You acquire Riding Skill in 2 ways: you either do the Riding Quest (requires current VIP and level 20+) or you buy it from Store. Once you acquire it, you have it: if you buy it from Store you can no longer do the Quest and vise versa.

Riding Skill is per character. Each of your character has to acquire one to ride a Mount, either from Quest or from Store.

you must be level 20 to get the ridding skill quest. If your not level 20 you can not get the quest.

The riding quest is only available to VIP (subscribing) players once they have reached level 20. If your not VIP, you can not do the quest. If you have purchased the skill in the store, you dont need to do the quest, you can ride any mount you have straight away. The riding skill is a per character skill, so you must buy it, or quest it on every character you create.

Then get a horse, because now you can ride! (On that one character - whichever you were logged-in with when you bought Riding.)

And because that character can ride, they cannot do the quest. That character doesn't need to do the quest - because he/she can already ride.

For the other toon(s), either buy it or (if you are VIP) wait for Lvl 20 and do quest.

I think you are confusing some things a bit. There are temporary mounts, which expire and swift-travel unlocks, which also expire.

There is also a permanent riding skill, which doesn't expire, but only works on character. It costs 95TP in the store if you aren't VIP. After getting that permanent unlock of the riding passive skill, and you have an horse (possible to aqcuire in the game), you can ride as much as you want on that horse, without paying more TP's on that character. Much better as the temporary horses I think you are using now.

    Re: Riding quest?

There is another possibility - if one tries to get and use a Bree starter horse while not being VIP. Bree starter horse doesn't require Riding skill to ride, but it requires user to be a VIP.

Thank you, Turbine, for listening and giving us an opt-out of FE! Good work!
