I've been waiting weeks on a fix for the bug that prevents my warden from loading properly. I have 8 toons on Nimrodel server and this is the only one that has this problem. I have other toons on other servers but almost never play them.
I asked a GM how to report it.
I followed the GM's instructions about submitting a report a support.turbine.com.
I very dutifully returned the two computer reports requested.
I got a reply that told me that my sound driver should be disabled. Why? Wouldn't the other 7 toons on Nimrodel also be failing to load if it is a system driver?
I can't remember how to play my warden because I've gone too long without her.
I see from the tech support forum that there are now six pages of posts discussing this just on the thread I joined. If posting there were getting some action, I wouldn't be posting here.
I remain curious. I don't know if I remain hopeful or not.
Bilbema the Bereft, Warden and VIP (Very Ignored Player)
It's a game breaking bug for a lot of people. It only happens to me on BR for some reason so I guess I am lucky, although my Warden still takes much longer to load on the live client than any other character.
Part of me thinks that the complexity of the class and the updates that occured with U6 have somehow caused a huge amount of data to be loaded from the log in servers but I have yet to hear of any updates to the resolution of this problem.
The workaround for most people seems to be to load a different character first as it seems to help expediate the Warden loading process for some reason.
Curiously, the evolution of the internet seems inversely proportional to the evolution of man.

This very well could be the problem though, the effect would be restricted to the char. in question alone, it has something to do with where your char. is trying to load iirc. I'd try it if you haven't.
Did your warden crash to desktop? My captain crashed hard to desktop while he was entering Gondamon. Each time I tried to log him on I CTD. I contacted tech/game support and tried their fix to no avail. I was able to log onto my other toons so I gave my account name and password to a friend who was able to log onto my captain and returned him to his milestone.
If you have a friend you trust, I suggest you give him your account name and password (both of which you can change afterwards) and have this person log onto your warden and move him to his milestone.
Hope this helps,
Jaadzira bint Halla, Keeper of Mysteries
I have had luck with logging in with another character first then trying my warden. If I try to log my warden first I still get the lost connection error about 1/3 of the time. Still getting the item acquired tool tip on log in. I also get significantly more lag on my warden (especially at server lines) than I do on any other toon. Huge pain.
Cmalberg - Elendilmir
-Stickygritz, Gritzwarr, and all those Gritz. Greblam
I have always lost connection, or I have logged in without my kin, or any other players, with 3k health almost every time I try to log my warden in. Therefore, I have not been able to play him for a little over a month.
Other toons (Elendilmir): Lorespark Man LM, Sparkness Dwarf RK, Bowspark Man Hunter, and Leadspark Man Captain.
Looks like you stopped at step 1 of the tech support script for dealing with this. After you disable the sound card, they have you do a clean install, update any drivers, etc. All of this is really just getting at the symptoms. The freeze/crash problem is really just an effect of how long it takes for post-update-6 wardens to load. IF your client has any other sources of delay, it will end up timing out. So, they address these other sources of delay and you will find you can eventually get in (barely) and you can turn sound back on too, by the way.
Unfortunately, then you discover that other things in the load script are getting fouled up by the long load time. So, while I can now get in on my warden even when she's the first character I open, I find myself in an odd state where I am sort of not in my kin anymore. In particular, I can't see the kin social panel nor get into kin chat, etc.
That was the point where I gave up on tech support. It's easier to just remember to open another character first than to keep searching for the end of this tech support script.

