Discussion: Get us a REAL Champion steed before the current hack goes into the store

Seriously. No inspiration, no theme, no flair about this piece of nonsense. This steed does not in any way reflect the qualities of the awesome class. I´m only going to mention the DAGGER?!?! as a design element, and leave the rest to the viewers discretion:

Its not too late yet, noone has paid money for it yet (and if it stays that way, noone will...). I thought the other class mounts were quite nicely done in that they picked up a specific theme of their class and ran with it. THIS so called steed of champion is neither

• martially spikey
• bling-bling narcissistic
• scruffy and rough
• bloodsoaked and war-torn
• ludicrously overdone

All common champion themes. The Champion horse would be the one mount that allowed your designers to go over the top and run with it, because we LIKE it that way. Hell, we got a skill called "Boast" for a reason! There is still time before store introduction

Oh Pony, always so touchy when it comes to your precious champion class.
But I do understand the point you are making.

Yeah, I expected a large weapon-rack of some sort, or a quiver full of different kind of weapons on both sides of the horse with a torn flag sticking out at the back. This current one is laughable for champions or when we compare it to the other previous class-horses.

I almost never respond to posts like this, but I am too dissapointed with the steed design. I will keep my money in this case.

Personally, I'm fairly satisfied with the weaponry (though adding an axe or such wouldn't hurt). What I find severly lacking is the class symbol. Not just two swords, but the distinctive symbol of two crossed swords on a blue background. These class symbols is in my mind what really sets these mounts apart from regular rep mounts in game.

I won the steed in the Lottery and when i pulled it out to brag it to the people in my server i was like, meh i have to get my fireworks steed ASAP!!!

Not to hurt any feelings but I found it ugly. like really randomly placed packs and bags, couple of swords and a dagger? and such great choice of colors. (sarcasm) I'd proudly ride a mathom steed than this one.

Now that that's out of the way, I agree, though I kinda like the rich crimson color of the blanket-thingy on it.

Almost perfect. Just needs a Cuisinart mounted on the saddlebow.

I laughed when I saw the Cwood version of the steed. That's awesome.

Anyway, I agree. The champ steed looks blah. I think there should be a sheathe for a spear somewhere, two for swords (one on each side), and maybe an axe or two in front. A bag or two, but no random bags.

I think the steed should have champs dual-weilding champs on it's sides.

If there were one horse I would buy, it would have been the Champions horse. But as it looks the way it does now I will stick to one of the40 horses I already got..

I don't even have a champion, but I have to agree. Compared to the other class horses (especially the runekeeper), this one feels anticlimactic.

Doesn't matter what it looks like to me. I'm never going to buy it.

It is a done deal at this point. Our choices are:

1) Get the Champion Horse and use it.

2) Ignore it.

It possible that we might looking at a "New Coke" product - something not well liked. Turbine not is naive as Coca Cola by discontinuing the "Old Coke". Telling Yula - Buy "New Coke" or do without. Which resulted in me going - I am buying Mountain Dew. Your "New Coke" tastes like Pepsi. I can't stand the taste of Pepsi hence I was buying and drinking "Old Coke".

The Champion Horse does not tickle our collective desires. It will not sale well.

Yep, give us a real champion's horse. I mean us champs are the berserkers on the battlefield, let us have a steed to actually SHOW that. A skull tied to the saddle maybe, an axe for chopping, and an axe for wood, let it be scruffy, blood splattered, as if we had just come from a major engagement.

For if there is one thing real champs are not it is tidy, civilized... think Black Beauty on a Conan-trip and you got the perfect horse for us!

add some weapons and a crossed-swords emblem somewhere and I am ready to hop on!

What? People actually buy these class horses? I've never seen anyone using one in game.

Hm yea, gotta say this one hasn't taken my fancy at all. I've loved all the class steeds so far and eagerly awaited the next, but upon seeing the champ steed for the first time I felt very disappointed. I think I was expecting something a little more like Theoden's horse from the lotr movies.

it should have been fully armoured with blood splatters on the armour and orc heads mounted on the back via spears kinda like the flags on the meta horses

I have to agree this steed is a big let down. If there was one horse that I was looking forward to it was this one. Now that I've seen it I don't care any more. Please redesign it.

The horse is great. Lotro's biggest problem is that they offer too many choices. It seems to have spoiled some people. Maybe there's a game out there that allows you to design your own mounts, so you can stop complaining about Lotro.

Well I went ahead and bought it for my one and only heavy-armor girl.

It has a graphics bug. The horse's hips poke up through the back of the armor when it's running -- which of course is what you see most of the time. I keep calling it the horse with "butt flaps." Extremely annoying to pay for a horse only to have it be buggy.

I don't mind paying into the game, because I get a huge amount of enjoyment from it, but a lot of what I enjoy is the visual as opposed to the game mechanics part. And this is ... well, rather than be ugly about it, let's just call it "disappointing."

So we finally got our steed. I was instantly pleased to NOT see the ridiculous 'class icon' plastered all over it like a cheap WoW-meets-Nascar cartoon. It has armour, and weapons. Adding a dagger was a nice touch. They could have just slapped two swords on it and said done. Sure, as an artist I coulda-shoulda-woulda done it my way, but I don't work for Turbine.

One thing I'd like very much to see is a new wireframe made instead of reskinning old models ad nauseum. I imagined a war horse as something out of a Frazetta painting. We can be thankful the someone who designed the craptacular 4th Anniversary 'rewards' (pronounced, 'punishing us with girly birthday cake My Little Pony designs and dresses for every male in Middle Earth') didn't design the class steeds. That or the same person did design em and was so humiliated they woke up and quit watching 24 hour marathons of Powerpuff Girls and such.

Sure, steeds could use tons of work. Different sizes, a steed with an imposing attitude.

As far as our 'boast' goes? Valar save us, what weak, thin-blooded yuppie spawn straight outta the 'hood' (pronounced 'yuppie cul-de-sac') did THAT pansy voice over? I am ashamed to use it, EVER.

Take 4 adult males, sparring with shinai, after a night of hard drinking, have them of Germanic, Nordic, Irish, backgrounds and see if they sound like a yuppie pansy named Chet, or Biff, who is telling his pals his Mum and Dad just bought him a new Volvo while 'boasting'. Where is the fury and the thunder in that voice? Where is the defiance of the gods or calling down Odin to crush enemies?

If they wanted good Champ voice overs they needed my pal Bjorn in berserker mode while sparring and trying to take my head off. Blood flowed at times in FRIENDLY matches. Yes, there was much ale and spirits involved.

Don't get me started on the animations.

After such a long wait, I suppose I was happy with SOMEthing. Turbine, please just don't let us down with Rohan. It's make or break time for you guys with myself and some other long-time players.

PS, if you REALLY want good battle sound design, find the biggest , most irate guys in office who are tired of player complaints, fill em with ale and mead and toss em practice swords. After they are snackered say to em, now that guy with the sword? He is the embodiment of every whiny player. GET HIM! During a huge thunderstorm. With lots of lightning. You will get the sound you need.
