Now part of The Galloping Gala! Test your skill and mettle in the Grand Greenfields Gallop! Join us in Brockenborings, bring your finest pony and be prepared to outwit and outmaneuver your fellows over a challenging course. Compete for wonderful prizes and the admiration of locals and competitors alike! Read on for more information!

Date: Sunday May 6th
Time: Assemble from 7.00PM GMT+1 (2PM servertime). The event starts at 7:30PM GMT+1 (2:30PM servertime)
Place: Brockenborings (Bullroarer party fields east of town), The Shire.

An annual party, the Grand Greenfields Gallop is where the northern hobbits meet to celebrate spring, dress in their finest and impress their favourite lad or lass. Traditionally, they also bring their trusted ponies with them to roam the grassy fields after the long winter. Dancing and merriment fills the day, but the centrepiece of the party is the pony race.

The race around the Greenfields takes place as a knockout competition, where the final champion has proven him- or herself to be a master of all things equine. The route itself honours the work of the local quick post hobbits, who brave both the dangerous wild beasts on the Greenfields as well as grumpy old umbrella-wielding hobbits in their line of work.

Practical information

This is a hobbit-preferred event, but riders of all shapes and sizes are welcome! This is a roleplaying event, so please stay in character and follow the Laurelin server RP and naming guidelines.

Prizes awarded during the event include a Perlino Steed and codes for Turbine Points. In addition to the race, a panel of judges will look for the mount and rider outfit combination they deem most likely to impress a hobbit. So even if you’re not racing, you are encouraged to spend much time on your mount and put some effort into your outfit!

In addition to the contests, we plan for a festive party with music, entertainment and merry moods. So come celebrate spring with us even if you don’t enter the race, dress in your hobbit-looking best and remember to participate in the pony dancing!

Early registration to the pony/horse race is now well on the way, so it is recommended you get in early to secure your spot. You can do that by sending an in-game letter to Lina. Be sure to include your character name AND the name of your horse/pony. Also read up on the racing rules and practical information.

As for the Perlino Steed that is awarded to the winner of the Gallop, we believe it is an account-wide mount. This means that the code will "give the Perlino Steed to all characters currently on your account and any characters that you may make in the future" (likely on the same account). So it is a grand thing indeed!

Besides the mount, we have a few other prizes as well. Some will be randomly drawn among the riders who enter the race (not least to give an incentive to join even if you experience lag or hitching). Others are based on our outfit and mount combination competition, which means that even the audience has a chance to win something. A panel of judges will wander the crowds and look for grand combinations of mounts and matching outfits, and they will pick a few winning combinations most likely to impress a hobbit. So be sure to bring your mount even if you don't join the race, wear a matching hobbity outfit, and you could also walk home with lovely stuff afterwards.

Gratulations! I didn't win but you organize this race extrem well. A lot of small nice details like one kinmember shoot a rocket when the riders pass the control points. Well done and exiting.

So the race had everything happening. Many excited people showing up, lots of ponies roaming the Greenfields, some stumbling in badger holes (lags happening, we even had the leader of one of the heats sadly DC during her final lap), but still a lively festive atmosphere, with uniformly hight spirits among all participants and the audience. Thank yer all for coming and adding to the atmosphere! Yer were great!

After the four initial heats, four riders battled it out in the final: Perseid, Anewald, Golwendion and Frebor. In the end, the final was won by master Perseid on his lovely pony Nettels. Hopefully, she'll still be of use after yer get yer new Perlino mount! Congratulations!

Several other prizes were given, some to the riders, some to the festively-dressed audience present. Well done!

What an amazing event, simply amazing. Lots of ponies and riders all turning up to enjoy the race, music and good hobbit company.

Even though we had a few issues with badger holes (Lag) for some riders, the whole thing went fairly smoothly which deserves a cheer for those attending for following the rules and just enjoying themselves.

So I'd like to say another big well done to Lina for arranging such a wonderful event, to the band members for keeping the crowd entertained while the rules and route were shown.

And to those who turned up, cause without those ponies and riders we wouldn't of had much of an event.
