Re: Did Nidor's Memorial Represent The Closing Of An Era Of PvP On BW?

Hey Winty, I didnt read the whole thread but there is one thing that usually makes me take a long break... nice weather, which we finally have in Chicago. May be a factor for other cold climate folks.

But, that said, if Nidors passing is making people cherish their lives/ loved ones more then god bless him. Shame we need such tragic events to make us realize things sometimes. Screw this silly a** game, everyone go take your kid for ice cream.

RvR has deteriorated as of late. Either the fraid is terrible/undermanned and gets farmed, or the fraid is invincible and slaughters everything it comes across.

Thanks for the kind words Nutty~ Was always a pleasure playing both along side & against you. Tis a true shame that those days are gone. =/

Winter is most definitely onto something w/ the ponderings in his OP. I know that I've not really logged on much if at all since the week of the Memorial (which I unfortunately missed do to my ISP going down at the most inopportune of times...). I actually went the route of completely unsubbing, after keeping an active account for the past 5 years. Part of me wishes that I'd have just grabbed a lifetime sub early on, but in reality (aside from the casual poke around every so often) I have next to no desire to actively play LOTRO anymore. People move on, life changes, the game that I once loved doesn't really exist anymore... C'est la vie.

For my part, I hope that my small (some might say silly) impact on the BW Community will be remembered fondly by others as we all move on to whatever comes next. I know that I've only ever attempted to enjoy my time spent in-game & here on the forums. If I managed to induce a few lols & smiles w/ all of my crazy pictures and such then I'll chalk that up as a job well done~

Re: Did Nidor's Memorial Represent The Closing Of An Era Of PvP On BW?

You made me laugh and smile several times Rhae As well did several others.

It was a plethora of issues plus the incoming release of a game I have waited for a long time that put more and more time between when I logged on. But I think Nidor sealed the deal, I had to look at if it was worth my time to log into a game that I just wasn't having fun with anymore and try and force the fun or whether it was better to just accept that the time here did have some fun and move along to something that is better for me. I never had much issue seperating my game time from my irl time to opitimize both, I just had the problem of trying to recapture something that was/is clearly gone. I just think the finality of the memorial really opened my eyes. And I am grateful to have play against a man like Nidor whose personal struggle (and the inspirational way he dealt with it) made me in the end so very aware of making sure you are having fun in what you do.

I'm new to this server, so obviously I didn't know Nidor, but if he can have this effect on so many of you then I definitely respect him and I am sad I will never get the chance to group with him.

Re: Did Nidor's Memorial Represent The Closing Of An Era Of PvP On BW?

Apologies for the interruption from Meneldor...

As a fellow weaver who, like Nidor, had the same character since open beta and as one who had many discussions over the forums with Nidor and a great respect for what I knew of him (way too little I have since learned), I found myself extremely moved by the memorial and forum reactions of nearly every player to respond, no matter the server.

My reaction is perhaps a bit in reverse of what many of you posting here seem to be experiencing experiencing.
I had been burnt out a bit perhaps by playing my spider and disheartened for several reasons. With the memorial I found within myself a new desire and enjoyment of playing my weaver again. So much so that I finally gained the last third of my inf to R9 after 3 1/2 years at rank 8. I finally found and enjoy my home once again. The map doesnt matter, the bugs don't matter. The people do.

People come and go, but as long as there is someone who remembers, dreams live on.

    Thank you Nidor.

    /salute

Re: Did Nidor's Memorial Represent The Closing Of An Era Of PvP On BW?

I've watched and followed the Nidor thread, and was sad with Turbine's hands-off approach.

I think across all servers the populations are slowing down. I took 2 weeks off about a month ago. I figured I just needed time away to get excited about an unexciting game again. I came back, played a little freepside, little creepside, and I realized this game just isn't worth it. The development of PvP and my main class (hunter) is a joke. Commendation system came from the hunter dev. Might explain why the class is a joke atm, but enough of that. After looking back at my own old pics, I realize this game is no where near as fun as it was in the past. After a couple days of trying to get excited again, I realized I just had to cancel my subs.
