I was just browsing through my Facebook feed and saw a post from The Elder Scrolls's page that they're going to be releasing The Elder Scrolls Online and gave this link: http://www.gameinformer.com/p/elderscrollsonline.aspx Not sure if this is a hoax or not but they're a month late if this is their April Fools Day joke. :P

Would you guys be checking it out? :3
Not only checking it out but if true and half as good as elder scrolls single player computer games I will probably say good bye to Midle-earth and the Biased community here.

Open-world 3-faction RvR PvP. Isn't that throwing your gentle single-player fanbase under the MMO bus? Can we guess a gear tier raiding progression endgame? I want to get excited about this, but everything I've heard so far makes me nauseated.

The idea makes me nervous. It signals a change in design principals that they have always prided themselves on. NEVER would release a multiplayer TES title? I guess money changes everything.
As far as open world PvP, all day every day, NOT A CHANCE. They might have open PvP servers ala OU, but they aren't stupid.
It's way to early to judge. Until there's a demo and some discussion of actual game play elements, I'll hold off on screaming.
If it's half way decent, I'll be relieved. Not because I don't think they can deliver, but I sure as hell am NOT setting myself up for life altering disappointment should they tank it. I love Bethesda's work. I love TES and Fallout 3. If they can pull this off EVEN I WILL BE CALLING IT A LOTRO KILLER. But no way I'm getting swept away without something solid.
The fact that it's being produced by Zenimax Online Studios rather than Bethesda specifically (who are a child company of Zenimax) worries me. Certainly won't be holding my breath for it to be a world beater.
Personally the thought of playing Skyrim with the constant concern that the abilities I'd been training in would be changed/nerfed for PvP reasons is a frustrating one.
All in all, there seems to be zero innovation. Every feature they bring up already exists in other MMOs. And then there's the Elder Scrolls mainstays that will NOT be features of the MMO.
Reception so far seems to be from lukewarm to negative. And I must say I am not very exited either.
I can't wait to find out more details. Hopefully, the game won't lose its magic when it becomes an MMO. I'll have to suspend my judgement until release. :3
Hindi ako maligaya. (I'm not happy). To me this means the death of the single player franchise that I have loved since Daggerfall. I'm bummed.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
Civ II rules after all these years......
It doesnt mean death to anything, im cautious but hopeful at the moment. I dont think for a minute its the end of the single player TES games.
I really hope you're right and I'm over reacting.

I remember them referencing an MMO right after Oblivion was released. I was actually surprised Skyrim wasn't an MMO. I ended up skipping Skyrim when they went the Steam route on a single player game. Its far too early for me to get excited, but there is high possibility of them making a really solid game.
Well, as far as the continuation of the single player game...
I think in order to survive in this current market of cooperative games, Bethesda/Zenimax has to have an online title to pay the bills.
I hope (hope) this will give them the opportunity to take a long time crafting the next installment. I hope designing an MMO leads to better overall design of the single player game. I hope it takes 10 years to release the next installment.
No, I'm not crazy. Okay a little.
Their fanbase has become so spoiled rotten that even a brilliant game like Skyrim is catching serious heat. I don't mind waiting. I think in the next 5 to 10 years it will finally become possible for a game company like Bethesda to create the modern version of Daggerfall. By that I mean how Daggerfall STUNNED the world with its size and depth and detail. It's time for another game like that, but the technology needs to creep a little bit closer to VR before it can be done.
So, lets hope at the very least it succeeds whether we enjoy it or not. Otherwise... TITANIC!!!
On one hand, the prospect of exploring Tamriel on this scale is just too exciting to say no to. Further, there's plenty of interesting places to go to for future expansions, like new Daedric planes, or maybe even Akavir. Though the suggested timeline is a bit removed from the rest of the games in the series (save for Redguard), there's still plenty of potential for interesting stories.
On the other hand, how well does The Elder Scrolls translate into an MMO? Will you be able to kill just about anyone you wish, sneak into homes at night and steal stuff, talk, or threaten, people into liking you, and so on? There are certain features that helps define The Elder Scrolls, that makes it The Elder Scrolls, and I'm curious how these features will be translated for an MMO. Certainly it has the potential to end up a great game, but will it retain the feel of an Elder Scrolls-game, or will it lose some of it's defining features as it goes from single player to MMO?

Cautiously optimistic.
Exactly. If its an RPG set in Tamriel... PASS! But if its actually Elder Scrolls... then I may get exciting depending on how they choose to release.

Yeah, I have to agree with this one. From their forums, you would think that Skyrim is just like Atari's E.T.

I see where BethSoft is talking about a "new take" on PvP, but I don't see where people are getting the idea this will be an open-world PvP game .... like someone else said, maybe there will be PvP servers, but I can't see it being a full-on all-the-time open-world game.
I might be interested in trying it, provided it's not an open-world PvP thing ... but unlike many, I've never been a BethSoft fan, have never gotten into their games, & am intensely suspicious of any new MMO.
Edit: the lengthy article in Game Informer tells me that Zenimax is trying to make a 2012 version of Dark Age Of Camalot. It could be more interesting than I'd originally thought, provided that the three "leveling areas" are enough to allow people like me to play without needing to ever worry about the RvR stuff. OTOH, while this just may be the GI article's bias, it seemed to me like a LOT of effort & emphasis is being put into the RvR/PvP aspect of this game, & that bothers me greatly. & yes ... the central "Cyrodil" province of the game world will be an "open PvP" environment, so at least some of that discussion has been accurate; the entire world will apparently not be, but that central province will, which is reminiscent of DAoC's "frontier zones."
According to the article: NO PLAYER HOUSING
