I am truly saddened to see how bad this server, primarily the pvp on this server has gotten over the last few months. The hyprocrisy, QQ, and trolling has just gotten to be too much.
When I first came to this server (from Crickhollow) I thought it was the best server out of all of the others. I thought I was lucky to have randomly picked this wonderful server out of all the other available ones. The people were kind and welcoming, had good humor, respectful of their fellow players, and rarely did things considered offensive or things that could be taken personally. I never saw a single derogatory thread on the forums.
Now, all one has to do is look at glff chat in game. Or look at the Forum threads to see that Ridder has indeed changed, for the worse. This server has degenerated so much from its former glory. All this QQ, hyprocrisy and trolling is ridiculous. I see things (not CoC breaking, or course) that are hurtful all the time now. There is no warm welcome, little respect for others, and not many respectable people left (after the transfers).
I am not sure if I am the only one who feels this way, but Ridder has indeed turned into garbage. I really hope that this is just a "rough patch" that the server's inhabitants are going through.
Crossing my fingers, doing what I can to help, and hoping for a change.
I wish i was around before to experience this utopia. as for what's going on now, feels like a pvp game to me, /shrug
Feels like pvp eh? Was this before or after you ran from two low ranked defilers all the way from Lugz, across GTA, all the way thru HH making sure to grab every npc in HH onto me and Morbidi? And spam bubbled the whole time? Fail sir. Your opinion is poopy You gave all the creeps watching a good laugh though, thanks at least for the chuckles
i don't know when did you come to this server
but for me, the best time i have ever had with the moors is the 2 months pre-RoI
it s just Turbine keep screwing up the PvP more and more after RoI
I wish i was around before to experience this utopia. as for what's going on now, feels like a pvp game to me, /shrug
Lol, it wasn't quite a Utopia. It had its flaws even then, but the flaws were very small. Now, it is very flawed.
What is more sad to me is that it is not only the pvp side that is screwed up now. Even on freepside (where I go to PvE for a break from creepside) it is messed up. Both sides of Ridder has issues.
I agree with you Akara, Turbine is also at fault for this. Turbine made the pvp bad, and in turn the pvp made the rest of Ridder fail.
Go play other PvP games. You will find that what you re complaining about is a human condition. It is not some piece of software. It is not pvp tactics or lack there of in this particular server or even this game. This type of behavior is found through out human culture.
Sorry another human wasnt decent to you on your interaction with them but always keep in your mind the fact that for you to live everyday, something has to die everyday.
GW2. I encourage everyone who has given up on / is unhappy with Turbine's changes to PvP to try it -- I know I am!

I can agree that this server's respect rating has fallen quite a bit. But I log in most every day and when I do, I have fun. Try leaving the forums alone for a bit bro, and you will see how much more pleasurable this game can become. I can agree with Altogo that it is the people that make the community, not the software. I have read a lot of the forums lately and see a lot of trolling, expressed feelings and such, but what counts is that you are paying money to have fun, so make sure you enjoy it. I have been on this server for a year now, and things have changed a lot. But it is going to. It's the natural ebb and flow of things. Find your happy medium and do what you can to make it better. If you want to join a group that has fun every day PvPing, send me a tell and I can hook you up with some TS info for my tribe. You will see how much more fun the moors can be when you surround yourself with positive people.
Blah Blah Blah, I ignored everything because Failbidi is a dirty starhugger.
STARHUGGER.
Also when I started playing there were Adino raids out and now...there are Adino raids out again. I guess playing the kill the Freep before his raid gets here game does get old after awhile but I'm having fun and thats all that matters to me.

What I am recomplaining about? Tell me, when was I "complaining" about this before?
Yes, I know that it is the people not the software that has changed this server. I am not a dummy.
Just because this behaviour is a part of human culture, doesn't mean it is right, nor does it mean you should do it. Justifiying this server wrongs with a "Everyone does it" statement is wrong in and of itself.

+Rep. I think i will keep that in mind as well, about the tribe I mean.