Actually, that was step three and the steps come with multiple days between their arrival in my mailbox. That's not acceptable support turnaround time, especially since I don't know if one of their steps will end up sabotaging all my working toons. I'm too afraid to be left in LOTRO limbo for who knows how long if the support script progresses that slowly.
And, since the problem is apparently made worse by loading her in high demand locations like Galtrev or Moria rather than in remote locations or by attempting to load her during peak playing hours, I'm thinking that the problem looks like Turbine's rather than mine. My system stays the same, it's their servers that can't cope, correct? I think that the client is failing because it quits hearing from Turbine's servers. I'm also fearful that the warden's coding has become so complex that these issues are only going to get worse as the game tries to be more complex and pack in more things.
Right now, my thinking is that I can almost create a new warden that starts with the post update six changes from square one and get it to level 50 faster than I can see Turbine solving this. But I don't want to abandon Bilbema.
I'm gonna quit here because I'm starting to sound too crabby. I don't like that in myself. And I got a present and got Bilbema to load. (It's a weekday morning in the USA and she was in Esteldin. See above. ) I should play with the sweet thing while I can.
Let me join in: same problem, no difference with the last update.
I've done various tests, but frankly, just by seeing that the problem poses itself both on W7 *AND* on linux using wine really makes me think that it doesn't come from my "system configuration". Good idea about the friend, I can ask him to log on his computer as soon as I visit him.
On linux I'm able to load more often than on windows: on windows it always locks up/times out, while on linux I'm often (50%) able to get in, but at times the ground texture is completely missing. Log out and log in (same char) usually solves the issue.
BTW it's definitely a resource loading problem, if I have a character in the same area and I load it just before the Warden, the Warden loads fine (and very very fast). It seems also related to the "you have a new item" bug: when the warden loads fine (= after the other char) I don't get the tooltip message. If I load the warden first, I'll get the tooltip (if I ever manage to log in).
What is really depressing is that the problem is known and reported since february and still Turbine seems to prioritize apparel dummies.....
Same problem for me.
If I log a different char before Warden it usually works fine.
If I try to log Warden first normally I get the disconnect problem. Other times I had the 3k morale and no kin and other times the tooltip for gear.
Mordecai CHM - Morken GRD - Gilthen MIN (and many others)
Failed to log in THREE times so far today on my Warden, seems it's not been fixed and each time it's 5+ minutes staring at a non-moving screen. We're being treated like mushrooms.
Opened a support ticket 4 days ago, guess what, zero response.
This is really getting me to the point of not wanting to play any of my characters. Even switching from session play back to normal, and I end up getting disconnected. I was watching the system monitor while things load (or try to), and find it interesting that LotRO nearly maxes out one core on a dual core machine (still only 60% CPU use), and comes close to maxing out 3G of memory. Normal use is 60% CPU (around 30-50% per core), and 1.6-1.85 G memory, so something is clearly going on here. This is on my lap top, and haven't paid as close attention to this on my desk top. Right now I'm thinking that even if the Warden class has to be dropped back to closer to where it was before U7, it would be better than what we have for problems now. A slower step up to where we are now, to see where problems start to show may not hurt. With RoR just around the corner, these issues may get worse with more info to load over any type of connection.
Wow, and this entire time I thought it was because I had too many active quests.
My wife will be sorely disappointed it's not because of my uncountable amounts of cosmetics.
Woot! My wardrobe is safe. Anyhow, I originally thought it was because my compy was getting bogged down with stuff, and ready for a fresh wipe/install. I'm happy to hear that it's not a problem on my end.
Purposely using proper grammar and punctuation since 1998!
Got this problem as well, I can log in on my warden and have about 2 mins of gameplay before I lose connection, well that is if I get pasted the loading screen at all before the connection times out.
Really hope that they fix this some time soon I miss my warden

The thread in tech support on this issue never got an official response back. Some people did discover that this bug seems to be linked to the tooltip for new items in your inventory which was also new in the update that introduce this loading bug. Resetting tooltips or even disabling them seems to have solved the problem for some people. In my experience this wasn't a complete solution but it did speed up loading times enough that I now rarely fail to get in altogether. Also, it seems like this problem is getting more widespread (at least from the variety of classes reporting a similar-sounding issue in beta testing), so it may get more attention now (or after RoR launches).
I still get the tooltip new item in your inventory message even when I uncheck the box, and my warden takes about 1 minute and 40 seconds to load compared to 20 seconds for my other characters. All this started with U6. Luckily I haven't crashed but when you are disconnected in a battle 1 minute and 40 seconds can be a very long time. This is the first I have heard of disabling tool tips so I will try that now. Thanks for the tip.
I have the same issue with my warden as well. I thought it was my internet connection but I was told by another kin member its happening to alot of ppl. I am able to log into my warden for now but I get the you have received an item message and it might have happened to another class of mine as well but I am not positive about that.
Happened to me one time only, but had to log in to a completely different server to be able to log in anything after it failed with warden. Login time with warden is always longer than any other chars I have, even the higher lvl ones.
Best I can think of to do by ourselves is a clean reinstall and driver update. Not sure what the support can do with the char.
Other than that, submit bug reports that are as clear as possible. If there is no fix for an issue like this then they probably just don't know what's causing it. Any info helps.
