Not since 2003 have i enjoyed a mmo this much, back in those days i was playing Everquest Online Adventures for playstation 2. My first mmo. Which i still think is the best EQ to date. too bad it was shut down 2 months ago after 9 amazing years! Anyways, not since then have i seen such a wide open and overall engaging game world! Lotro makes me feel like im in middle earth! Not since 03 have i felt tied to the land, actually a part of this amazing place. i want to go to the shire, sit down with a pipe and a beer! I find myself sitting in some poor hobbits home next to the fire just listening to the music and enjoying a good smoke! Needless to say i enjoy this game immensely! One of the best things about Everquest Online Adventures was there was NO loading zones! Only a few areas called for a short load screen, lotro is the same in that respect. Upon making my hobbit and finally making my way into the shire from the main instances i felt instantly ashamed to have not been a part of this game since the start! I must end this by saying that this game has the best free to play option i have ever seen! And i have seen far too many... Turbine is not greedy in the way they handle things and each purchase i've made thus far has been a satisfying one!
All i need is my mates...and some killer pipe weed!
I love the Shire as well -- it's one of my favorite places in the game, just to relax and ... well, feel like I'm part of the world. I fell in love with LotRO because of the Shire. (Though an acquaintance of mine disliked it and felt it was boring, so I suppose it really is 'different strokes for different folks'!)
It's great that you're enjoying the game so much. Your post made me smile. Thank you.
Welcome to LOTRO Wyndhaven. Like you, I come into the game and was just blown away. Since that time, way back in beta, I have not found another to replace this world. I'm sure there are some other wonderful games out there, but I've not had the desire to go off looking for them since falling in love with this one. Sure, the game has it's faults and there are folks who will find things to pick on it about, but over all, the community is best, the game is breathtaking, and the quests are fun. I am not a level focused sort of player at all. I love the environment way too much. So I spend much of my time exploring. You are right. The lack of area loading screens is wonderful and quite nice to keeping an explorer like me feeling deeply implanted into the world I love so much. Anyway, I hope you stick around for a long time to come! I'm proud to say that while I've had to endure several changes over the years, it's never been so much that I couldn't deal with them and continue on loving the game.
