My favorite region would be Eregion. I find it to be the most beautifully built landscape in Lotro, with probably the best quests in the game, as well.
Note: Don't talk about ones you don't like, just your favorite zones. This includes instances, if you feel so inclined.
Bree-land. I love the houses, the town, the festival grounds, the Pony I even the love old forest and the barrows.

I love Evendim because of the huge lake and beautiful landscape. It's a shame, that the Lake Evendim did not appear in the books I like Bree-land too because of the houses and atmosphere.
It's dark and dangerous, the pathing is well done, it has great design and lots of mobs to make my stay worthwhile. I don't really like Foundation of Stone, but that's like saying 'I don't like that tree in the Shire' ... there's plenty others.
Speaking of instances, I love to wander Urugarth and Carn Dûm ... solo. My fave place to practice rotations, pulling mobs, tanking bosses ... oh, and the class items that drop keep my wallet filled with coins, that's if I don't guide some lower lvl fellows through who need to get their class items.
A good place to introduce fellows to fellowship play, a good place to demonstrate healers how hectic a boss fight can get with a group of 6 is the Gruglok fight or Lagmas Court ... don't forget to breathe, there's 5 more waves of adds to come! Or hunters ... watch who you target when, if you don't want to get clobbered by Brizrip or his fellow trolls! Hey champ ... Y U NO BUBBLE? U DEAD? TROLLOLLOLOL
Another region I like a lot is Limlight Gorge, filled with biggies to play with ... big boys like big toys.
You become a champion by fighting one more round.

My number one favorite is the Trollshaws. Just the atmosphere created there with the in game music i find great. Sometime i find myself just wandering about there enjoying the scenery.
Close second is Forochel and after that moria especially the second hall.
Evendim is imho the prettiest area in the game with some of the most impressive architecture (sunken city, that big statue over the river, etc).
It's also a much nicer area to level in now that the quests have been streamlined somewhat and there's a fast boat over THAT lake (used to be able to make a brew in the time it took to swim to the elf-camp in the good old days).
I love Forochel. It's so beautiful and snowy! Reminds me quite a lot of home in the winter. Also, the northern lights!

Moria comes second on my list. I really like it, especially since there are so many places and events I recognise from the books.
And I quite like the Shire as well. Very pretty, and I love the quests as well - all these little tasks that the hobbits can't be bothered to do themselves. I'm having so much fun on my newest alt, just walking around in the Shire and killing wolves.
Easily the Shire.
Love the Hobbits and everything about them.
Love the anarchy of the road system designed by what would pass for a Hobbit engineer.
Love the silly quests.
Love that the most dangerous critters aren't all that dangerous.
Love the pies!

Definitely Ered Luin. The scenery is so diverse, bits of dwarf buildings, elven buildings and even some of men. That coupled with caves such as Sarnur make it incredible to just walk around in and enjoy the scenery.
I'm also voting for Trollshaws. The combination of audio and visuals is just stunning I have taken many screenshots there.
The second place is shared by Mirkwood and Angmar, there is something similar about them both (kind of angst), but Mirkwood falls more to the pretty-surroundings-side while Angmar I like because of its atmospheric nature.
Shire and Breeland always make me want to go back, they are so nice and homely. Somehow I have the feeling that more love and attention has been put in the areas from earlier era in the game...
Evendim has to be one of the best in terms of details and design. The quests were pretty bad when it launched but the revamps really improved them.
Angmar was the last region they did that really made me feel like I was going to war. I remember running to Gath (no easy mode travel and we still had the Fog of War on the map) trying to find the Rangers, it was great!
Instances:
The Rift was the best instance Turbine ever created, period. It was released at the pinnacle of their creative development and was an awesome addition to Carn Dum, Uru and Helegrod. We would run the Rift ALL the time for months and months and it never got boring. The rewards were great and well worth the effort it took to finish the instance. They set the bar very high with the Rift, I've not seen anything come close to it since...
I would have to agree with the folks that mentioned Evendim. It's by far my favorite region in the game. Partly because of the scenery, but mostly because of the way the quests have been setup. The progression is very logical and the clusters allow you to clear all your quests in that area before moving on to the next with minimal amounts of quests that have you running clear across the zone to complete and then back to turn in.
I think and honorable mention should go to Stangard for the quest chain alone, though. I found the story there to probably be the most interesting I have come across so far. Love the political intrigue.
"It is good to have substance to one's existence, but if fate denies one substance, one can yet do a lot with style."
Optical definitely the Shire wins. Both towns and nature looks so amazing and breathtaking there. (Even thou Bree Town is the most amazing spot in the whole game.)
But questwise my favorite area is Lothlorien. It dramaturgically is so perfect. You step out of the dark of Moria after weeks or months that you spend in total darkness and you find yourself in that completely new world. Nothing you have seen before on this character. Than you have to get in contact with a few dwarfs that are exploring the areas around the eastern exit of Moria.
Than you need to get in contact with the woodland realm elves (Galadhrim) and earn their trust (reputation) to be able to proceed to certain areas and quest. The rewards you get from them are so awesome. Caras Galadhon is so gorgeous as well. And lore-wise its so nice as well cause you see and meet a lot of things you know/heard from LOTR. (Galadriel, Meneldor, all 9 fellowship members, the boats and port the fellowship used and some other stuff.
Close followed by Lothlorien for me is Evendim. Exploring the realms of the origin of the Dunedain and the city of kings is awesome. Just on thing said: Warden of Annuminas !!! Lots of swimming thou
Angmar- due to its being dark and even playing during the day, still gives me a creepy-like feeling. Plus I think the mobs are more angry there than anywhere else.
Lothlorien! No place in game makes me feel so good as sitting under the golden trees, watching the scenery and listening to the music in the background.
Great variety of landscapes, snowy, woods, dwarf towns, elven towns, ruins, rivers, waterfalls, bridges, both dwarf and elf homesteads... And not silly clustered like, say, Enedwaith, where you can "feel" the transition between subareas. Maybe is because it's where I started 5 years ago and it made a big impression, but I still drool every time I go there.
My favorite region would be Eregion. I find it to be the most beautifully built landscape in Lotro, with probably the best quests in the game, as well.

