Post Wish LOTRO was more world wide

This isn't really an advice topic but its just what I think. LOTRO is a really cool game but its really only meant for the American players as they get most events and can purchase Turbine points with ease as they can by Turbine Points cards from stores which are only availavble in America. Back in Auckland New Zealand where I live there are no stores to purchase Turbine Points cards from.

Mostly true, but you can also buy a pre-paid visa or mastercard credit card from A Post Office, or the majority of supermarkets, and you can also apply for a debit card on most accounts now, so there is really no need for game cards.

As for americans getting most events, not sure where your going there, but other than american named events, i see none that we cannot attend in game...

I am not a kiwi, but i am an aussie, and last time i was over in NZ visiting, i found it pretty easy to obtain a prepaid debit card.

    Happy lotro'ing

everyone gets exactly the same events. The english version used is not american, all the extra Us are added to words in the european style --- probably as a nod to Tolkien. Just about anyone can buy TP online with one method or another, and the big deal there is more of an age thing --- for younger players outside america it can be difficult to buy things (no credit card, and not easy to find in stores?). I would think adult players in any country could find a way to make their plastic money work.

I think he meant things like PAX and the anniversary video contest --most countries are excluded from it. Bullroarer itself could be considered an event, and european players can't transfer their characters on it ^^.

reason why most contests arent available in other countries is due to the red tape in some countries. Its usually that reason that most contests you see for your favorite games rarely are available outside the US and maybe some of europe.

I am an Aussie and have been enjoying LOTRO for sometime now. I recently discovered that EB Games in Australia sold LOTRO turbine point cards. You should ask the EB Games stores in New Zealand
Other than that, I have never had problems buying Turbine points with Mobile Phone Credit or Credit Card.

That's true of course. However, it doesn't really explain why there were never any sort of events or tie-ins aimed at the EU community back when we had our own server park and Codemasters ran the show. Well, I guess that last part of the sentence might explain it. Still, I have a bit of a grudge with Turbine still for handing all responsibilities for their game over to a third party and ignoring all and any complaints about them while making money off it. This was before WB bought them, so you can't pin it on them either.

I can totally understand them wanting to focus on the US community, it's a pretty big mouthful in itself. It's just sort of a constant pattern with MMO's because they are mostly US-made and US-focused, and it does dull the enthusiasm a bit to see how much more enthusiastic Turbine is about part of their customer base.

Even with servers near you it doesnt stop the red tape for contests. Some countries have strict rules when it comes to winning stuff or even when having an event for a game.
