    is my old account gone?

Greetings i used to play lotro years again, using the at the time codemasters version. Hoping to try it again i installed my old dvd, thinking it would save at least a little amount of download time. When i tried running it, it just directed me to this site.
I'm downloading the new version from scratch now, but am unsure if my old account even exists anymore?
Does anyone know of links or anything describing what happened between codemasters and turbine, thanks for reading.

Are you sure your acct is gone? Did they change something recently? I haven't checked the FAQ, but back when I wanted to return to the game, I was able to transfer my COG account to Turbine IIRC... I think this was either done by applying for it by email or through a webform.
I have taken some looong breaks from playing, and STILL am using the very same account I created the day LOTRO went live.
I dont know whether there was a limited time-window to transfer accounts from COG to Turbine, and I dont remember when exactly I started that transfer, but maybe there still is hope for your account?
    I sure hope there is!
    Good luck!

The migration from Codemasters to Turbine was only open for a time last year and is now closed. Unfortunately, if accounts were not migrated before it closed, they are effectively gone now.

Re: is my old account gone?

The migration ended some time last autumn. ex-Codemasters accounts that weren't migrated before that deadline are lost. The character information is still there as far as anybody knows, but Turbine cannot access it in any way to link it to a non-migrated account. The reason for the way the migration was handled is European data protection laws which seem to be somewhat stricter than their NA counterparts (which, all in all, I don't mind in the least).

Cravon must have re-started playing at some time during the migration window of time, that's why the transfer was possible. You missed that window by several months, balosi, and I'm afraid there isn't anything to be done for your old account and the characters you used to play.

    My condolences.
