Edit: Great post order here again. Third post of this thread, which is now showing up as the first post but should be the third post, is has a four hours earlier timestamp than the first post of this thread that is now showing up as the second post, and my post is the third post when it should in fact be the second post. What? How can that be confusing? I was perfectly clear in explaining how confusing these forums are! You can't really mean it's confusing? Right?
?me to sense perfect makes
edit: at least it did until my post jumped to 2nd

Hi folks. I have a question relating to dying in game. I recently rolled a LM and lvled him last night to 21. In the process of getting there I died at about lvl 14 fighting the Wight boss in Ered Luin. Instead of recalling back to the rez ring I hit the revive button. That was the only time I "died" and I assumed that with that death I had lost the chance to reach lvl 20 undefeated. However when I hit lvl 20 it gave me the title for reaching lvl 20 without dying. So the question is how does the deaths count? do they only count when you die and rez back at the rez ring?
To me, it sounds like a bug that worked in your favour.
In my opinion, being defeated should be the key part; after all, you can't hit "Revive" or be resurrected by another player, until you've been defeated. Very interesting question really. I wonder how long it has worked this way...
There is of course that extra line, "You have succumbed to your wounds" or something like that. I recall it only appears if you use retreat (can't be sure, as I'm defeated so rarely, heh). It's perfectly possible that this event is used for deeds instead of actual "killing blow".

Edit2: Rephrasing: Third post of this thread, which is now showing up as the first post but should be the third post, has a four hours earlier timestamp than the first post of this threads that is now showing up as the third post, and my post here is the fourth when it should in fact be the second post. Second post of this thread should be the fourth, while the only post that is apparently at it's correct place is the fifth post. Was I clear enough again? (And most likely, whoever posts next, will make this paragraph obsolete as well...) :P

Thanks for replying inspite of the forum problems this morning. I have checked a bit further and found that I have the lvl 5 and lvl 10 titles for having reached those lvls without dying and then the next one I have is the lvl 20 title "the Undying". Since I know I died and hince did not recieve the other undefeated titles I agree that it looks to be a bug. I have submitted as such. Again Thanks for the replies!

I'm in the same position. When my cooking alt won a Lossoth pony I decided to level him to the point where he could ride it, and had a little setback pulling too many Dourhands in Kheledul at about level 12 or so. He has the titles for 5th, 10th and 20th levels, but not 14th and 17th. I think Kheledul was in an instance, but I assumed that didn't affect anything because he wasn't awarded the other titles. I didn't rez or revive. I didn't /bug it, but maybe I should.
Is a death always a death? Does dying in the original epic book 9 chapter 2 count as an official death? When you finish the quest you are killed automatically. I have a character that I am seeing how far I can go without dying. I stopped after book 8, not willing to take the chance.

Same thing happened to me while leveling up my burg. Something managed to kill me around level 13, so I never got the lvl 14 title, but still got the lvl 20 Undying title. I was quite perplexed about it, but a kinmate said the same thing had happened to him. Not sure if it's a bug, or the way it's intended. But I sure felt weird wearing the Undying title when I did, in fact, die 7 level or so before it. ^.^
