Same here! But by just now finding out that we can win a steed (or other goodies) I will definitely be more excited to do this quest
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
I know RNG is exactly that "random" but today I picked the emote 6 times from 11 alts (ie quests) having never picked up an emote before. Actually all those emotes were picked up in the first 7 alts. All my alts were parked in Bree so the quests were done in rapid succession. This would be at about 4am or 5am EST.

Heh yeah that is exactly what you can expect with true random drops. You could win every time for two weeks or never win at all. I seem to be in the latter category ;-) But it's ok. I still have TP left to spend on badges...
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
Naturally I picked up a Dusk Steed on my second envelope with one of my alts. I've run it 8 times with my main and gotten nothing better than an anniversary coin. Bah!
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
I've gotten 2 dusk watch/warden steed and 1 toast emote over 6 alts. This is my favorite among all the quests. Does anyone else think it's sort of like hunting Easter eggs? Every time I think I've found all the stationary hiding spots, I come across a new one! Fun!
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
I got 9 chars, 3 of them without riding skill, 2 of these 3 won a horse (both dwarves).
One of them is a pure bank char, the other one I will play at the end of the year, he will get his skill then. I hoped for the toast emote.
Of course none of my "larger" chars with riding skill got a horse yet, that would be what I hoped for. But 2 chars I never play got the /toast emote, one even twice in one session, yay. I just wonder why the 2nd one was used instantly and I could not give it to another char.
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
I ran this quest with my main last night and got 3 anniversary tokens and the usual festival invites then I ran it with my hunter alt and got the Steed of the Dusk Watch opening the 2nd envelope. I've been doing this quest for the past 3 days so woohoo!
I'm gonna keep at it on my main and see if I can score either of the mounts!
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
I've spent 1800 TPs and only one damn steed. I really want one for my burglar, but the one that got it was my minstrel, when I was so frustrated of spending TP on this damn thing and decided to try on other characters. The RNG is a messed up way of doing this when so many people are gluttoning out on steeds and others don't get excrement. It is aggravating, but I guess aggravating the players is of no concern to Turbine, they just want our money.

I'm finding it a lot of fun, rather than aggravating. I do want a fast steed with no flag for my main, but I enjoy Easter egg hunts. My favorite reward is the /toast emote -- even more than the steeds! I'm all dwarves and hobbits, and they're the ones the emote is best for. Better yet, it's tradeable -- you can find it on the AH on most of the servers where I have characters -- so if you just want to buy one of these rewards you can do it with gold.
I think the RNG is an excellent way to do it. If you want to buy one with in-game work, do the appropriate quests and deeds and rep. If you want to buy one with real TP, buy one of the fast Store horses. If you want to run around chasing envelopes (as I do), keep doing the dailies. This is another way to get a good horse -- not the only way.
If you really want the Lossoth Steed or Dusk-watch Steed on your main, keep trying, at least with your daily quest -- you have until the end of the month, and maybe some day they'll come on the Turbine Store.
I've run it 173 times (lots of characters, not buying the Postmaster badge), and have gotten 18 premium rewards: 6 Dusk-watch, 5 Lossoth and 7 /toast. For my tiny statistically-insignificant sample that's a 10.4% chance of getting something good on one set of six invitations.

I noticed this yesterday on one of my alts
But on the server I'm playing some people are selling this emote in the AH, so it seems there is a way to get it.

Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
One of the biggest design flaws with this quest and the Treasure Hunt before is that mounts are bound to character yet you have no idea which one you will be getting. I really wanted the Treasure horse in the treasure hunt event, but I went through 2 goats while trying to get it. Similarly in this case, I am looking for the Dusk-watch steed but already got 2 Lossoth mounts. Could possibly get more before I get the one I want.
If possible, they should change this type of mount drop in events into barterable tokens with which you can pick which mount you want. Unless they do want to keep the search unreasonably longer.
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
There are definitely two versions of the /toast emote. I got the tradeable version a couple of days ago, and just now the instantly consumed one (different characters but same server).
Still trying for a Lossoth steed, though I've won the Steed of the Dusk Watch on four different characters over three servers.
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
9 chars on my main account, 6 days opening invitations, 6+ attempts per = 9x6x6+ = ~ 325 attempts. I've won 5 anniversary tokens, 2 toasts. The rest are festival invitations or unwanted.
....and this would be why I don't play the lottery IRL

