    Couldnt put the game down?

    Hello fellow PvMP'ers!

I havent been playing LOTRO for a fair few months now, and im not sure if i will come back. I remember getting the lifetime founders edition of LOTRO, i played the beta and enjoyed it immensely, was my first mmo and it was well yeah, fun. Casually leveled up to 50 and to be honest i couldnt put the game down!

It surpassed any previous lotr games i had played and was more focused on the books which i found refreshing. When i first started playing the game i told myself i would always play the good guy and i did for a while, but wanted to give the dark side a go.

I went into one of those fell scrying pools and launched an uruk blackarrow, and i have to say it was so much fun! However i eventually settled with the Warleader class and have been playing that ever since.

Whilst pvmp has never been balanced (i think thats what attracted me to it in the firstplace), i could always find some fun in it.. i mean of course there was some bleak times, but generally things would bounce back and i would have a laugh, which for me was what it was all about. I dont play games for "epeen" i play them for fun, and pvmp raiding gave me that.

I always bought the special edition expansions in hope that maybe one day they will account for something, or god forbid they overhaul pvmp.. and to be fair their has been alot of changes, but for me the wrong direction.

But i put up with it due to the great community on creepside [EN-RP] Laurelin, and the fact i did get alot of fun out of it. But i guess the straw that broke the camels back was the audacity, i mean things were bad leading up.. but they unfortunatly became worse. My uruk warleader is rank 11, i have played him for a while and whilst i dont claim to be the "best" pvmp player, i know.. or rather knew my way about.

I recieved very little infamy for the warleader class as it was, and well the changes that Turbine have made now give me next to nothing, i dont play lotro for points or such, but seen as now im not rewarded for anything whatsoever (i think if i heal solo i get around 1-2 infamy in a whole EC farm) which i guess takes away part of the "game" aspect.

Furthermore i personally have found it very difficult to get these commendations, so i find myself rather vunerable in combat.. and my 11k deaths speak for themself in that im not fussed by dying, but against some classes (in particular a minstrel)... it is actually sole destroying to fight against at least 1 v 1. As i say i dont mind dying however i feel as though i am just walking points for "Free peoples" as no doubt some free peoples feel against certain monster classes.

I do feel quite saddened to see the game i have invested time money, and to be fair emotion into something for me simply unplayable. I have an addictive nature so i eventually came to the conclusion that enough was enough. I can understand that lotro is a primarily a pve game, but its quite sad that the only real expansion for the pvp end game was the delving of fror is now .. well redundent.

I will be the first one to defend lotro, i think its a great game and i like some of the things they have done with it. But the pvmp side i grew to know and love, for me, sadly has been destroyed. And im sorry but i drew the line when i became so involved with lotro pvp it was having a negative impact on my "real life" it was so frustrating! So i had to cut my loses and say bye to the game, and more-so the community i know and love.

So i guess the point of this post could be summed up in a few sentances, but i think its helpful for people to know a bit of backround to it, i guess what i would really like is some real attention given to pvp make it as succesful as the pve side of things whilst retaining that lotro style. Tall order, but with the backing or warner bros i cannot see it being too difficult. I am aware it has been given some attention although well, for me i couldnt do with another dissapointing patch. And whilst im not discrediting the developers who have put alot of attention into it, i think their hands may of been tied by the powers that be, which is a shame because lotro pvp has so much potention, its Lord of the Rings for crying out loud.

I most likely wont respond to this thread as i have a million and one other things to do, but if anyone would like to discuss it with me then my "msn" is andrew.gordon92(at)live(dot)co m , you can send me an email or IM me not too worried, and well i would be dissapointed if people didnt scrutinse every single word of this post here! And of course i expect there to be much trolling (its a strange sense of humour thing).

I dont believe in goodbyes, and certainly dont deal in absolutes, although i dont think i will be back until some real bad things happen in real life or they overhaul pvp, suspect it will be a combination of the two. And as i say my msn is there, and if any of you play bf3, then hit me on it! May pop back every now and again, we will see

    Till sheet happens

Cool Re: Couldnt put the game down?

Grug, there is absolutely no reason to be sad.

Memories will live on forever. Hold onto that.

    Continue to make new ones.

We talked a lot about RL and game, and I enjoy your company. I understand you don't have a lot of time (I can empathize), so don't fade into obscurity.. just move on.

On this particular note, i have left facebook too, hopefully i will never ever return to that horrificness, facebook is a million times worse than anything, on that we can all agree! The particular reasons however are far to complex to go into over forums , however as if to prove a point i removed the facebook app from my iphone and bought a £20 helicopter i can fly using an app instead, it was last seen flying at a high altitude over a park that backs on to my garden with a crazy person trying to restore the infared signal running after it, some person thought it would be a great idea that when it looses its infared singal it goes into full power instead of cutting it!

And as regards to being sad harmo, yeah i am, met some epic people on LOTRO that is the only reason though, and i will click your link when i can be bothered, which is probably in two weeks time as next week is messed up, i managed to win a national award for the work i did at my old place of work so preparing for that a bit :P

Only popped back here to see if they were still giving away £5 amazon voucher for reffering friend.. now its only 20% extra turbine points

See ya Grug, it's been fun fighting alongside you, but not as much fun as the conga-lines, dancing crews outside TR, and various other funky raid stuffs

Please do look into Harmo's link, it'll be fun fun fun!

As for my own Lotro-activity: it's turned to non-existant when I hit that "pre-purchase now" button...
Waiting for Turbine to fix myLotro so I can have a proper sig...

meanwhile: hey, it's Rags, from Laurelin

    Hey friends,

I'll miss you Grug, will add you to msn soon, congratulations on the award and have fun anywhere/anytime.
(Join Harmo's most ambitious project until now) :P

Was always fun with you around <3
On that note: Harmo gone too, Bunny left yesterday
Wishing all who leave -and left- much luck and fun.
Maybe we'll meet again in here or any other place.
    Thanks Turbine

I'll stay a bit and see what I can find in the ruins.. Maybe a shiny ring....

Cheers Grug and Brunt. Won't see you much in here in the foreseeable future then. If you two can afford the initial price, consider getting gw2 and joining the team for some casual pvp. Raiding without your trololo interpretation just isn't the same Grug.
