    Warden's Mentor

Hi, each class has a mentor - like Samwise Gamgee for Guardians. Who is the Warden's Mentor?

    11 Level 85 Characters: 12 Eastement Level Crafters/Guild Masters.

if you mean the NPC you report to for your lvl 50 class quest/legendary, (as Sam is for guards i believe), it's Aragorn

The warden level 50 class quest bestower is Hrotha in Ost Guruth.

Aragorn is the person to talk to in order to get moving on your legendary traits after you get the boots with the missing pages from your trainer.

Pretty sure it's based off of Leonidas but whatever.

In all seriousness I would have guessed Gil Galad as well. I would not have thought Haldir... but he may have been different in the books then what I remember. I am just thinking of the Haldir from the movies... in which case he would be a Hunter. The game is based around the books though so as I said he may be different.

Heh does it really? Does that mean that, once we get to Minas Morgul, captains are all going to end up corrupted into Wraiths?

Most people are pretty sure Gil-galad is the real model, but I think that character doesnt fall under LOTRO's license... Luthien was mentioned in LOTR, by way of her Lay, I think, which is how they shoehorned her in for Minstrel

I think that in-game it says that the class was inspired by and not that someone was a model for that class. So Smwise Gamgee couldn't have been a model for a Guardian class, but is inspired by him for always trying to protect Frodo. Sam had no shield, heavy armor, didn't realy challenge anything to attack him...

    ^This

The warden isn't defined by a spear/sheild, but by the lore behind it. After all, how many classes can carry a spear & shield?

Yes, Gil Galad had a spear/shield, but he was a king, not a "border/protector" type, as the warden is supposed to be. Haldir (yes, from the books), protected the borders of Lorien.

I guess you're right and Gil-Galad was awesome (he is in FotR for 3 seconds!!!)

In reality the Greek Hoplite inspired the warden. The dev who came up with the idea probably did so after watching a movie like Troy, unless he was a history buff. I know this isn't really the answer to your question but, I just thought I'd throw it out there.

Surely it was 300 that inspired them? As much as the Hoplite and earlier movies such as Troy are badass, 300 took it up a notch.

Gil-galad is mentioned by song in FotR.

I'm sure 300 was a big part of the motivation for making this class, but Troy has the animation for our PB/MB/US attacks:

Hmm, I was more thinking of this:

It could be from that Troy scene though, I had forgotten about that one

    Re: Warden's Mentor

In my opinion, the mentor should be someone like Éomer King of Rohan
reason being: the Rohirrim are the master of the shield and spear, and of course horsies

    Vreal: Level 75 Warden
    Griminsborith: Level 75 Champion
    Orearry: Level 37 Burglar
    Togira: Level 36 Minstrel
    Knurlagn: Level 26 Runekeeper

He does it better in the fight with Hector, plus he uses a shield and spear. Check it out if you havn't seen it before.

That reminds me, we should have a shield gambit with a disarm effect!
