Yes the race has been asked for before. But here is a triat they have like other races do. Bear form that gives offensive and defensive bonus for like 15-20 secs and the race can only be a malee class. IE Champs,Capts,Gaurds,Bergs,Ward ens. Im open for for feedback. I have read other threads regarding this, just wanted to put my thaughts in
This is just a game play suggestion not a lore topic lol. But feel free to put your own feedback in
Well mechanics-wise its not too horrible....that's essentially an offensive version of the current four defensive race skills.
However, I gotta wonder whether 20 seconds of bear form every 60 mins is really enough to make the race feel like a Beorning, and not just a Man, since 99% of the time you'll be in Man-form.
Also, a 60 min cooldown is a lot better for "oh cr@p" skills, to use when you need them, than for offensive skills, which you never really need.
The Beornings aren't a race, they're a family. Beorn, the ancestor of them all, was alive in Bilbo's time. If his descendants have the same lifespan as mortal Men (not Dunedain with their trace of Elvish blood), his children (beginning with his son Grimbeorn, now their chief) are heading from middle-age into their twilight years, and their children are raising their own children. Three generations at most. If their lifespans are longer than normal, fewer generations than that. I have not seen any information on how many wives and children Beorn had before he died, but the whole clan can't be more than a hundred or so. That's not a race; that's barely a clan.
Let us stop beating this dead horse^H^H^H^H^Hbear.
I don't see how it could work. From my understanding, there weren't enough Beornings to even fill a village. I bet there are more Rangers than Beornings.
I'm not sure that the lore could "bear" this.
Sorry, bad joke. I was in a pug about 2 months back that was making "bear" jokes and I guess it just carried over, so "bare" with me. Ok, I'll stop.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
Civ II rules after all these years......
Whyd youd switch homonyms? The phrase is "bear with me", as in to bear a burden, not "bare with me" as in to get naked with someone
Golly, I hope not. That's a whole 'nother thread. (And anyway we can't get bare in this game, we can't even strip down to loincloths. We are wearing Quite a Lot of Underwear.)
And those are the bare facts. Ok, I'm sorry, I promise I'll stop now.

From what I undstand the Dunadain are decendants of Numinor imortal humans till they made the Valar mad then they lost there long life span over time. What race would work in then? Ok I Just wanted to see if it was feasble in game terms. Nice one Nymph lol
Well in terms of gameplay, Races are referred more like say species than say modern races. In Tolkien's world, there were only 4 humanoid races listed in Middle Earth that were "good". Elves, Men, Dwarves and Hobbits. the Beorning clan is still of the race of man, so lore wise you couldn't classify them as one. Plus as countless other threads have pointed out, while the idea of even a Beornling class would be cool, it wouldn't make much sense gamewise, as most if not all the class requirements are filled.
P.S, Numenoreans weren't immortal, they were just given an exceptionally longer life span than men still living in Middle Earth at that time. For example, the first king of Numenor, lived around 500 years. Just a little lore tidbit
I stand corrected thanks for the tidbit did some research here is what i found:
Two couples formed between Men and Elves are of great importance for the history of Númenóreans. Lúthien and Beren was the first one. Their son, called Dior Eluchíl, married Nimloth of Doriath and Elwing was born. Idril and Tuor, the second of the two couples between Men and Elves, were parents of Eärendil. Elwing and Eärendil met at the Havens of Sirion and from their union twins were born: Elros and Elrond. To the two half-elves, the Valar gave a choice: to either live as Men or as Elves. While Elrond chose to live among the Firstborn of Ilúvatar, Elros joined the race of Men and he became the first King of Númenor.
