    Beginner Moors Hunter Seeking Advice

Hi, I recently just started having fun in the moors. I currently have Faron set with audacity boots, traited 5b2r.

I want to get better, especially at 1v1. What's getting me right now is my "tunnel vision," that is, keeping my eyes fixed on the skillbar rather than my surroundings.

So tell me, what do GOOD hunters do that differentiate them from all the other hunters? Looking for advice on:

    -Gear/Items
    -Traits
    -Virtues
-Kiting and Mouse turning? (Heard about it, not sure what it is)
    -Moors LI legacies/relics
    -Starting rotations
-The little things that make a difference

Thanks, and may your arrow fly true!

Well, I'd first suggest on working to get the full set of moors gear (6 pieces, usually a 2/2/2 pair of each) for the R7 Audacity as that -30% damage is essential to survivability.

I haven't been on in awhile so I'll just write down what I know 100% from the list you're asking about.

Mouse turning is a great skill to know (using the mouse to turn your character's facing position to always be facing your opponent as he's running through and around you). Without, you'll be nearing the end of inductions and the shot won't go off, and you'll lose those precious seconds without gaining any focus, doing any damage, and letting yourself be hit.

For a Moors bow, I suggest always having 25% crit mag for induction/focus bow (any hunter bow tbh needs these) and 5% QS critical chance/ The last three spots are all up to preference. I have Burn Hot/Heart Seeker/Barbed Arrow on mine, but some hunters would replace any one of those with an agility legacy or vitality. As long as you have the first three majors, you can decide which is best. I like maxing BH and barbed bleed, as the DoT, while small, is nice to have ticking at 300+ thru creep mits.

There are a few opening attacks I do, depending on the creep class and how much morale it has. From stealth ooc, I'll pop NH and BH (I go 5r/2b usually), use Imp. Focus, then hit Swift bow -> blood -> pen -> pen, and on a low ranked creep it'll usually be dead by the first pen shot, but if higher ranked you could use Imp. Conc. and get 9 more focus (or focus pot) to spam some more pen shots. If you're gonna be running faron set for awhile, you'll have more spam shots with Fleetness so don't worry too much.

For a blue traited hunter, you need NEED to have Deadly Precision/Resolute Aim traited at all times. Getting focus back on crit and no induction set backs are a hunter's life blood.

I've probably forgotten a lot right now, but it's late and my brain's dead :P

Goodluck and remember, hunter's are the bottom of the barrel so get used to dying solo

For 1v1s, I'm not a fan of kiting, rather pop Needful Haste right off the bat and stand still for the duration of the fight. I consider Resolute Aim a must regardless of trait line.

Sometimes mouse turning can be quite hard, especially if the creep knows what he's doing plus server lag. In this case I would do a Dazing Blow, even if lasting for a split second, to help get that Swift Bow off.

Don't ignore your melee skills as many hunters seem to do - you have Dazing Blow stun as mentioned, Scourging Blow to negate Barbed Arrow induction, Low Cut Bleed (with legacy). When used at the opportune times they can make the difference. 90% of 1v1s will be in melee range.

Other than that, you will likely end up doing the majority of your damage by spamming focus skills.

Plz dont forget blindside, interrupt, damage and adds focus which leads to more damage.
    work in progress...

I've fought alot of 1v1s, and my personal advice is to only use Dazing Blow when you plan to chain a Low-cut right behind it. When your opponent is dazed, you won't have to worry about b/p/e If you don't think b/p/e is a big deal, you've not fought enough 1v1s against quality/ranked opponents. As a side note, I stack a good amount of finesse (about 20%), and I find it very useful.

To the OP specifically, get a 2/2/2 Moors set with whatever you prefer. I went with:

    Pedator: Boots/Legs
    Precision: Pauldrons/Gloves
    Entrapment: Helm/Jacket

No full set bonuses are worth it imo. However, there are people who run them with some success. My best advice to any new hunter going into the Moors is to just reroll a different class.

Hunter is in a real pickle a the moment. i dont recommend going out there since you will just get frustrated (especially as a beginner) and you will die the moment anyone is on you without the audacity gear.

wait till update 7 and kinda hold your breath that our developer will do something about the class. if there are no changes in u7 than go ahead and sink or swim. hunter is currently the worst class to be out there.

unless you got the best of everything gear wise than you probably will be sticking strictly to the raids and die a lot with nothing to show for it.

but if you really want to go out there now, here are some tips:

    Stick to the friendly forts
    never travel alone
use cammo whenever you plan to stand still for more than 7-8 sec out of combat
use low cut whenever possible in melee
ether stack morale or stack DPS.... there is no middle ground. (well there is but its a tedious balance)

Re: Beginner Moors Hunter Seeking Advice

    - positioning on group fights:

Hunters and Loremaster are usually the 1st targets, because they do good dps and they are easy to kill.

Don't be mad if u one one of the first to die.

Sometimes the fight moves and the hunter stay behind shooting. Don't do that ever, you will be warg meat. Stop shooting and move with the group.

Always camouflage and always do tracks when the group stop moving. Track Track Track. Nature track is the 1st options, wargs, we hate them. Tell the leader u are tracking and the result (a bad leader/group will move and leave u behind when u are tracking).

Follow the target caller target, u will draw less attention to yourself that way and will help the group.

When possible, shoot in places where u can get out of line of sight and have some protection: Trees, rocks, walls, etc..

    - if u are solo

Try to stay close or in range of other groups/npcs/keeps. For example, fight between STAB and EC. Always camouflage and tracks. Track Track Track. Set traps too. Use the focus buff to do your 1st attack (even if the focus are full, use the Focus skill and interrupt to get the focus buff).

    - trait

In my opinion, blue line is the way to go for a hunter, and on moors I use:
    * 5 blues: Any u like, but Resolute Aim is mandatory. I also like: Swift Recovery, Strong Draw, Rapid Recovery, Deadly Precision.
    * 1 yellow: Heightened Senses.
    * 1 red: True Shot.

    * Legendary traits: Rain of Thorns and Bard's Arrow for the CC, hunters need CC on moors. Improved Fleetness is very good to run faster, shoot running and shoot more.
    * If u are an elf, trait the race evade bonus (eldar grace I think).

    - amour and morale

    * Get the moors armour set as soon as possible (do moors quests to speed up). I am using the precision set (additional -25% CC duration on the regular -50% CC from audacity 7).

Don't worry if u lose some PM. U need to get your morale at least close to 7k unbuffed. Lower morale freeps are targeted first.

    - consumables

Have all effect pots with u and buffbars up to help u use them.

U need focus pots that many hunter neglect. It can be a life savior and sometimes u need to finish a strong creep (WL for one) before they start healing (on group fights, hunters don't solo 1v1 a WL).

Traps, u need traps, many traps.

Bow chants, Breach-finder is my option. Even the tier6 -1300 is good.

Fire oil, use fire oil all times. For moors, use the 5m one that u can buy (no need to use the better ones, u usually die before they finish. hehehe).
