I know this topic has been discusded several times, but I can't find the solution for my problem anywhere... So I hope you can help me. I play Lotro for almost 3 month now, and never had any connectivity problems since 1 or 2 weeks. At the beginning it started with the 20 attempts to connect to the logon server, which failed. I read the forums and they said I just need to restart the router. So I did and it worked out fine, but now it accurs more often and the router restart method doesnt work anymore. I also did the stuff regarding my firewall (opening ports / allowing all programs necessary ) but nothing helps and I get a bit frustrated ... Hopefully somebody can still give me some more tips I maybe have missed out. Thx for your help in advance
Maybe your ISP blocked the port. I would call them and ask. I'm not sure what port the logon server uses, but I would find that information first.
I know that ISPs are beginning to block port 25, which is the default port for SMTP, which allows mail to be sent out from Outlook, or many other e-mail clients. So it is quite possible that they are blocking the logon port as well. Like I said, call them and find out. If they are, you can ask if there is anything you can do to let you through. If it is not them, they might be able to help you find the issue. Good luck!

Well i still have this problem... i tried to use ipconfig /flushdns, restarted my connection, deleted IE temporary file etc.
yes i am doing this at work but i have a direct line so no filters for me and port 25 is unlocked... any ideas...
btw i have admin privileges
The situation is this, my dad has a server, which contains a firewall through which the internet goes. My Pc is stationed behind the server. My problem with the "searching for logon-server" only occures after the servers (e.g Meneldor) had been shut down for maintenance. Afterwards I asked my dad to restart the firewall on his server and the problem was solved. But he didnt change any settings, it was just the restart of the firewall. I dont know why this helps... I dont have any porblems with other online games except Lotro, and I cant restart the firewall every single time after an update because my father is root and rarely at home.
