probably a very stupid question but i am a returning player from over 2 years ago. I have purchased the VIP subscription and logged into my old account and world (snowbourn) and i couldnt find my old character. He was a high level warden (ready to go into lothlorien) and i am pretty sure his name was Mortlock. Any advice or help in finding this toon would be appreciated.
You could try typing your logon name into your advanced search box. Since you use the same logon name for the forums and game you should be able to get a screen from MyLOTRO that lists all your characters and the server they are located on.
That said, MyLOTRO has been known to be a little flaky sometimes so there is a chance it does not have anything listed for you, but it is worth a try.
Edit: I just tried a search using your forum name and got no results. You could try your character name(s).

im guessing your one of "those" people who created trial accounts with turbine then purchased an EU codemasters copy of lotro and subscribed with codemasters with the exact same account details as you used for your turbine trial, which explains why your (turbine trial) account still works and you can logon to snowbourn
if you previously played on snowbourn 2 years ago did you migrate your old codemasters account by november 2011 to the new global service?
if you did not migrate your account then you will no longer be able to access your old codemasters toons on snowbourn
if you migrated your codemasters account to the new global service you need to logon to lotro using the account you created during the migration

wow thanks for the speedy reply, nah not found anything on the search . The character was a high level warden (around 48 i think) and he was on the snowbourn server (i was a member of the axe wielders. I am pretty certain his name was mortlock.
Hmm, as i recall i did have a purchased copy of the game... so your saying my character may possibly no longer exist......
is there a way of finding out if we played on the codemasters servers?
I am pretty sure i didnt migrate it across myself, so i guess my only chance was if my original account was on turbine?

your characters will still exists but if you previously played on the codemasters servers and did not migrate your account then there is nolonger any way to gain access to them

if you played on snowbourn 2 years ago as in your orriginal post then you played on the codemasters servers.. snowbourn was one of the former EU servers
if you purchased boxed copys of SoA or MoM then the boxes will also contain codemasters logos if purchased in the EU

unfortunatly yes this is your only chance. check your account at myaccount.turbine.com especialy if you previously purchased a copy of SoA\MoM these both should show on your account. if you played prior to f2p or subscribed/purchased after f2p your account will also show as premium
your best option is to makesure your logging onto the forums with the account you last used to play lotro then check the characters tab, if thats empty your ony other option is to manualy search each and every server for your characters. although you could safely skip the former EU servers

Ok, thanks a lot for all your help guys. I have a horrible feeling i am going to have to start again, any advice on a good server... and also i have a premium account so why is it trying to charge me extra to play as a warden???
Yeah, i have just created new character on Snowbourn server and added mortlock as a friend, he is indeed a lvl 50 Warden so i had the server correct it seems that he was on another account though.
You need to contact Turbine if you want to attempt to recover your old character. We can't hold out a lot of hope for you; there was about a 6-month window when you could transfer your Codemasters account to Turbine, but that time has passed.
It is asking for you to pay for the Warden class again because the Turbine account you are using is not the same as your old Codemasters account. It does not have credit for your purchases in the past.
Contact Account Services, via email or by phone tomorrow during US business hours.

There is indeed no hope. The migration ship sailed into the Uttermost West long ago.
I will start the grieving process now . Can anyone recommend a busy Eu server or is it best to go on a US server. I will be looking to join an active kinship in game as well if anyone has any recommendations. Also being as i have lost MoM in this migration thing if i am a VIP player and purchase the latest RoI expansion will that give me everything in the game in terms of quests and areas etc...
IIRC, one includes Path of the Fellowship (Trollshallows, Eregion, Moria and Lothlorien) and Mirkwood, but I can't really confirm since the store is currently down.
