I'm a rank 10 hunter on Crickhollow, trying to find a good server to transfer to. Crick's pvp has become terrible, the people all have egos, no one wants to group, and the general gameplay is one side zerging 4 people.
Any suggestions for somewhere to go? I would really like to be somewhere that has decent small group/solo play, but also large raids nights and weekends, at the busier times. Thanks all!
The Windfola server is a small population.. but great for soloing , and finding raids,, ect.... the pvp . seems to be pretty good too , altho I myself do not pvp.........
Yes Crickhollow is horrible for both sides. I would suggest E or Brandy. Problem Im seeing is with this game, the more I play it the more I see myself bolting to GW2. But thats off topic. Zergs appear to be on all servers but atleast with E and Brandy you would be able to solo decently due to populations. Raids seem to happen as well.
Yeah, GW2 is the only reason I haven't transferred already, since that's coming out so soon.
Only reason I've shied away from Brandy is because I've heard that its got massive raids all the time, which is fun, but I find small group stuff fun as well.
I'll have to check it out, I have yet to find a server that seems to be in the middle ground
I'd suggest Elendilmir or BW like other people have said. I know E has a lot of raiding, but the population is quite even and I've heard a lot of good thing about the PvPing population there.
A lot of Dwarrowdelfians have actually transferred to E to suit their PvP needs and have been loving it.
i personally will highly recommend E as it has its share of raids and small groups. not too many solos around but there are small groups and raids.
i highly DONT recommend Windfola. some of the people there have big Egos (especially some of the pvp community) and are really harsh to anyone not "pro" or part of their "elite kin" and stop on newbies. mostly its a Point driven system. a lot of the good people have Xferd out as "Windfola refugees" to E. this is in respect to those of the Windfola pvp community who dont obsess over ren/comms.
everyone is "chill" on E and the vets help the newbies (ask anyone on E about their early experiences in pvp) everyone is friendly and most everyone will group with you, whatever class you are, and help you out if you are new. on E its all about how much fun you have, not about points or comms.
Brandy is good if you like raids, but prepare to be zerged A LOT if you try to solo. Warg packs run pretty much 24/7 and the greenies travel in hoardes, so soloing on a hunter may be a challenge. But you will see incredible amounts of renown if you choose to raid/group, and the community is pretty good on both sides. Action is pretty good at all times of the day, but again it usually ends up as Raid v. Raid, although there are frequent 1v1 circles and there are many freeps/creeps who are looking for solo fights as well.
I've enjoyed my time on brandywine since i've transferred, i can find action at almost all points on the map. Solo, group or raid i always enjoy myself.
Community was very welcoming, i got numerous tells the first time i logged in welcoming me to the server.

I would have recommended Landroval, but not so good lately...though we have a very healthy population.
I have a good time on my creep on E and I don't ever group, and still get some fights here and there. The freeps seem to mostly raid from what I observe though.

Ignore Lendas and Ryucrat, Windfola is actually not all that bad for PvMP. :-P Most PvMP is small-group-based on Windfola, with soloists roaming the map and ganking at questing locations. At high peak times there can be raid versus raid going on, too, but you won't find the sheer numbers of some other servers. Windfola isn't a small server, but it isn't a large one, either.

and it isnt a good one ether. last i recalled, many decent hearted pvpers moved out of windy (mostly to E, some on ark, others went to landy) to escape the eliteism, warg packs ( biggest of all servers guaranteed) and long periods of no-action-whatsoever.
when i moved to E there was a stark change. people helped one another. there is always action somewhere. there was no leader who gave a darn how many points he got that day. still in love with it.
E is the place to be for a hunter. there will always be someone willing to help ya out.
windfola... all they want is fodder and points.
(again no offense to those true-hearted windfolans who keep "old school" ftw)

Windfola is not particularly great, however your reasoning is incorrect.

Simply put, If you want survivability roll another class. The hunter is never going to be designed to survive except perhaps in terms of threat management. They are a DPS class, and they can in fact, DPS.
However, if you are insistant, the hunter b****ing forums can be located via the "Classes" panel at the top of the website. There you will find plenty of people who also think that a DPS class should do and be more than a DPS class.

It's been interesting observing the total bashing of the server from the transfers. It's doesn't have particularly good php, and does suck, that's no lie. But there is a bit of un-justification towards the bashing of it.
I should know, I transferred my old mains off-server years earlier.
@OP I recommend Higher pop servers. Ie, BW/Elend, the latter I will likely see you soon on
There have been a lot of transfers both Freep and Creep side to Brandy lately. Before transferring to any server for $$$ you may want to roll a toon, level to 10 and try out a freever on your target server. It will give you a chance to see the OOC chat and experience some of the action for yourself.
On Brandy in my experience we normally knockout the PvE early solo or in small groups and dedicate the night hours to group fights. After that we'll keep limited to two fellowships until an opposing raid is formed. Once a raid is formed we will expand to three fellows or full 24 depending on who is leading and who is available. For example last night we were being farmed at Grams until we formed a tribe fellow. That eventually turned into 12-man and finally a RvR. We ran through all keeps a few times with some heavy opposition and finally got the upper hand. We turned the map red but left TR after running thru and defeating the CG. Those who solo or 1v1 are known by reputation and for the most part left alone- although it takes some time to build up your rep and depends on what they are doing when you encounter them.
Just remember that the community that is there now may not be there in a month or two once GW2 gets rolling. Yes- I know that the same was said about Rift, SW and the other new games as well. Some folks leave and never come back, others leave and return later.
For server comparisons you may want to look at the link below and check out the server charts:

Rift, SW and other games are not GW2.
I know a lot of the BW community are planning on moving to GW2. Others are saying "you'll be back in a few days saying it sucks". I think they'll be in for a shock.

Speaking for the larger servers... I think it might slow down for a month or so but really the only largest effect will be the loss of leaders who go to GW2 on a permanent basis. The PvMP population has proven itself quite resilient and there's always an influx of more players on both sides. The population will rebuild... new leaders will emerge... and PvMP will still go on.. GW2 or not.
That said... for the smaller servers it could be devastating.

That may happen, but unlikely. Creep side anyhow. Honestly, once GW2 is out, who would want to be on the vastly underpowered, neglected side, whereas they could play GW2 for balanced PvP. Of course, there will be a lot of freeps that remain, the ones that like to farm, and with even less oppositons.
The smaller servers will be completely be disolved. Honestly. I have lost count on how many creep and freep transfers have come to BW due to most of the low population being even lower due to SW:TOR.

I've fought on creepside for 5 years, and i'm not stopping yet If creepside were ever truly balanced or superior to freeps... that on the other hand would make me and a lot of my tribe probably look elsewhere. Our most fun comes from beating the odds, not simply overrunning the enemy and facerolling them. As i've stated before, I think that the creeps being ~10% weaker than freeps should be the goal.
And overall.... Creeps vs Freeps isn't THAT bad right now. It's been worse IMO. In this book, high end freeps will withstand about everything you can throw at them, but in MoM, any Dick and Jane hunter would blow a creep to shreds.
At this point, all we need are tweaks, not an overhaul.

Yea, Dwarrowdelf has seen a massive hit to the population due to a raiding kin disbanding and a good portion of creeps flipping to E to PvP on a more regular basis. With GW2 coming, our population will drop further, but hopefully will return to something better eventually.
