    Question About The Huntsman

I use IF, so i need to have 5b..
I use as main traits this 4:
    -Deadly Precision
    -Strong Drawn
    -Deep Concentration
    -Swift Recovery

And my question is, what's the best trait to complet the 5b ?
Resolute Aim, or Rapid Recovery ?

And the Second question, what's the 2 other traits that's good to use ?
I use Critical Eye + Heightened Sense.

    So i Run 5b/1r/1y

    Waiting for some tips =)

All depends on what your doing..

resolute aim and rapid recovery is a must for me in moors and prolly good for soloing pve with multiple mobs. When in pve raids ill take the regen traits instead.

5b 2r i would use in most cases and take crit and swb trait.

in moors im mostly 5b 2y and the yellow being heighten and barb hinderance but thats when im solo..
    work in progress...

Really depends. I usually slot resolute aim but that is mostly so I dont need to retrait for solo. Another GREAT one to slot is arrow storm, as that is a massive boost to AOE damage, without any real loss of single target.
I am not a fan of heightened senses unless you are in the moors. Power cost reduction can come from your legacies without quite as much lost DPS (2-5% DPS would be my estimate)
If you are going into an AOE heavy run (like foundry, skraids, RoF) then slot hail of arrows, otherwise slot swift and true.
10% crit mag is quite nice

    Re: Question About The Huntsman

One of the yellow traits that is underestimated is Stealthy Shot. In addition to the -85% 20s Beneath Notice it gives, it acts as a constant -10% to your threat meaning you're in a pseudo-Endurance Stance while running Precision.

+4% DPS from 2r is rather nice but eventually our DPS reaches a point where it becomes gated by the threat output of the tank. This critical point varies from tank to tank; there's some that can't hold aggro in a barrel and others that can take everything and then some (this latter part is a small section of the bell curve).

At that point, the -10% to threat starts to eclipse the 10% critical magnitude as a means of increasing sustained DPS. It only applies if your gear is to a level that your sustained DPS will increase more from not being as gated than from the +critical magnitude or if you can't be sure of the tank's abilities (PuGGing/new tank). Overall I personally like it because even good tanks occasionally become lazy, make mistakes and drop their aggro generation/leeches.

Yea, think it's good to use this 2 yellows (-10% power and -10% agro) sometimes, i like these two traits.
And about the arrow storm to Foundry and other instances, i really like this idea.
    Thanks for the tips guys

Slotting any Trapper of Fail trait is an effective DPS nerf since you are not slotting an additional Huntsman or Bowmaster trait.

It nerfs your theoretical max dps, but in reality -10% threat can be +10% damage.

This. If it's a dps race and any aggro slip ups will cause havoc, Stealthy Shot is a great alternative to a blue or red trait as it allows you to maintain lower threat and boosts IBN if you happen to pull aggro anyways.

In reality -10% threat could be +1528% damage if you get aggro early in a fight and die, being unable to DPS the rest of the fight for instance. That's not the point though. I feel like we shouldn't have to slot for less possible DPS just to not pull aggro from the tank. You're in a good kin, how often to you pull aggro? And, how many of those times do you die because of it?

Idk if I'd call it a great alternative. Really, if you're pulling aggro quite often with a Trapper line trait in there, then your tank is just bad and endurance is probably a better stance to begin with. I realize not all tanks are great, but I hate nerfing myself because someone else can't play their class well.

I agree, I never trait it, only as a suggestion for OP. If a hunter needs to pug for deeds/gear, he also needs to adjust and realize that the people are in the pug for a reason. They aren't in a raiding kin for a reason, this could be due to lack of time to acquire gear, not being a team player, not understanding mechanics or whatever. Trait according to the group you're in and the DPS limit you think you'll have to set on yourself according to the tank.

I quite agree on all counts. To me "aggro management" should take skill, not inhibit it. What I mean is good hunters should have the means to manage threat so they can achieve better dps, not be limited to the same dps as a worse hunter due to threat.

    <rant>
For lightning wing I spend the first half of the fight (800k morale off the boss) only using QS in endurance because I'm so #$@&!#& tired of dying in there/wiping the group. In F&F I don't leave endurance until close to the second set of shadow grims for the same reason. When we've worked on acid T2 I've been 1-shot almost as many times as I've lived through the first minute. In shadow the boss usually takes a few swings at either myself or the other main hunter we've had in there before we get to the first set of adds.

Another issue I have is how difficult is is to measure "threat". Just playing with a tank of any class you get a feel for how much threat they generate, but it's purely qualitative. There isn't any way to know what you can put out for dps until you are dead, at which point you can safely assume that it was too much.

That's definitely the worst part about our DPS capabilities right there. We have no idea how to properly measure our DPS against different tanks. I know on a pretty decent, albeit rough basis how I work with two tanks, as they are the two best tanks on server, but as soon as I have to DPS for a different tank, I'm lost on my rotation since my aggro pulling capabilities significantly climb as they don't employ the highest threat generating rotations or are more likely to have a resist.

When it's a DPS race like Acid or Shadow, it's always frustrating to sit in the back firing QS after QS in endurance stance, then open up and still pull aggro. Then once I'm reallllly taking it easy, the fight gets hairy in the timing of the adds phase or the walls in shadow as we can't DPS to full capacity.

Good points Smugo and Zulu. +reps

I think we all share the same frustration. Champs can parse some big DPS numbers, perhaps even more than hunters, and their ability to pass aggro is such a useful tool. I want a skill like that. Heck they could change Hunters Art into this type of skill. Its not a wretched skill now except for the super annoying skill animation and rotation disrupting time. The skill just doesn't seem to lend itself to a fluid rotation position for me.