I am not justifying it, just letting you know it is not a Riddlemark problem, that this...

...isnt some isolated issue. You are making it sound like all of Riddlemark is doom and gloom because of the people here.

I have been on 3 different servers now, 1 of which has been around longer than Riddermark. Neither of them (Evernight nor Crickhollow) have shown the tendencies of Riddermark nor have the shown any similarity to Ridder at all. They are just about the same as always, except maybe with a lower population. I have even taken a look on many of the other server forums, and I see nothing akin to what I see on Ridder forums.
I am not saying that all of Riddermark is not doom and gloom. It isn't, yet. There are still bright spots left in this server. Its just not many.

I'd probably run from two defilers, too... I am a noob and your flies make me want to cry. It reminds me of that time I was playing Marco / Polo with Helen Keller
*cuts away to me in a pool with Helen Keller*
me: "Marco..."
HK: "......"
ME: "marco"

*cuts back to the thread*
... oh, and two defiler Fears would make me think of that time I was providing body heat for Lara Flynn Boyle..
*cuts away to me in bed with Lara Flynn Boyle under my belly*

Totally the best post of this thread, GW2 is for the cool kids
Lots of ridders are moving there, I guess we will all have to find a server that we all go on.

Please /delete lol, that game LOOKS really bad.
Really? It "looks" bad? Anything you say is now stupid.

