Is A 1st Age Minstrel Book Worth It?
Would it be worth the effort to make a 1st age minstrel book v. a weapon? (as compared to a 2nd age, which has maxed T1 and a moderate T2 legs) It seems all I would be gaining is possibly a slightly better base set of stats and more points to spend on the T2 legs.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

I got one about a month ago, and the tool tip difference is only about 3%, but healing is our primary role so you should probably make a book.

Essentially, yes. The attributes that go onto a book are not the same as those that fit onto a weapon. Thus, it is easier to put favourable heal modifiers onto a book. Obviously, that only pays off if you focus on healing, as opposed to dps ( which implies group working), but, if you don't focus on healing, what are you doing running a minstrel?

I'd like to second what Wachkussen said and add that I am familiar with your Kinship and since it is strongly focused on raiding, you must know this. T1 and T2 legs are easy to come by and you can always replace them with other legs that would be more appropriate for DPS and use it as a secondary book for soloing and other situations where you are not healing.

Re: Is A 1st Age Minstrel Book Worth It?
It mostly depends on if you need more points to spend on legacies. The OHR on books I would assume still only go up 1 point per age since it is this way for RK satchels. While on a weapon, the TDR goes up a little under 10 points. I don't really play my mini much so I can't say what's actually better. If you don't have problems healing then I would suggest a weapon since there is more to gain there. It's also a better option, IMO, if you PvP a lot.

Depends on what you do. I regretted making an FA book with my first symbol, it didn't get more than 3 Pool A's and thus was not worth using over my SA. It is impossible to fail a DPS Wep on the other hand...
In the future I will never make a book again. I made the same damn mistake with Ost Dunhoth.Last edited by PhantomPunkk; May 01 2012 at 02:45 PM.

Re: Is A 1st Age Minstrel Book Worth It?
Minstrels are meant to heal in raids. Whatever you do outside of raiding is irrelevant. When you get a FA Symbol you should go for the LI first that helps your raid group most, after all, they helped you getting the symbol
At least that my opinion and gladly also that of my kinmates. Our Guards also went for the Belt first and did not use their FA symbol on a two-handed sword. Go for whatever you want when you get your 2nd FA Symbol

Re: Is A 1st Age Minstrel Book Worth It?
The difference in healing output between a 75 SA and 75 FA is quite noticeable. If you raid, then I would say its absolutely worth it. If you solo, then it would simply be a nicety that is much more optional. I haven't looked at the weapon output... I would only consider this if I never raided (always stayed DPS no matter what) or if I had more WSOTEK than I knew what to do with (currently not a problem for me). In other words, I'm content with my 75 SA for a weapon.

Re: Is A 1st Age Minstrel Book Worth It?
Yes, its well worth it for raiding. Yes, it sucks to not get the 4th pool A but it still outheals a 2nd age. I just gave up the power legacy which doesn't really hurt me, it just hoses over the LM.

Re: Is A 1st Age Minstrel Book Worth It?
The power reduction i do not even have on my 4 pool second ager. Took healing&motivation, bolster, raise the spirits and inspire fellows there.
I "only" got two first agers so far. Tried both for the book. Both only 3 pool As. The first i just decomposed, the second which had 11% thread reduction i leveled and did not take inspire fellows. It is still worth it but will never the less try as long as i get 4/5 pool A. The healing weapon is not so important for me - and i extremely rarely do damage - never in raids in very rarely solo (and there i do not need a first ager really).
But for people doing moors i would surely use at least my second symbol for a nice weapon.
