As a tank, I'd have to say an LM really shines in Dargnakh. Having CC available for the first boss is great to control his healing adds, and my healer tends to run low on power keeping me alive in that one so having an LM makes that aspect of the fight a lot easier. Then having an LM who can fire off a few heals and give me stun resistance in the final battle, rather than a useless DPS class that goes AFK while the tank and healer do all the work, is of great benefit!
You might want to read these two articles for some advice, you might pick up some ideas:
in 3 man of isengard lore master is the best dps ... aoe, stun, debuff, antistun ... remove wound ... can help in healing what do you want ?!?!!?
For some reason, I just don't take to the DPS role on a LM. Don't ask me why?

Oddly enough, the most fun I've had on LM in those T2, was with a Warden tanking, a hunter, and LM DPS traited, with healer and light of hope as the last two traits. The Warden healed the group, with me healing when needed, which wasn't as often as you would think. It was fast and furious. You do need a few pots though, for some of the areas where the group receives aoe damage.
You would need to find a Warden who really knows the class to pull this off though
I've tried it with a more classic set up too. It "feels" safer, but it isn't as much fun. Cappy healing, warden tanking and me dpsing. Also with me doing the more supportive healing, a dps and a Cappy tanking works well. Have to admit, I haven't tried with a Guardian, yet, while on LM
As our dps really shines with more adds in toe, it can feel a bit slower for boss fights alone, cappy buffs help if your gear isn't quite where you'd like it to be. So I'd suggest cappy, tank, LM. Provides a cushion for you, but that's just me..
I would agree with all of the above. For the Isengard 3-man, being in a DPS role is definately the best thing for a Loremaster, though don't forget your other abilities such as debuff and anti-stun.
In any 3-man you really need someone to tank, someone to heal and someone to do damage. A Loremaster really isn't in a position to tank, so that leaves healing and DPS. If you are very good at LM healing, then that is an option, but unlikely to work well in tier 2, so realistically, you're best placed to be the damage dealer and a very good one you can be.
Make sure your staff is fully levelled up for tactical damage and fill it up with additional direct damage legacies. Go for synergy with the book, so fire skills critical multiplier on the staff, coupled with fire skills critical rating on the book. For the rest of the book take burning embers pulses and max it out coupling with fire damage over time, target resistance (damaging skills) and target resistance (fire skills).
In short - build for the maximum DPS. Of course, you need to be sure you have high will as well.
Finally, if you really are struggling to get into the whole Loremaster DPS mindset, I find it very helpful to shout "SQUISH!" every time I cast ents, or "BURRRRN!" for sticky gourd and so on, accompanied by some maniacal laighter. So, perhaps that will work for you.

For some reason, I just don't take to the DPS role on a LM. Don't ask me why?
Back in the BG days I made LM my main, because we just didn't have any other active LM mains in our raiding alliance at the time. Minstrel was my main up to that point, and I have to admit, I found it a bit tricky to start with, all I did was debuff, share power, draw power, remove corruptions, keep stun immune on select targets during some pulls, and heal. I didn't bother much with DPS skills, and didn't understand the fact that some of my dps skills were really useful for extra debuffs on certain targets. I enjoyed it though, it was a total change to spamming bolster courage and so on
Then along came OD, and suddenly it felt like the world opened up to me, there was so much more for a LM to do there.
But even then, like you, I didn't take to the idea of DPS LM. It felt strange to me. It was only when I was levelling from 65 - 75, and there were a lot of tricky solo instances, that I really started to explore the other trait-lines and found out how to actually play solo (I always level with my man, so he used to tank everything on hunter, with me cc-ing, healing and tanking with pets as much as possible). That opened up my eyes to DPS LM, and I found I really started to enjoy it.
If you want to truly try DPS LM, I'd suggest a foundry run with anti stun (Dunadan Learning) and healer traited as the last two traits. I have parsed dps on trash pulls in there, and you can manage over 2k quite easily. We ususally go with a Warden tanking, and after we kill the trolls following the second boss, the Warden goes nuts. He/she pulls the first set of mobs, we take down the fire caller where there is one in each set, and then he/she runs off gets the next set, the fire caller is killed again and so on, all the way up to the last lever before the boss room. With your aoe skills there you can get mental dps, and that's quite a buzz.
Single target dps on LM is not as much fun or as effective, and can seem quite dull by comparison lol.
