Oh, I did! I started watching the show pretty recently, as it happens I saw that particular episode yesterday.

Would have been really fun...if all servers had events. Seems to me that Turbine should have created alternative events for servers that have no contributors.

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
As myself and Sapience have been pointing out on social media, these events are 100% player created and run. The only thing we have done on our side is provided these event organizers with Turbine Point codes and Perlino Steed codes. If your server wasn't represented, no one on the server may have stepped forward to help run an event after we put out the call. As much as I'd love to help foster events across all servers (and I do!) I do need some assistance from willing volunteers. Events cannot happen without brave event organizers.
However, many of these events have been created so that lower leveled players can participate. Some event organizers have created special lower level brackets for players to run in, or the events are parties that are in easily reachable areas of Middle-earth (such as the Spring Racing Carnival in Bree-town on Landroval.) So, even if an event is not on your server, you can easily roll an alternate character on an event server and participate in the fun!Last edited by Celestrata; May 03 2012 at 02:57 PM.

Are you kidding me?
An event (which seems really awesome) on only like 3 servers??
I feel mocked.
Or am I overlooking something?
EDIT after seeing the above post:
Ok, I get it. A pity though. Non-US servers always feel so boring.

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
This looked so awesome since it was advertised as a major event.
Then I saw a tiny handful of servers will only be having this.
I never saw anything about this, anywhere, least of all on the log in page where ALL players cast their eyes when logging in, that mentioned this and asked for kinships to host these events on their servers. No, I do not troll and live on the forums, I have a life, so telling me to scour the forums all day everyday is a useless suggestion, sorry.
Why advertise player run events, on only a few select servers as a major event this way?
Very unfair if you ask me. Most players I would think would like a chance to win codes for the rare mounts unavailable in game or store and only a tiny percentage live anywhere near those PAX live events, not to mention have money to attend things like this.
Disappointed, guys.

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
The Spring Racing Carnival is a realization of a dream by one of Landrovals players named Duvelon. He formed the idea from the Australian event and modified it into the game event it was. The first event was like no other event We ever saw on our server, and The Lonely Mountain Band got permission to carry it into its 2nd year. Weatherstock is also an event born from a member of that same kinship.
Dont complain! Start your own servers events! If they are properly run and they are entertaining, wont they succeed? I think its wonderful for the Pr folks at Turbine/WB to help US promote our own events.Tinki-Rixi-Dazzl-Nibli-Trikzi-Pipsi-Skinni

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
If you have an idea for an Ettenmoors event, write it up and send it over! Be specific and make sure it's something that other players on other servers can use as a template, or something that might encourage others to start similar events of their own. We'd love to see someone create broadly inclusive player events for the Ettenmoors! Let's hear what ya got! lotro@Turbine.com is the email address.
Tarienne, Fripiara pretty much answered the question, but to answer the part about why advertise player run events; To encourage others to come up with their own events. Like I said to Aedon, write it up and send it over! Tie it into a real world event if you like, or not.
We support player events like Weatherstock, that take place on a single server once a year, so we're absolutely willing to help support yours.
That's exactly the point. To get the word out about player events, show how awesome our community members are, and (if we're lucky) get other players motivated to come up with their own events.
In fact, for those playing on the former EU servers, what holidays would you like to share with LOTRO players? Tie your event to a local Holiday. We're listening.Rick Heaton, Community Manager, The Lord of the Rings Online.

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
The Lonely Mountain Band is always happy to have visitors from other servers come to our events. Levelling an event alt is pretty quick and all our events are held at low level areas or with security and escorts for level 6 and above. You can even participate in racing events via the free "horse whistle" you get from the intro quest. The prizes that Turbine has provided makes winning portable, since you can take your points and mounts back to your home server.