Trollshaws was stunningly beautiful the first time I went there. And then Lothlorien.
But my all-time favorite zone is probably Eregion. Why is hard to say; probably fast leveling combined with a feel that the epic story is getting more intense and into more dangerous territory.
I know a lot of people on my kin (esp. Hunters) hated it. But I played a LM after the Vol2 solo-fication, so maybe that’s why I had no problems with it.
In every LOTR game my absolute favorite region/zone is Moria. I just love the Dark/Dangerous/Lonely/Forgotten/Crumbling/Vast/Unknown nature of that place. In fact that’s why I mostly love in RL too.
*However: the Foundation of Stone was definitely not as fun as the other parts, not to mention the Nameless boss at the end was waaaaaayyyy too easy with Insp. Buff … rather sad/anti-climactic end for to the best 10 levels in LOTRO!
My vote goes to Evendim, although as landscape quality and quest design goes I think the Great River comes a close second.
But definitely, the Evendim revamp is one of the best things Turbine has done since F2P. The place has amazingly smooth progression, a brilliant overarching storyline and frankly it's just pretty to be in.
I know it's not really a full region...but I love spending time in Rivendell.
It is so well done...and this might sound stupid...but I can actually park my toon next to a waterfall there & the sounds alone will relax me in real life.
The Elven part of Ered Luin, Eregion, Evendim, Trollshaws, Enedwaith and Lothlórien are all my favourite, both landscape wise and quest wise (well... not so much in Trollshaws' case). The music and scenery create such lovely atmospheres, sometimes giving a sense of urgency, and they're just great to be in overall. I do like bits of Moria though, now that I am no longer playing my hunter in there :P
Has the most varied and awe-inspiring scenery. Water-works is my favourite, whenever I'm there I spend some time just gawping at the amazing structures.
Easily the Shire.
Love the Hobbits and everything about them.
Love the anarchy of the road system designed by what would pass for a Hobbit engineer.

Shire is my favorite. Those Hobbit politics just crack me up. I love the female hobbit that is angry because her "pa" won't let her go out with that minstrel. ROFL LMAO!
And that lady in Micheal Delving ranting about the priviliged few having the best pie fillings. And the adventurer from Frogmorton.
Just the other day I saw this Hobbit by the Brandywine saying that people can drink ale from other inns but they might as well drink from the river.
I love this game.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
Civ II rules after all these years......
I really like the Lonelands at night, the stars seem brighter and it reminds me of West Texas where I used to go camping. Also, I love Forochel for it being so different and the northern lights. Evendim is really pretty and I liked Eregion.

Yes: inadequate lighting, nasty monsters, magnificent architecture. Did you play AC2? The Lugian architecture, I think, was sort of Turbine's practice peace for the Dwarven architecture. Even before we got to Moria: I remember way back in beta when we were still restricted to the Bree-lands, and someone posted on the beta forums a picture of the doors of Thorin's Gate. Wow.......
My favorite Forochel & Evendim. And now Great River.
I like that there are tons of quests, and they are very linear, moving you neatly around the zone without having to guess where you have to go next.
My least favorite zones are Angmar & Trollshaws.
Angmar is depressing, and there are too many landscape quests that require groups. Nowadays, no one really goes there, or wants to do the group quests. Not to mention that you can't take three steps without having to fight something.
Trollshaws is annoying. It takes forever to travel anywhere, and there are several hubs that have a single quest-giver, and these hubs are quite easy to miss.
Still Forochel. It's beautiful, immersive and has great weather effects. When you feel cold, playing in a snow/ice-bound region, you know it's been done right!
Wingwoz (on hunters in LOTRO), "I prefer to think of them more like Elvis or James Dean. Terminally self indulgent but their presence in a party, nay, the very fact that they ever existed, makes the world a cooler place."
'Zairente hums, "Little rabbit Poo-kie / running through the Di-res / scooping up the Mon-archs / and BANGING 'em on the head."' The Antics and Ramblings of Family Nenaelin
Evendim. Even when it was Everswim, but more so since Evendim 2.0.
I'd like to also mention the Waterworks. Has anyone returned there to sight-see once mobs no longer aggro? I highly recommend it. Look up, look around. The architecture and scale is really impressive. Something you may have missed when training aggro off a turtle, 2 salamanders and a glass spider.
