I'm going to try my hardest to keep a pleasant/neutral tone in this. If I don't quite succeed please realize that I intend this as constructive criticism.
This facebook image and pretty much everything from Sapience in this thread is a prime example of the poor communication that Turbine seems to be incapable of fixing. I realize that your intention is to drum up some amount of enthusiasm from your fanbase, but this pretty much just fails at it. It comes across like a 8-year old kid gloating that he knows something another kid doesn't know. It seems to be more about your ego than providing any amount of joy or information to your fans.
A puzzle has a correct answer that is clearly correct when attempted. This is not a puzzle. At best it's a bad riddle. The answer is whatever you want it to be. "6,5" is a right answer. "People wearing horse heads are unable to complete basic sequences" is a right answer. "The next raid boss challenge mechanic will be to do 6 FMs while mounted and contribute 1 less person each time" is also a right answer. It's pointless.
Assuming that this is in fact something regarding RoR the question I would like you to ask yourself is this: Why do we feel compelled to do something which mostly annoys our customers instead of just posting a cool screenshot with "see more on mm/dd/yyyy"?

Because guessing and speculating is fun, well at least to some people. This is not an example of poor communication this is a teaser of information to come. It's a sort of game to try to figure out what the picture is saying.
I like puzzles. I understand not everyone does. As long at the information will be revealed in full further down the line I think teasers and puzzles are okay.

Er, no it isn't. At all. This is an example of a bit of intended fun(GASP! I used the F word!), and also happens to be a tease of the sort Sapience has long been fond of. And frankly your comment about it being about his ego is NOT constructive criticism, it's baseless speculation, if not outright insulting.
Finally, how do you know that it mostly annoys people? Are you privy to some sort of poll that the rest of us aren't? Or are you just presuming to speak for the playerbase?
We write our dates as if they're spoken...although that may not help either.
In common speech we say June 5th rather than the 5th of June. So we write it 6/5.
I'm not sure if that helps or just confuses the issue further, but yes, as someone who works with people overseas quite a bit it can be confusing from time to time.
And we say "5th of June" Or -th of whatever.
I think it's more likely to be June 5th, though, because 6th of May is a Sunday and nothing happens on Sundays. As said. Even if E3 is on or something, it won't be reported on in great detail until Monday.

As a current Turbine customer I do admit there are some things that Turbine (devs) do that annoy me but this one would hardly qualify as one of them.

Sundays happen on a Sunday and that is something which is definately not a nothing.
(and yes, I do realize what you meant, but I couldn't resist being divergently silly. I'll let you all get back to your diligent reasonings and wild speculations now. Number make my brain hurt.)
... good logic .. So my guess is that the pre-order site for ROR will go up on 6/5/12. We can probably expect some good information about ROR to come from E3 as well, and probably a beta sometime in July or so. But as for 6/5, my skirmish marks are on a pre-order page.
I also think that it is the date when the RoR pre-order starts: June 5th
If we assume that the solution is "6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1" then the "puzzly" explanation could be that "6" and "5" are the first two numbers in the "order" -- hence, they are the "pre" "order."
Or, alternatively, the first dates of the "countdown" to RoR.
Um, we're not sure what the release date will be yet and fall is a big range. I'm not saying that June 5th will be related to the beta, but the last three "Fall" releases have been:
F2P - Sept. 10th, 2010
RoI - Sept. 27th, 2011
SoM - Dec. 1st, 2009
As for when betas started:
F2P - Middle of June (June 17th)
RoI - July 27th
Again, not saying beta will start on that date, but I'd say you're 6 months of beta you've mentioned a couple of times may be further off than guessing that whatever the answer is may be related to the beta in anyway.
