How useful is warding knowledge? I ask because I am contemplating having 4 Ancient Master Traits equipped, which would enable the warding knowledge to work on all genera (so I am taking this to mean on all mobs). Is it worth it? as opposed to using the trait slot for something else.
I usually don't use Warding Knowledge when running around solo, the 10% increase in damage is nice but for landscape the time to lay down the circle takes longer than actually killing the thing.
When used in raids though (where quite often you'll be traited 5 yellow anyway) it's really handy.
There is no reason to go deep in AM line if you're not aiming for the capstone. The 4-yellow trait bonus is just a small addition but not the reason to trait 4 yellows. Where you will need it is bossfights only and you .ill also need the capstone for those anyway.
I used to use WK alot back in the day - farming Lib/Sch and Lt and such. But I don't use it as much anymore. Too many raid leads ask for my dps and SI that I stay 4r/3b most of the time. That's why I actually love running the old school stuff with my kin. I miss AM capstone play ~single tear, violins playing, etc~
I always use warding knowledge when farming groups of npcs, like the moors DoF. I also use it for soloing Limlight dailies because it works on the trees and the spiders. Just put it down over your tar. You can definitely notice how much harder you hit, I often hit around 1.6k non crits with embers on fully debuffed mobs.
Warding Knowledge is very useful in raids and tough fellowship content.....especially in groups that include a lot of dps RKs, LMs and/or Minis.....and since most of us do trait full AM while going for tough raid content, its a great addition....
I have always used Warding Lore whenever possible....even in its non specialized form (without traiting 4 deep into AM).....the +10% tactical damage is a huge boost to dps....it has come in VERY handy in ToO in all boss fights.....with Ancient Craft + Tar + Warding Circle + Benediction of the Raven, the boost to the damage done by us and Fire RKs is exceptional.....
Warding Lore is a must, easily laid down under any circumstance with some forward planning and makes the difference. Those miss chances do add up, a bit, and the extra tactical damage makes a huge difference.
TBH I rarely trait AM with the intention of extra races, would only do that if specifically asked by a raid leader, most of whom in my experience are not au fait with such esoterica.

What Silver said. Assuming all are off CD, I use before those is ISoP:Command, Knowledge of LM, and SoP:See all Ends. Only the better raid leaders and us know why the fight will go so smooth, but such is life.
I wouldn't cry to hard though if the range for AC was extended a bit. Seems out of proportion when compared to Lighting Storm.