I'm still mystified by the difference between the two. I thought maybe it was a UI setting - after the 3rd duplicate got absorbed it occurred to me to turn off Auto-loot. About 50 quests later I finally got another /toast on a character who already had it... and it got absorbed without a trace.
Doggone it! Maybe *here* is where the Horseshoe of Erebrandir needs to be equipped!
Current stats: 212 completed quests, 12 Dusk-Watch, 6 Lossoth, 13 /toast (plus 1-3 extra /toasts absorbed before I started tracking those). And neither of my two mains has a fast flag-less steed yet.

He can win the horse. He'll get a [Steed of the Dusk-Watch] token, and when he finally gets the riding skill it will convert to a horse (either Steed of the Dusk-Watch or Warden's Steed depending on race) if it's in his pack, or as soon as it's returned from the vault to his pack.
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
So far I've gotten 9 steeds in 43 quests (~400 envelopes?). So based on entirely too small a sample size, I'm guessing that the chance per envelope is 1% for each steed.
On the flip side, I have to congratulate Turbine for creating a quest where you don't want to actually get the quest item!
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
The RNG hates me too, have done the quest on at least a couple characters each day, and today did it on 9 toons. No horses, no emotes. Compare that to my kinmate who yesterday got the Lossoth horse and emote, and today got the Dusk horse x2 and the emote again.
I really think there's something wrong with their RNG key, so the winners keep winning.

Yeah I'm looking at the post above yours and feeling bummed. IRL I never win anything so I've kinda expected that I will never win things IRL, but in-game I was hoping my luck would be different. Guess not. Last month I made 500 ingots and not 1 crit. I came back to the computer only to see not a single crit.
RNG really hated me today - I didn't even get unwanted message (which u can sell for 1s :P), I got 54 (9x6) invitations in a row. Don't touch me, I'm cursed :|
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
Tried today for the first time with my Hunter - nothing. Then with Warden - got Lossoth Steed. I expected long and fruitless effort with these but decided to give this a try because I wanted to get Warden-steed.
Re: And the winner is.. Opening Envelopes for The Lost Invivations Quest
I'd like to know if the exploit that so many seem to be using to get all the mounts/emotes is going to go unpunished. Personally, since it is an expoit and should be easy enough for the gms to tell if it was used, I think anything those players got from it should be deleted. Let them use the rng like the rest of us, perhaps if enough would voice discontent with it they'd up our chances..

I don't think anyone is using an exploit, although it may seem that way when it seems like everyone around you is getting mounts and you aren't after many, many tries. So I can see were you are coming from, but its probably your imagination.

Nope, there is a definite exploit being used, but I'm not going to spell it out. The quest is intended to limit you to only opening up enough letters to get 6 lost invitations, and once you get the 6th, you can't open any more envelopes (unless you buy another badge from the Lotro Store, otherwise you have to wait till the next calendar day to open more). There is a way to circumvent it, which many people are doing. I too hope that this is dealt with, it's disheartening to see so many people obviously circumventing the intended limit with no repercussions, and not at all fair to the rest of us who are playing by the rules.

Happily, my hunter got a mount the next day, and I got the toast emote on another toon - now I want it on all of them. But sadly, everything is bound to character.
Why hand out rewards that can be acquired from gameplay? The warden steed or other character steeds are ONLY in the store, rep mounts are in game. I'd rather shorten the list of mounts to what only comes from the store, or other extremely rare drops like skeleton painted mounts that can only be acquired through lottery. If you can earn it normally, it shouldn't be in the list of 'rewards', because if you already have it, your 'reward' is no reward at all.

You can't earn the envelope rewards normally. The "Steed of the Dusk-watch (aka Warden's Steed)" is different from the Annuminas rep horse. The "Lossoth Steed" is different from the Lossoth rep horse. Neither is (yet) available from the store or the Lottery. The /toast emote isn't available anywhere else either (yet).

Ah, so I misunderstood the post. I was operating under the assumption that rep mounts were the only mounts that were named for the group you earned rep from. If these mounts are not available in game, then it makes sense to have them as a reward.
