I have been unable to get the game working since Tuesday evening. When I can get into the game at all, my character is frozen, no keys work, and the client status stays at "not responding".
I bought a set of Mithril Edition DVDs this morning and would like to do a clean reinstall. (I also ordered a new computer with more memory that should be here next week, but till then I'd like to get LOTRO working on this one again.)
Can anyone point me to current instructions for how to uninstall my current LOTRO client and reinstall using the Mithril Edition DVDs? The KB article I found a link for only talks about reinstalling from older DVD sets, and I don't know if I need to worry about the issues connected with those older disks.

Reason: fixed a typo
not sure what issues your refering to but an unintall and reinstall should be fairly simple especialy if you plan on reinstalling on the same install of windows
uninstall from add remove programs\programs and features, if you want to remove all traces of lotro including your logon details and graphics settings youll also need to browse to
Code:
(vista\w7)
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\
cut and paste the text into either start > search\run, my computer address bar or the IE address bar
and delete the turbine and "the lord of the rings online" folders, next browse to (my)documents\the lord of the rings online and delete userpreferences.ini and lotro.keymap
reboot to be sure its all uninstalled
then run the installer from the DvD's, to minimise possible problems disable your antivirus while installing and run the installer as administrator even if you logon with your admin (primary\main) account
but from the sounds of your problem a reinstall of lotro is not likely to resolve your issue, your issue sounds more like a connection issue, possibly with your ISP, you would need to run a tracert to gls.lotro.com to find out where the issue is.
if your modem\router is left switched on 24\7 and has not been restarted also power off your modem\router for at least 30 seconds before powering back on
if your using wireless\wi-fi try switching the wi-fi channel if you use vista\w7 you could also try using vista antilag or wlan optimizer
its also possible you need to open\forward all the ports required for lotro, if you run a software firewall make sure turbinelauncher, turbineinvoker are allowed to connect over TCP and UDP in both directions. especialy if you use a software firewall you may also need to remove all rules for lotro and re-add them, dependig on which firewall you use you may need to allow lotroclient turbinelauncher\invoker to use your keyboard ie comodo defense+ can prevent software accessing the keyboard

Thanks! I will try to power off the modem, I know for sure that it's been on all the time.
I had seen suggestions to reinstall in other threads discussing lag/freezing/hitching issues, so that's why I thought of that as the first solution to my problem.
I think that ultimately, the new computer w/ 64-bit windows will be the sure fix. At least I hope so!

its deffintaly worth a shot at least, especialy if nothing else works. at least it will help cure some of the hitching issues caused by poor file optimisation of lotros files which gets worse each time lotro is patched.. that is if you can get the keyboard inputs to work
I'm happy to report that I'm back in the game now, after using the Mithril Edition DVDs to reinstall. I de-fragged the HD first, and saved the ui, layout, and LOTRO documents file before deleting everything.
My hobbit is back from being stranded in the Midgewater Marshes at last, she was hoping to be awarded the Firecracker title by Gandalf but she'll have to wait till next year.
