Spring Racing Carnival - Qualifier Races on Fri and Sat at 8pm EST [Landroval]
The Spring Racing Carnival is just around the corner, in the first week of May. The crown of the SRC is the Bree Cup, a horse race with a grand prize of 100 gold! To compete in the Bree Cup, you need to finish top three in a qualifier race. Two such races have been scheduled for this week!
Both races have a 1 gold entry fee. (Watch the Windy Acres Ranch web site for sponsorship opportunities!)
The prizes are 25 gold for 1st place, 10 gold for 2nd place, and 5 gold for 3rd place.
Moonstone Cup, Gondamon - Friday, April 20, 8pm EST
To sign up, send an in-game mail to Tinki on Landroval with your name, your horse's name and breed, and the name of the race (Moonstone Cup). No more than 16 riders will be accepted, so sign up now! Riders can also register at the pre-race party which begins one hour before post time.
Beryl Cup, Dulliond - Saturday, April 21, 8pm EST
To sign up, send an in-game mail to Floradine on Landroval with your name, your horse's name and breed, and the name of the race (Beryl Cup). No more than 16 riders will be accepted, so sign up now! Riders can also register at the pre-race party which begins one hour before post time.
Riders who have already qualified for the Bree Cup may not participate in these two races.
The standard Windy Acres Ranch horse racing rules apply:
* Riders must register to participate in the race. Registration closes 15 minutes before the event begins.
* Registrations are accepted at the race host’s discretion. Players who have been barred from races for unsportsmanlike behavior may not register.
* Riders must be at the start location at least 5 minutes before the race begins. Participants who pre-registered must check in at least 10 minutes before race time.
* Riders must join a raid fellowship with the judges and remain in it until the race results are announced.
* Only standard speed horses and ponies will be allowed. (162% but NOT 168%)
* No mount speed enhancers will be permitted. All buffs (even those not related to speed) must be cancelled before the race begins.
* Riders must only use their horse for transportation. Stables, milestones, wayfaring, camps, rally points, acorns, mustering horns, summons and all other non-mount forms of travel are forbidden.
* Spamming fellow riders, giving a false start signal, having allies ride in the wrong direction to mislead riders, and all other forms of unsportsmanlike behavior will result in disqualification.
* Riders must clear all checkpoints in the proper direction and order. Course judges are the final authority in determining if a checkpoint has been properly cleared. A decision can be appealed if screenshots or video can be presented immediately after the race.
* If a rider falls from his horse, he may mount up again and continue the race. He will not be disqualified for swimming if he is dismounted at a water crossing. (Be careful to re-mount on the same horse.)
* The winner will be determined by the first rider to cross the finish line, not the first mount.
Re: Spring Racing Carnival - Qualifier Races on Fri and Sat at 8pm EST [Landroval]
Four riders braved the cold Gondamon night to participate in the Moonstone Cup, a qualifier race for the Spring Racing Carnival. The route was longer than last year's and included a dangerous cliff drop at the south tower of Ringdale. The Dourhands were none to happy but the riders galloped past before the wretched dwarves could respond to their trespass. First across the finish line by three lengths was Kiralynn riding blue roan Turion. In an incredible racing debut, Valtharon crossed the line in second place riding Mathom Society steed Silverstone. Talented rider Loviisa finished a solid third on her tundra horse Helleena. Look for Loviisa to be among the winners at the Bree Cup.
Special thanks to Tinki for acting as Race Master, Floradine for judging and providing music, and Byrcha and Sigvalr for serving as checkpoint judges!
The next qualifier race is the Beryl Cup, taking place in Duillond at 8pm EST on Saturday!
Re: Spring Racing Carnival - Qualifier Races on Fri and Sat at 8pm EST [Landroval]
Seven riders made their way to Duillond to participate in the Beryl Cup, the fourth qualifier race for the Spring Racing Carnival. The beautiful spring weather and bright sunlight gave the race a festive atmosphere. Besting his previous win at the Haunted Horse Race of 2011, Andeon crossed the finish line well ahead of the other riders. Black horse Ichabod was replaced by Annudir, a pale golden summer steed with great stamina. Newcomer Winterblues made her debut on Malledhrim horse Riverwind and finished in second place. Joining them on the list of riders qualified for the Bree Cup, Celthlas and Autumnfest horse Morngond galloped across the line in third place. Twelve riders are now in competition for the grand prize of 100 gold.
Only three qualifier races remain. The next qualifier race is the Mathom Cup in Michel Delving, scheduled for Friday, May 4th at 4pm EST.
Special thanks to Floradine for acting as Race Master, Carica and Ahtook for acting as checkpoint judges. Horse races wouldn’t be possible without the hard work of our volunteers.
