I've just had a quick look around the forum and I can't see any patch notes for today's update.
Can anybody link me to what I've missed, or enlighten me what the patch is updating/fixing?
Just gift boxes?
Main: Tirnolwe of The Lost Companions, Laurelin (75LM)
Alts: Silithil (75CHP) Campion (75GRD) Alunadail (75MIN) Geirdis (75CP) Turbine no plans to fix MyLotro.
This is correct, although I must admit they have me wondering why something this minor has to take 4 hours..
I agree too, if its a minor fix, should not take 4 hours. But then, I donot know the magnitude of exploit that they are fixing. If I am correct, no notes are released for Hotfixes which aim to fix the exploits within the game. I guess we all just have to wait and watch when servers are back functional again
I don't think they need 614 files for just this stupid box ....
That's why I asked... I wouldn't expect such a big client side patch for that.

Though I must add that I hope in their next patch they can update the player character informations in the signatures. Must have been stuck like this since late feb, I have 6-6 on all professions of this character and yet the counters have not updated for a long long time
Oooh I know why they need 4 hours - they operate each character and take away the b****y Lootbox keys! :O
I'm being paranoid and suspecting something along those lines. How many keys might some folks end up getting otherwise? Personally could care less - but someone in the store may.
Would also love some communication on this. What is the intended outcome? Should alts gets keys? Is it 3 per account? There is a difference between providing exploit information and letting the customers know what they should be able to expect from their experiences. (this goes for all issues and not just this one )
@saurontx: thats not a issue within the game, thats some outside sync programs not updating recent ingame data (or selective data, because deed progression is shown correct up to date on mylotro stuff)
I suspect it's the keys issue - one person said he was expecting 52 keys on all his alts - imagine all those 3 year people and all their alts getting all those keys - they will be giving them away on the AH within days if that happened. It would have ruined the whole loot box dynamics (such as they are) so while it would have been kinda nice to get cheap keys, it's not in the best interests of the game as a whole. Then they would have to go back and make the loot boxes impossible to get just to balance out the plethora of keys - more programming, more things to complain about and more downtime.

Not too sure how free keys are 'not in the best interests of the game as a whole'. Not in the best interests of a part of the store's current revenue stream perhaps.

The gift-keys are Bound to Account, so no money can be made off them. But to have infinite access to keys just by creating new characters seems a bit much. I assume they will be addressing this, plus a number of strange string errors that were visible in the chat window: <string table error; tableDID.
Maybe even the Fireworks Announcer going mute in Bree and I'm hoping for an increase in the spawn rate of the Sparking an Interest quest.
To expect the hitching, stuttering and stable-horses on strike issue fixed seems a bit much for a hotfix.

Oh, I didn't know that - thanks for letting me know not to expect a glut of keys - and that totally wipes out my theory on the box issue.
Or perhaps I get a mail with my Menders Bauble in it .....
I can dream, can't i?
If they decide to put the missing Mender's bauble into our inventories after this Update, I'm gonna feel so ripped off because I bought it by the vendor yesterday
The keys were only bound to account if you didn't already have a steel key in your bags, in which case they just stacked on top of that one and made them the same as pick up keys.

Re: Client patching 18th April
The only fix is the fix explicitly called out in the downtime message. The time required is a question of process and validation. It takes time to prop the servers with the new build, it takes time to prop the patch servers with the new client, it takes time to verify everything once it is all up and running, it takes time to have QA go through and insure that they are able to patch, login, and play on a standard 'player' account before opening the worlds to players.
There is also a built in buffer that allows us to fix any minor issues we may encounter without having to extend the downtime.

What's impressing me is the time they took to react. 2 days.
When the wardens or some big issue are know as orthanc is closed, warden is bugged, minnie is bugged... bah, 3 or 4 weeks if we are lucky.
When you touch the wallet...
3-4 weeks? Try 5-6 months with an entire broken class post-ROI. But yeah, unbreaking the warden ended up being way complicated because of Orion's inability to take the direct path (mitigations) to fixing the class, so I'll grant you that it was not quite the same thing.
The generation of random numbers is too important to be left to chance.
Hey i know it won't be long before the open again, but i can't work out what time they will be open for the British time zone:P So can anyone just quickly tell me?
I always check the time at the bottom of this page - without logging in. If you don't log in, the time shown is US time, and then I don't have to convert everything to my timezone (e.g. page says 9am, servers open at 10am, so must be up in one hour).
