    Raid Hugger

So I won't lie, I'm not all that good at 1v1 pvp, maybe average at best in most games but I'm looking at the classes in lotro and trying to figure out what would be a good raid baby class. Possibly in the future after some gear I can venture out and try to get some solo skills.

Just for some general info on me, I play on brandywine. Also I have almost all the classes at 20-45, all but two are 30+ so far so its not for the lack of trying that I come to the forums for help. I enjoy all types of classes (i think its my downfall). I'm not a big fan of tanking in pve I have found out. (is pve required to get gear for pvmp?). I don't mind healing but I don't want to be stuck specifically to that role, i'd like to dps occasionally, even though I do like the mini. My favorite classes if i had to narrow it down would be champ, mini, rk, and capt. I also have a warden at 30, 32 guard and 20 burglar. Not really interested in playing a hunter, two of my buddies already are playing hunts.

So what would you pvmp vets suggest someone like me that really likes the classes in lotro but am having trouble narrowing it down. I really would like to get something to 75 and see pvmp before the next xpac! I've also been looking for youtube videos on the classes play style at 75 but have only found a couple.

No PvE is required for the pvmp gear, but most freeps do it since it's easier than fighting actual people :O.

Mini - you will dps 95% of the time, be godmode, and most creeps will hate your guts (at least until the mini nerf)
Burglar - More than likely you won't be in the raids, but outside of them goldtagging
Captain - people will love you in groups, but if you want to solo, you will probably have difficulties
Hunter - in groups you will be wanted for your dps, but you will probably be the first target for creeps. Solo, you will probably have trouble
LM - may or may not be wanted for groups (depends on how many they have already). Solo you will probably have difficulties
Champ -more than likely wanted in a group for dps. Solo you might have trouble at the start, but it's easy to pick up, especially if you run blue line
Guard - not sure how you will be desired for groups. Solo, same as champ (except the blue line part)
Warden - probably not wanted in groups (unless they are pveing), but you will be a god solo even if you don't know anything about the class, just go shield line
RK - probably desired in groups for dps. Solo, will probably have trouble if you don't know your class. If you do, then you probably won't have much trouble

As for healing, more than likely any class you choose (except cappy) will be wanted to dps 90% of the time.

Samus thanks for the reply. That gives me some pretty good perspective. You mention a nerf for the mini. I looked up the update 7 that is coming up. Are there plans to nerf them? Or is it just generally thought that they need one?

i wouldnt take most of what he is saying to heart, he is just an old bitty QQing like everyone else on the forums. They are planning on making a game wide healing nerf in WS, though idk when they are going to implement it. Personally I don't care. I don't heal every attack i get thrown at me like most minis who are afraid to lose 70% morale and just look at ratings and kill death ratios. Ive pissed more creeps off heal traited in a group keeping a raid alive then going dps

There hasn't been any official notice of it, but it is coming. Possibly U7, but can't be certain. They definitely need one though (to reduce healing in WS).

What I said is based off of what I've seen in freep compositions on E and what I've heard from freeps.

And what's the difference between a nerf to healing in WS for minis and a nerf to healing in WS for any other class?? No other class has WS :S...

Again, I said that my views were based off of what I see on E and the freep groups there. When you see a group with 3 minis and they're all in WS and the group wipes... one can assume that after 3 years of seeing 95% of minis in WS that you will probably be wanted in WS 95% of the time.

If you want to be a raid hugger, roll a hunter and stack your agility to over 2k.

Or, be any other freep class that a raid is composed of.

As a RK/Mini you're only going to be healing in raid situations, solo or small grouped you'll be stacking DPS traits and going for your burst damage.

Warden/Guards usually just go whatever stance gives them the most DPS, or if they want to annoy every creep out there, go tank stance (block stance/shield way or whatever) and just tank everything to hell.

Burglars are nice since you'll have incombat stealth options, and you can generally stealth around without pulling NPC aggro and can hide from creeps.

Hunters are tough, gotta be a damn good hunter to do much solo against any competent creep that catches you unawares.

Champs are considered by creeps as OP gods, having massive bubbles, high DPS, and anti-slow for a max of 45s. They're overall one of the best classes to solo/raid/small group with.

Lore Masters are like hunters, but have more utility on their own due to the CC and debuffs they offer. Still sometimes hard solo.

Have fun out there once you get there <3

    Re: Raid Hugger

Since you don't like the hunter go with an LM. When raid hugging you probably won't get many setbacks. Be aware tho...LM's are one the creeps first targets...So watch ur positioning and always have ur sign of righteousness.

    Re: Raid Hugger

In my opinion, the best Freep class to play in a Raid is a Captain. You have healing ability, heavy armor, survival skills, and some DPS. It is also a class that is frequently needed in PvE, so you should have no trouble getting groups to gear up with.

    Re: Raid Hugger

As a hunter in a raid unless you are constantly shield walled you're just gonna be easy points for creeps, roll champ if you're only gonna raid. They're far more useful and are almost never focused, but left to dps carefree until
Everyone else is dead. It's pretty blissful.