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
The fact that Turbine is promoting player-made events and offering prizes of their own is a big step into the direction of bigger and bigger such events. Yes, not all servers have events in game but the whole of player community has acces to the competitions for screenshots. And by all means roll an alt and check things out :P, be part of the events and next time two things may happen: Turbine's call will be louder so more will answer it (maybe on a loading screen or on the launcher) and more will step up and organise events.
Now to go straights to the point :P Please do visit the server forums where im sure you will find details about each event. And if you are interested in a mind twisting, will numbing Trivia endurance race do visit the Withywindle forum and just roll an alt for fun (i suggest you play a bit even else you wont be able to face a peril greater than a rat in Bilbo's cellars :P)
Cheers and enjoy the celebrations

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
If you plan to run an equestrian event on your server, please send the details to Windy Acres Ranch. I would love to feature your event on my web site - WindyAcres.MyMiddle-Earth.net
Players from all servers are welcome to come to Landroval to participate in Windy Acres Ranch races and shows. You only need a standard speed (162%) mount to participate. No speed buffs are allowed, so you don't need any extra gold, Turbine Points or class skills to compete.
The web site also has articles with all of the tips and tricks we've accumulated along the way. It might give you some ideas for running your own horse races and shows.
Remember, if you win a Perlino mount on Landroval at a Windy Acres Ranch or Lonely Mountain Band event, you'll win the mount for every character on every server, on your primary account. The Turbine Point codes will also go with you. These are prizes you can take back to your home server!Last edited by XinaLotRO; May 03 2012 at 05:31 PM. Reason: I can spell, honest!

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
Its great to see Turbine doing this, well done!
Just a question. My understanding is that, this refers to musical/concert-like and horse-race themed only events, is that right? If yes, thats fine, just asking because i saw that long time RP Events, such as the Green Dragon Friday and Hall of Fire on Laurelin are not on the list and i was wondering

"We're looking for player events that are Horse/Racing themed that could be run between the dates of May 3rd and May 16th!"Sapience also said (earlier in this thread) they're listening to event ideas any server might have as to large scale events, specifically mentioning the EU servers.
I personally would love to see all the servers get involved in planning not only more events, but a wider variety of events. I have no problem rolling alts to try check them out as it is always fun to see what others have come up with

well it would be awesome if monsterplayers could hear music, Ive often been dragged into ettenmoors by my kinnies, forced to play music. Unless that has been changed it would be awesome and an event opener if creeps could hear music.

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
I hope that Turbine will continue to make similar efforts in the future along other themes. I love putting together community events, but horses/racing isn't my thing. And perhaps "the call" should be more blatant next time. As far as I can tell, it was only that one post in the "announcements and service updates" forum. I don't know about other players, but I almost never look at that forum. It should have been on the launcher at least.

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
It was interesting to see this pop-up, and timely for Sons of Numenor as well. We've long been known for our trademark formation rides through different zones, especially Bree. We were about to post a standing monthly patrol that is open to the community of Landroval. Now seems as good a time as any to announce and launch it. To which:

A post "Ales and Tales" Thunder Ride following our hosting LMB.
FAQ:
What is this about?
Since its foundation in 2008, Sons of Numenor has patrolled across Middle-earth in formation and uniform. Now we are sponsoring a monthly ride, open to all community members and Kinships to join.
Where does it start?
We will assemble at The Golden Perch, help those joining us get into formation, and begin.
Where does it go?
We will ride at walking speed, through Breeland, through Bree, and pausing at the South Gate, before continuing to The Forsaken Inn.
Then what is the Thunder Ride?
Sometimes you just can't drive 55. Other times you can't spend all night walking to Rivendell. Either way, we will take all able to join or continue with us, at a full-speed rush directly to The Last Homely House in Rivendell.
Then what?
We will gather about Rivendell for a modest fireworks show, and an afterparty of light RP, music, and fellowship in The Hall of Fire.
Do I need to RSVP?
No, but we would appreciate any larger groups attending to check-in, so we can plan for your presence.
Can I play music?
Certainly, we will organize the open stage for music in several corners of The Hall of Fire.
BYOB?
Pish posh, we shall supply ale and pipe-weed for all!

I have a question: if I have multiple accounts, will the rewards be automatically applied to the account of the character that wins, or will I get a code to use on whichever account I want?
Also, are there any events that could be easily done by a low-level alternate that hasn't gotten the riding skill yet? I don't actually play on any of the servers listed.

Re: The Galloping Gala Discussion
It would have been nice if LOTRO had sponsored some events too. There are places in the Horse Fields that have never been used in game, the perfect setting for this type of event. I'm glad three of the servers get to participate, but what about the rest of us? It's not like Elendilmir is exactly devoid of life here.....
