Thread: Dread?

I was questing in Augdahaim (In Mirkwood, the area with the shades just outside the Haunted Inn) the other day, everything went perfectly fine.

The next day I was running through Augdahaim as a 58 burglar joined my group which consisted of my 62 guard and a 44 mini. I got a crapton of dread, and the Eye of Sauron flashed across my screen for about 30 seconds. We joked that the burglar had stepped on Sauron's toes just as she joined my fellowship.

I rode through today with the same burglar in my group, not a hint of dread. Just a few ticked shades chasing me.

Needless to say, I'm rather puzzled. Why do you get no dread one day, dread in a trio the next day, and the day after that, no dread in a duo?

If it matters any, the day I got the dread, the mini and burg were in Eregion grinding out the mini's legendary pages. They didn't have any dread.

I seem to remember there being a rare elite MOB that spawns in that area and it gave off a lot of dread, maybe it was somewhere nearby. Of course I may also be remembering wrong since it has been a long time since I was in that area (and I'm old and forgetful) .

and there is dread spot inthat zone, in the inn you'll get a lot of dread at one spot and if you move your camera around, you'll catch the source of the dread...

there's a few spot like that...

It's a very well done area. You're not the only one feeling the dread - some of Elven sentries feel it too! And in specific spots it gets worse, the significance of those places later becomes apparent from the quest chain.

Players do not give off dread.

Oooh... Just did that a few minutes ago. That's creepy! No wonder it's called 'The Haunted Inn'!
