Hey folks,
New to playing a creepside and I rolled a Warg (and a few other creeps). I'm really enjoying it, have about 5k comms and would love some help figuring out what I should be buying first. Maybe someone else already answered this in another thread and if so, please point me in the right direction. If you have suggestions for the what to buy on the warg or any other creep, I would appreciate the help.
Thanks.
A noob.
Re: What to spend my Commendations on First - Warg?
When it comes to warging (with the glorious introduction of commendations) there's a few things to take into consideration. First and foremost, when you start playing a new warg you're #### (and that's putting it mildly). The general rule atm when starting a new creep (any class for that matter) do as much PvE as possible (sad but true), getting those maps WILL be your main source of commendations until r6 (at which point you should have all t2 maps and most of the t3 maps). If you're lucky you've got a high rank creep that can supply you with commendations but if you're fresh out from grams it's a much tougher grind.
The first thing you wanna get is (as stated previously) Enhanced skill: Stealth (1500 commendations, you will aquire this amount early into r3 or late r2), without it you're pretty much useless (read: a drunk lm without quickslots). The 2nd thing you want to get is Shadow (2000 commendations, late r3), getting those 15% more dmg will be very handy. Now at this point some people say there's no big difference what to get, however, I beg to differ with that. With these two skills you'll still be very squishy as a warg and need to improve both your dps and survivability before you will be a threat in the moors. At this stage (r3-r4) you'll also start getting some of the t2 maps so you can aquire some things slightly faster... for a while, until you run out of maps that is. the 3rd thing you wanna get is Shadow fang (1500 commendations), which changes dmg type to shadow (shadow resistance is in 99% of the case lower than common resistance on both freeps and NPCs. The sole difference would be smoeone using rift set buff, which very few use). Now after you've gotten all these skills (well, most of them traits) you will hit for a lot more but you're still at risk being one-shotted by freeps. So now you need to work on your survivability. Now, some might thing that audacity is the way to go here, but it's not even remotely close at this stage, not to mention it's expensive (6000 commendations) you have no way of getting that amount of commendations yet. So now you want to go for corruptions, especially those aimed for survival. For maximum survivability you wanna get MfP 1-2 and MfD 1-2 as well as critdef 1-2 (yes, at this stage morale outweighs extra dps by miles), you'll get a much higher morale pool with the tradeoff a slightly lower dmg BUT a dead warg does no dmg at all. Now, after all this it's a matter of personal preference though I'd suggest getting the armor buff (1500 commendations) and debuff skills (silence, inc dmg). The EARLIEST you'll be looking into audacity (providing you don't have a high rank creep feeding commendations) is at late r5 early r6. So in short;
Going about it this way will increase your survivability dramatically, true, you'll never see the same numbers on hits that you can on freep side but it's better seeing numbers at all than a grey screen. Getting the extra morale makes you that much harder to kill. You might also wanna consider throwing in hips after the MfD/MfP 2 depending on how much commendations you have available.
Re: What to spend my Commendations on First - Warg?
Thanks SOOOO much for all these replies. Great info and it has been a ton of fun so far.
I'm a little confused on MfP and MfD definitions but I'm sure I can figure it out (Masteries?).
Re: What to spend my Commendations on First - Warg?
Yep, unfortunately when you start out you hit like a noodle and die like a poodle (sorry for the pun). You need more survivability as well as higher dps, with the limited amount of commendations at lower ranks you'll have to choose though and while the extra dps is nice it's also more expensive you might be better off starting with morale and get the extra DfP once you have commendations to spare.
