Wanna try and suggest it was easier in SoA?
PvMP rewards should ONLY come from PvMP. If there's an imbalance that exists between a R0 Freep and a R0 Creep THAT is a seperate issue. Don't confuse the two.
im not talking about SoA, try it right now. All skills cost 2k comms, skins cost 7.5k comms and traits cost 1-2k comms. From r0 to r5 u need about 10k comms just for traits and skill EACH rank. Its extremely difficult to acquire pvping. All creeps should start r10 and above with all skills =D than pve in pvp zone will be pointless and not needed.

Granted, this game was never PvP focused, we all know this. PvE always had the priority and has been the main goal of LOTRO. Thats ok, most of the playerbase understand that.
But with Tolkien lore/books/movies describing huge epic open field/city battles, its a shame that PvP dont have more ressources at his disposal to entertain those of us who like this particular aspect of LOTR. I personnaly dont want to switch game, like so many of my brothers/sisters-in-arm, to get better entertainment. I want to stay with my ingame friends and feel that im in Middle-Earth fighting for my faction.
So i would suggest to Turbine to maybe emphase the LOTRO PvP with a dedicated server, accessible by all the other PvE servers 24/7.
- This would get rid of the Lags while PvPing.
- Create a giant map (3-4 times the size of the current Moors) with better objectives/rewards and faction balance.
- Create instanced PvP (recycling existing PvE instances) for people that like 1vs1, 3vs3 ect...
- Thrown in special events from time to time (monthly or seasonal) hosted by Turbine Devs/staff.
- Desable the current Moors for better PvE servers performance.
Im sure this would make a lot of people think twice before switching to another PvP game and that would even help bring back a lot of so many vets we lost over the years, discouraged by the lack of commitment from LOTRO. Offer your old ex-customers a free weekend trial with the new PvP zone, to test it out.
Your PvPiers are not the most demanding people in your game Turbine. You thrown us very few bones over the past 5 years and still, the Moors have stayed alive, even if its fadding slowly but surely. A small investment like a single dedicated PvP server would easily help keeping this portion of your playerbase ingame for the next 5 years...

You're only wasting time if you are not having fun playing. Regardless of whether or not it gets further developed... as long as you enjoy the time you spent playing in the Moors, it is not wasted.
Let's be frank here, it's a game which means it's hardly productive, so the only thing you're getting out of it is fun in exchange for time.
If you're frustrated and angry while playing, then THAT is time wasted.
(Not to say you can't wish for improvements, but if that takes over your enjoyment then, well, you shouldn't be spending time in this game.)
Edit: This isn't aimed at you, Jaiyne I was just responding to the comment/train of thought in general.

I agree with you. But it's because I still have an awesome time playing Lotro that I care and would like it further developed. No other game I have played has ever replaced Lotro for me, and until it's thoroughly dead, I doubt it will. But I definitely feel like they have neglected a large and passionate part of their playerbase - the people who have played PvP here for 4-5 years. It's just bad business to conduct themselves as Turbine has with regard to choosing to not be transparent about their desires for PvP here

Yeah, I understand that completely.
Personally I think it will be getting more attention (hello, creep skins) - especially with creepside being a possible F2P cashpot. Whether or not that will cause good changes is beyond me, and that is catering to the new population, not the old players.
Re: Some suggestions for the Monster players' satisfaction
As I see it, the overall issue with balance is the fact that the devs randomly depart from the intended balancing methodology.
Freeps progressively get more and more powerful due to the PVE storyline and content advancing and getting more difficult. Creeps were intended to get more powerful as they ranked. New skills, more moral, whatever....being able to match up better with freep classes as they rank. Thus the rank name comparison to Moors NPCs; Skirmisher - Tyrant. Unfortunately at this stage the scaling isn't exactly on point. I just recently returned to the game and the fact that all creep skills were demoted to R10 tells us that there SHOULD be some additional skills coming creepside for ranks past 10. With those skills hopefully the viability of the ranking system will return, because at this stage I have no reason to bother ranking anything past 10 (ok yeah battlefield promotions..wheee).
We have this conversation creepside all the time, and it's true. You see a R14 Reaver coming at you, you should be in some kind of trouble if you're alone. I mean this is nearly as good as it's going to get creepside right? Can you solo a Taskmaster in a keep? If so, you should be able to match up with that R14 Reaver.
The only point in my memory where things really started to support this balancing act was pr- moria. Uruks who hit R9 had a full heal and 3k health pots availble. They were very stout and viable vs any freep. I can tell you that I personally quit for about a year because it wasn't very challenging at that stage. Moria hit, LIs hit, Levels advanced...(3k health pots removed), the R9 Uruk was still good, but not ahead of the curve...It all made a bit of sense to me.
With all that said, Freep Ranks should have a slightly greater impact on a freep's viability in the moors as well. Unfortunately sparating church and state (pve / pvp) and the cumulative power increase has always been difficult to manage. There should definately be Freep Rank based skills and items that are only usable in the moors.
It would actually be really interesting to see if Bud could actually win a 1v1 with some new PVP toys based on that very well deserved rank.

I think the problem is that Turbine has never had a clear and communicated vision for PvMP. Then executed against that vision every step of the way.
I agree that the vision should include Creep and Freep power curves for ranks. I agree re: the R14 reaver...as it should be for a R14 Champ, and I know that's just an opinion. So if it didn't work that way then that's fine, as long as Turbine expressly communicated that and then worked to develop and deliver whatever their vision was to us.
At this point I'd take ANY direction over another 5 years of no direction.
