What do you think of burgs? (update 6+)

I play freepside as a cappy mostly and always had a high opinion of burgs in the moors.

    This guy doesn't though: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...p-in-the-moors

Obviously this guy is a troll (and possibly a fail burg), not the first thread he's made on it. However posting in the burg forum isn't very interesting. In the end the ones either destroying or being destroyed by the class would have the most to say I would think?

    I'm interested anyways

He said RKs are getting owned in 1vs1..

Why should I trust his opinion about Burgs?

I don't think I have the right opinion, considering that most of them don't leave stealth.

Considering 1v1's, I find burgs one of the easiest to fight, although the good ones stun lock me, and get positional damage.

I think that Burgs, while not as pants-on-head OP as they used to be, are still an extremely powerful class, with high burst damage, strong CC and most importantly of all, stealth.

Re: What do you think of burgs? (update 6+)

As a freep with a small amount of + stealth detect, I notice them much more often now than in the past.

I don't think it is a game-wide change, because I do not see wargs any better than in the past. Maybe its due to gear choices. Either way, I think it makes a big difference to them.

Re: What do you think of burgs? (update 6+)

Burgs are no longer faceroll easy.

They are still decently easy, but especially against wargs, the good and bad burgs become blatantly obvious. While, atm, I think that a good warg shouldn't lose to a good burg 95% of the time, it is still possible for a burg to win. Against other creep classes I can't speak too much. I wouldn't think that many things would have changed other than the introduction of high ranked creep skills due to the store.

As for stealth levels, yes, I notice burgs about 80% of the time. I believe that most have just dropped +stealth gear and traits and whatnot in favor of damage or survivability. I still wouldn't call them underpowered or anything, just that they are less OP than they used to be, which requires burgs to actually know their class and skills. Good burgs are still very powerful.

I think that part of the apparently destruction of burgs since U6 is that many/most still don't know how to deal with wargs and spiders updates.

Cant really comment on burgs for my server. They are very rare now. Most that I know don't like how audacity has cut their CC usefulness out there, and apparently they are getting spam tracked. So when I see one, i'm actually glad because its a nice change from all the Mini's/Rk's/hunters I see.

In terms of how good they are, most of the ones I've spotted are decent since U6, but not as scary as they were in the past.

I have not PvMPed pre roi, but from what ive seen good burgs still kick butt, and bad burgs...well idk any bad burgs because there are so few on m server. These types of threads are almost pointless since everyone is on one side of the fence or the other and can hardley come up with a conclusion of their own. Re: What do you think of burgs? (update 6+)

It's not necessarily the new creep updates, rather audacity. Sure, wargs and spiders pose a much bigger challenge than before with their updates. But that's not the big killer. Audacity. Going from a 1v1 perspective of course.

Pre-aud I would be critting for about 5k. That's a bit much, yeah, but hitting spiders with their b/p/e, slow, debuffs and multiple dots for 2k just isn't getting the job done anymore. Wargs are still beatable. Too bad there's never any solo wargs on my server.

I just stay away from good WL's now. Now with audacity, I could probably chase a particular R9 across the entire map and not kill him. Probably the same for defilers, though I haven't experienced it first hand since after U6.

Reavers. Generally close fights with the R14 on my server.

Burglars are still a very viable class and potent in the right hands. We just aren't what we used to be. And because burglars have fallen off of the top, most people I know retired their burg and just generally complain a lot on the forums now.

    <3 you all

    This

Burgs are still very strong in the right hands.. Spiders with their crazy BPE are a real challenge. But it is possible to beat them with stuns in the right moments. Before U6 the class was just incredible op.. Think i killed nearly every MP <13k morale in the 5sec riddle.. Now it´s a litte bit more difficult and I´m satisfied with that

I hate burgs because today, I was fighting that big elite boss auroch thing with a bunch of friends, and a burg came, right before the auroch was about to die, and when i didnt have much health left, and killed me. I know it's not all burgs, but that's just ####, I mean seriously? Why not actually fight me. Oh and any reaver tips, I'll be glad to take 'em , just started today.

Doesn't putting on +Stealth gear before you enter stealth, stealthing, and then switching to your real gear let you retain the +Stealth level from the switched gear? I was under the impression it worked like this. Most Wargs run around with +8 Stealth level assuming they have the appropriate traits. I don't see why Burg should be very different.

Re: What do you think of burgs? (update 6+)

So after finishing up on gw1 with my 30th HoM point, fire god's vambrace ./drool, I logged my warg in last night and came across a hobbit burg. The server was dead with a total of 2-3 freeps to 3-10 creeps. Now this burg I came across is considered one of the servers most active and skilled and one that plays like a champion. He was just sitting there inviting any who dare to attack him. On my r12 warg in shadow stance I destroyed him but didn't care for the kill, I wanted another fight. So he regened and I stealth tracked him again he didn't fair well but I didn't kill him. This time I let him spot me in stealth so he could attack me from stealth and he pretty much did to me what I did to him in half the time. We were about to attempt a fourth round both un-stealthed but the hungry hippos caught up to us and interrupted us. Granted this was a small sample size where CDs were not being used in every round and myself personally could have been doing a lot better on account of me not playing my warg in 2-3 weeks. It was a little funny how a r7 warg interrupted us on round 4 (not sure if in shadow) but couldn't kill the burg. Burgs are deadly but wargs are by far much easier to play imo.
