforehand.

A little curious if there are any stats of how many people have this title. I have yet to see anyone in-game wearing it, and wondering how many people would even know just how impressed with me they should be once I get it.

I wish I knew, but I have a feeling most people don't even know about the quest series, let alone how hard it is to complete. I have seen a couple of people with the title. But I've been wandering around with the chicken cloak for most of the time I played this past year and only one person ever made a comment on it.

Still, I'm proud of the achievement. I may wish I could gloat over it more, but my own self satisfaction is good enough
