This is probs my second or third post in this thread since I keep coming and going. I mean, I keep leaving for another game that's been released, like how I left when Cataclysm came out for WoW, then I left when SWTOR was released, and then I left when I simply ran out of time for MMOs etcetcetc, but I -always- kept coming back, because no other MMO did the thing for me than LOTR does :P Diablo 3 is released soon and spent a few hours playing Guild Wars 2 beta this weekend (hope they optimize it a bit better for different systems, 'cause my computer's not at all bad, but I'm having the worst fps lag).
In any case, just really wanna give massive thumbs up to the devs of this fantastic game =)
But in some ways the game is undeniably starting to become slightly outdated. I mean the little things like UI appearance, it somehow reminds me of Ultima Online which I played to no end many years ago, but perhaps I've been spoiled by the "flashiness" of the new MMOs like SWTOR :P one another thing is the skill-lag, but I'm not sure if that's always been there, or if it's something caused by a patch or such, 'cause I read a thread with someone else having a similar problem and comments about how it came with an update and will be fixed.
But the bottom line is, this game has the immersion, the feeling of the game being "alive", the -best-, living community and I just have to say, I love the crafting =) I haven't raided in LOTRO yet, perhaps one day, but in any case the game's an unpolished diamond, but somehow I feel if you polished it, it just wouldn't be the same.
Here's le cheers for all by my new RK :] (dunno why IMGcode is off)
I couldn't agree more. Lotro is one of those games I always go back to. I think one of the greatest things about the game is you can spent 1 hour or 8 hours playing and still have a sense of progression. I left to play Rift then to Swtor ( big disappointment) and now I am back to Lotro. Lotro is a game that always feels like home. Thank you Turbine! I do agree that some of the aspects are becoming dated however over all content and game play make up for it. If I could request any improvements it would be attack graphics to be more fluid. What can I say, I'm a sucker for eye candy!

Yeah exactly! Today I spent like 3 hours crafting, took a look at my xp bar and was like sadface for a moment, but then I realized I just went up a gazillion points in craft points
i'm a sucker for eyecandy too, so yeah sometimes I wish the game had better animations and stuff, but LOTRO is LOTRO
heh. I started my rk 3 years ago, and haven't looked back (except for, ya know, 8 other toons)!
Hahaha Ya it's my first RK and i'm having a lot of fun, I really loved the warden too but since I don't have too much time to play now, I wouldn't be able to remember the gambits (it's especially annoying when you're about to fight a tough monster and you have to sort of rehearse before the fight lol)
One thing that would help immensely to reduce the "aging effect" would be to vectorize UI graphics. Right now, if you zoom in or out your UI everything is so blurry... specially skill icons.
