So I get 2 more char slots with Moria box. Which classes should I use them on? I don't have any heavy-armor-wearing guys right now, so it's pretty much narrowed down to Captain, Guardian, and Champion. I already leveled a champ to 26 and hated it, passionately, and the guardian seems way too simple. But I also like the idea of heavy shields. I need some opinions, quick!
Well, since you've got the Moria box you also have access to the 2 new classes, Warden and RK. If tanking interests you but the guardian seems too boring I'd suggest trying the new Warden you can now play. He uses medium armor and shields, not heavy, but he is a lot more complex than the Guardians.
Fortunately I love champs, but not everybody does. The good news about the other two heavy classes is that they're both very much wanted at end-game, though the captain is a late-bloomer, but it's a fun class and can do all kinds of neat things.
Burgs are fairly complex if played well, and they can be a blast, too - a medium armour class, though, and another one that doesn't really start to come into its own until later (though even in the teens, burg critical hits have incredible burst DPS, mobs just die). But if you've got some time, you could at least try out the classes you don't already have up to 20 or so and see how you like them.
The warden certainly has some crash bang wallop appeal but is not heavy armour granted, that said you can cosmetically equip heavy armour if you like the look.
Guardian may "look" simple, and in some respects is, but learning to grab and hold aggro, turn a mob away from the group or otherwise position yourself and said mob is actually an art.
Captain is a whole different animal and although it has a heavy armour look it doesn't especially have a heavy feel. It feels a bit more utility in function but that said of the 3 classes I've mentioned it is my favourite (atm)
My main is a guardian, and has been and always will be my favorite class. The majority players prefer the dps-heavy champ over slower killing guardians, but playing a guardian seems to be an acquired taste. It's hard to do much damage, especially if you prefer grouping and go for vitality over might in your build, but guardian's still have incredible survivability compared to other classes. Once you get used to the class, you can take on pretty ridiculous amount of enemies and stay on top. Here's a vid as proof, a guardian pulling the entire mess hall in FG and beating em down. At level-cap, my Guardian's managed to pull the majority of the first floor of FG, about 50% more than what is shown here.
I love the Guard, like the Cappy, don't really care for the Champ.
If you're gonna roll a heavy-armor class, make it be the Guard. At times they can be slow to lvl, but I'm never gonna dislike the way I can take on 4-5 on-lvl signatures without having to worry about pots.
You wanna roll something fun? Try the RK. Got mine to 36, as long as you keep its armor up to date, you'll rip through content like nobody's friggin' buisness.
I was the healer AND DPS in a 3 man skirm today.

The Captain seems to really be a jack of all trades, which is neat. Many of you mentioned a Warden, but I guess you didn't look at my sig, because that's my "main" right now, though really all my chars are mains, I play them equally. With the exception of the LM however, because I just found him too... complex? I mean, I'm knocking off Slater deeds, left and right with my Hunter, and I never run from a fight. Heck, I can knock off on- or above-level sigs before they even touch me. The only time I have a little trouble is when I go up against multiple ranged enemies. Whereas with the LM, if your dopey bear draws aggro on 3 boars at once, and doesn't even get a flank before he dies 2 seconds later, you're in serious trouble. I like the tactical-ness of the LM, but it really doesn't work out that well if you don't have a decent fellowship. Soloing an LM just is way too slow, I died on the class quest twice... Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I just don't like the playstyle of the LM. Playing the Warden and the Hunter is pure joy, the LM just got tedious... Thanks for all the info and opinions, can I ask one more question? How fast does a Cappy level?
As said above Guardians are an acquired taste and take a lot of work but being so tough is great fun when raiding random mob camps.
I find myself challenging my survivability by challenging as many mobs as possible.
That and they are almost impossible to kill in PVP.
Recommend you try them all. You can always delete.
I never thought I'd like Minstrel, but it grew on me pretty quickly.
Burglar took a while, but is my current favourite. Powerful in groups, and fun to solo. It's a class where you can stage most fights on your own terms.
Hunter was my main for years, but I am more or less bored of it. I'm currently slowly trying a Rune Keeper. So far....meh. We'll see.
Both healer and tank roles can be stressful in that it's more or less the two roles in any fellowship or raid that mean a possible wipe if you die. Your Warden is probably not high enough level to have had that pressure yet.

Champion certainly isn't for everyone. I remember back in the SoA days when I was running Aughaire quests for the first time, me and my kinnies roaming the wastes of Angmar. And how they about had heart attacks every time I hurled myself into a pack of mobs.
I'm curious though, anything particular that you didn't like?

Cappy's level really slow. Their dps is subpar at best and they don't have any fast travel skills like the Hunter and Warden. They are much better in a group to level if you can. They do get much, much faster at level 56 when you get your Archer herald as that herald actually does some decent dps. Most fun I've had running a skirmish is a solo skirmish using my herald archer and my soldier archer. It's almost like having a small fellowship in a solo skirmish. Up to that point it is kind of tedious to be honest. That said, they are great fun in groups and very much wanted by almost any group.
