I'm not in a raiding kin, so I was wondering if my 75 hunter could join a high level group (or organize one here) to 'faceroll' this raid (community's words, not mine).
I'm interested in this particular raid because I'd like the Lothlorien armor for cosmetic use on my main^^^.
I know it sounds selfish to ask fellow raid members to not roll on the armor's barter tokens, but given it's lvl 58, and the fact that I can never spark peoples' interest enough to run this when I ask around glff, I think it's safe to assume that not too many lvl 75s genuinely want the armor from this raid (regardless of equipment/cosmetic intentions), or appear to be actively seeking it.
By all means anything else that pops up in the chests I will gladly pass on if I can get a hold of these tokens. (Or some, at least )
It will be my first time on this raid, but I've taken all sorts of written notes from the Lorebook guide and watched some videos. I know the mechanics of the fights, and the ways in which I can instantly be killed--I won't be a burden on the raid in terms of needing to be res'd all the time. I hope to be able to lead it myself after some in game experience with it.
I'm not a huge fan of the cosmetics, so not a really big deal for me.
I would reccomend, based on my experience running The Rift, that you use Master Looter and discuss with the raid members beforehand if anyone would like certain armor pieces and who will be getting them.
This removes the chance for one person to get all of the tokens and not really care about it, while those that REALLY want them, or already have some, don't get any.
There was a PUG DN run on Riddermark as recently as last week. As you properly guesses, with several L75 in it, it's much less of a challenge and can be done with pretty fast, with on-level people basically tagging along.
However, what you missed is that since raid armor always looks special, those people will want it as cosmetics too. Also, since the barter tokens are bound on account, some people may choose to use them to give their alts on-level raid armor as soon as they hit level 60. Of course, you can use Master Looter to give all tokens to yourself, but expect the whole raid to angrily leave after the very first instance of it and yourself to acquire a server-wide reputation of "Ninja Looter". And even among a kin, I can't imagine convincing 11 other people to take you through 2-3-hour raid only for you to reap the only meaningful rewards from it.
The only way I see would be just run the raid 5-10 times and roll on tokens each time, hoping to win the roll. Oh, and expect if not all, then at least most other players to do the same.
The problem with this old contents is that u must find people after the Deeds involved in it.
I'm already finishing a plugin to Lead Old content raids, but if you ever contact with me inside the game i'll be glad to help you, we could duo or trio DN.

Exactly. I wouldn't invite people to the raid unless they were informed of my intentions regarding the armor. Glad to see some interest, though.

Like I said to Isondil, I would obviously never just do a surprise loot ####. I would let people know before admitting them to the group of my intentions (whether it be the full set or compromise of maybe 1-2 tokens etc). And from what I've heard if I do get interest from experienced 75s, it definitely won't take 2-3 hours. Even just doing fair rolling on the tokens all around would be fine as long as I gain the ability to lead the instance myself so that I could run it as many times as necessary until I had the set. I don't prefer that, but if that's what it takes, then that's what I'll do.

Sounds great, I appreciate the outreach. And you really think DN is dou/trio-able?
I am really interesting in running these instances. I've run the 6 man a few times but not the 12. I am also after a cosmetic, but will happily wait in line. I'm much more interested in running the older content than the new, I don't really care for that 'leet gear' attitude, I find good is good enough and I just like to enjoy the game. Unfortunately similar people are rather hard to find, especially as I'm not too social in the game.
I did also lead DN yesterday to complete a silly stupid personal achievement: I wanted to have all the locks of raids at same time. yeah ALL the raids.
Suceed in my achievement with only 2 minor problems: Saruman(Tried but failed after a Link Lost) & Ivar and Gortheron(killed them lot of times, but yesterday i was busy with saruman).
Feel free to ask me inside the game if a raid is happening or not. if not, i'm starting one just for you, as i always do with my raids, started because someone needs it and it's a really nice incentive to stop boredom.
Ran this successfully today! Went relatively well over all, learned a few lessons, and got the last two armor tokens because 3 others were rolling. Should be doing tons more runs in the coming weeks, look for me in glff!
i'm glad u made it, sorry but i had to go before we finnish it. Didn't expect to waste so many time in the 4th boss.
Thanks for leading and starting it off! Yeah Flagit was really annoying...hunters. The rest went smoothly though, only wiped once after you left. Hopefully we can run it again soon, I still need more armor tokens!
Did this last night to complete some deeds for kinnies. 8/10 lvl 75's, and it took us about an hour for a speed run. Just google for the boss strategies, the only one that'll really cause you any minor irritation is the boss that requires you to stop dps when his shield comes up (otherwise, you'll end up healing the boss back to full). You only really need 1 mini, 1 OP guard tank, and the rest can be straight dps.
DN was alot of fun on level back in the day, and sometimes it's interesting to compare how DN / BG were set up and implemented vs OD, TOOC.

Wow an hour!?!? When we pugged this, Flagit took over an hour alone No matter how many people shouted 'STOP!' over voice chat, we had some derpy hunters that couldn't quite stop the auto attack quick enough in addition to not using DoTs or power skills.
If you ever run it again and need to fill in a spot, PM Elbineezerscrooge (75 hunt, main) or Katten (59+ mini), I now have 2 toons that are able to run it with you-- and I still need the first 4 armor tokens!
That's generally the difference between PUGs and raiding groups. We (most of the time know how to listen and react to situations on the fly. You would be welcome to join us in the future. We actually had a slot or two open most of the time for that. I joined up after the first two bosses.
We don't run that stuff often though so if you can get a PUG I suggest you run with them. Check out our forums and Teamspeak 3 if you ever want to hang out (Parental discretion is advised). www.caughtwhitehanded.com for both
I am still looking to do Mirkwood instances, so far not had an invite or been on when one is going.
This is Lorien, not Mirk And I've only run it once since I created this thread-- I sent tells to the people that posted here before posting in glff if they were online, guess you weren't around! Don't worry though, like I said-- still need 4 more armor pieces so I hope to run this a lot in the future!