Lol, I am starting to think that all of my forums threads and posts are destined to be derailed in some way, form, or fashion. I must be cursed. xD
I try to post something as absured as possible into threads where people fight. I really want people to scrunch up their face and wonder what drugs I am doing when they read it. Or chuckle. Chuckling is good. But it can't be a laugh. ONLY a chuckle.
Hey, anyone see that show Duck Dynasty? When those guys went after the frogs on the golfcourse at night, I almost wet myself laughing/.
Brief LOTRO history summarization from one nice guy's perspective:
1. About a year and a half ago, Turbine announced there would be 2 new servers when Free To Play was initiated, then later they upped that number to 4 (Crickhollow, Dwarrowdelf, Imladris, and Riddermark).
2. People in the forums started unofficially naming "New Server X" as the [fill in the blank] server and somehow Riddermark by consensus became in many people's minds the hope for a good PvMP server where all the good PvMP players were going to start over on level ground so to speak (since inbound transfers were not going to be allowed for at least a year according to Turbine). Sidenote: I with many others came to see if I would enjoy it knowing I could return to my old server if I did not.
3. After about two weeks, we had many pages on the leaderboards of "expert" but new level 65 creeps having come from established servers sitting outside GV essentially 24/7 on a full red map with all of their creep map-points accumulated but little infamy/skills/traits since back then quests did not give infamy and the store did not sell skills/traits - most of the infamy that had been easily farmed was from level 40ish freeps who just couldn't wait to get to the moors after pve'ing for several straight days on a brand new server. But some of it was people farming themselves or their friends.
4. After several weeks of nonstop GV "fighting" with creeps having far superior numbers (quite expected), enough level 65 endgame freeps who understood the moors started pushing out and taking/holding keeps and the bad personalities started blossoming (creep, freep, and flippers). Mean people and complainer-types tried to force others into their playstyle (they still do) with relentless trolling attempts. Many left early when they grew impatient with the development of the server as if they expected RM moors to be awesome overnight.
5. Various different "camps" of players started fighting in the RM moors and on the forums. A few of us on RM remember what it was like all along the way ... with one constant: a few juvenile nasty people "own" the RM PvMP forum. They derail nearly every thread that doesn't highlight them or their playstyle in some way and destroy any hope of a meaningful conversation with constant misinformation and petty bickering.
Other than the nasty attitude, it is easy to know who is the problem by their high post count and the large quantity of quotes, deliberate misquotes, screenshots and meme's they use in their posts (with maybe 1 or 2 exceptions) - some of them don't even play in RM moors anymore. In-game these people have virtually no effect on the actual gameplay - their presence or absence doesn't impact the moors at all unless you are bothered by what is typed into ooc or glff. The way they actually play is mostly akin to griefing, which is bad in all games and perpetrated by precisely the type of people who keep our RM PvMP forums negative all the time. It got better for a while and then when inbound transfers were allowed, the nasty people talked some of their nasty friends into coming to RM since the moors were very good here at the time. Even as a new server we back then had weeks that matched or exceeded the top established servers from an infamy/renown standpoint even with far fewer players.
Sidenote: I was *sad* when Turbine broke the Warden class, I tried playing it broken for months (it's the only class I want to play) then left for 4 months and came back the day 6.1 was released (2 weeks ago) with many class-changes and bugfixes to see if Warden was fun again. But mean/nasty people do not make me sad, I expect them to be that way, I realize they are acting out the pain in their lives, some of them will grow up eventually and/or decide they don't want to be that kind of person. I try to enjoy the roses while ignoring the pricks from the thorns.
One interesting thing to do is go to surugi.com and look at Riddermark freep/creep counts for the past 70+ weeks, anyone can do this, anyone with half a brain can see the actual statistics and growth of gameplay in the moors on RM. You simply cannot accept as true what the nasty people post here in the forum - it is usually the exact opposite of the truth, at best a half-truth, and doesn't even come close to matching the fun in-game. It's like 2 different worlds.
They used to invade threads that called them out in attempts to get posts/threads either deleted or locked. And that may happen to this one as well, I guess we'll see.
Mean people and complainer-types tried to force others into their playstyle (they still do) with relentless trolling attempts. Many left early when they grew impatient with the development of the server as if they expected RM moors to be awesome overnight.
This was by far the worse part of Riddermark's history. I recall the worst of these people being a certain warden who liked to lead raids. Some of that warden's moments like this were as follows:
*Warden raid leader sees 1v1s happening at a low traffic area while leading a raid*
[OOC] Certain Warden Leading Raid: take it to CM
*The 1v1ers DO NOT move from their location*
[OOC] Certain Warden Leading Raid: i warned you
*And the warden's raid then proceeds to slaughter all of those who were just having fun 1v1ing, in an attempt to force his/her play style upon those who just wanted to play a little differently*
Another horrific example of this intolerant warden would be the time that he/she was leading a raid, and took it up to Candy Mountain (the very place said warden always proclaimed as the 1v1 area), and mercilessly killed all those participating in 1v1s.
I'm really glad that our great Warden Community member Adino brought this point up, as it is a crucial one that desperately needed to be addressed. We've got to stop these people who refuse to let others play their own way, just because it happens to be different than the mean troll warden raid leader's way.
That warden is the best example that can be used to describe the atrocities committed by these unrelenting meanies. That warden just continuously shows disrespect for all other play styles with the way that he plays the game, the way that he speaks to others in a demeaning and rude manner in-game and on the forums, and by his overall attitude of this game.
So what can we do to stop people like this? It's an unfortunate reality that not much can be done to these ignorant and oblivious trolls, but we can start by informing others who might not be able to see past the trolls' disguise; and people who are willing to stand up for what's right, rather than joining the evil and taking the free handouts.
Thank you again Adino for bringing this point up, and I hope with these tips I've given, we can all work for a better Ettenmoors!
Griefing has no place in PvP. Neither does trying to stir up something.
However, both happen.
I don't think that the complainers about PvP actually go out to PvP. Their hearts aren't set on bloodlust, and neither are their playstyles. Likely they're just carebears. Carebears are usually those only used to PvE. Consider them an easy target.
If you want to do ''PvMP'' in LOTRO, expect the harsh realities. Expect people stronger. Expect to be zerged, ganked, trolled, etc. Those harsh realities are part of what makes PvP 'fun' though.
If you can find fun from the blood-racing heat of PvP, then partake in it however you may.
If you don't want the drama just disable your chat channels.
Lol, I don't even care to redownload the whole client to fix the one corrupted file.
