Gossiping giggling American office girls in the Vault?
I don't know if it's always been there, or if it's new, or if it's been made more prominent, or even if when I turned up my volume I have only now noticed it...but has anyone else really listened to the background conversation noise in the Vault?
Firstly, the voices have very distinct American acccents, using contemporary language (you guys...I guess... I'm gonna take off) and at one point they talk of "it arrived at one or two in the morning, ... decided they wanted to wake us up". In another moment, unless I am mis-hearing, one complains of being "pissed off". They are primarily young american female with one male - who seems to be the boss. One young woman is called "Isabel", and she "hasn't got through it all yet".
Now that I know that it is there, I am finding it most distracting.
I know it's the Vault (the bank) so I get the nod to the office environment, but surely Turbine can do better than 21st century North American office gossip for background noise in Middle-earth?

The only people they have in their own office to supply the dialogue, is, you guessed it, gossiping gigling north American office girls. Hopefully they keep the normal lewd remarks about men under control.
How about a Heat Seeking Arrow for the Hunter, specifically for Ettenmoors

"We go there!"
Yes it is all over the place, wherever crowds are supposed to be, and once you pick up the conversation it is very hard to ignore it, I find loud trance music covers it up quite well though.

Yea. I objected to this long ago. It's an afternoon's work for one intern to come up with a setting appropriate murmur of background noise but instead someone holds their cell up in the middle of the cafeteria at lunch time and then spends 10 minutes speeding up and slowing down the clip to create a loop. But store horses and cloaks don't reskin themselves I guess.

Correct. Sometime ago I recall a Turbine representative stating that some of the 'ambient' chatter in various public places was a recording of the ambient noise in the Turbine cafeteria and lounge - therefore current US young folk.

Did he state why they couldn't be bothered putting in the minimal effort it would take to do a proper job as well?
No speech at all would be preferable. Just a bit of clatter.

I kinda wish it wasn't there.

Sheesh, surely they can afford the 10 bucks it costs to license a quality loop from a professional sound recordist / foley artist.

Ugh. I was just in the Bree crafting hall and it's really annoying. I don't want to turn down the volume because I enjoy the music but the breakroom banter has to go. I don't mind background people talking but a breakroom?

Hmm...I never noticed this. Lately I have been playing with my game sounds muted, but before, I guess I never paid attention to the chitter chatter. I'll have to turn sound back on and try listening (and then, probably turn it right back off!)
Re: Gossiping giggling American office girls in the Vault?
I've never heard it at all, because I play mostly with the sound off. I do like the music -- some of it anyway, like Rivendell or the Brandywine Bridge. But I hate the sudden ominous stings and there's-about-to-be-a-battle movie-soundtrack music every time a mob gets within spitting distance. I also hate the yells and screams every time there is a battle. I wish there were a separate slider for turning those sound effects off and just hearing the music.
Re: Gossiping giggling American office girls in the Vault?
The first time I noticed the background chatter, I thought I was imagining things, then thought someones voice chat was audible for some strange reason, but since I couldn't understand a thing being said, decided it was just ambient noise.

There is a way to turn these off, or at least some of them. I accidently discovered this when setting up my newest warden. I don't remember where exactly the items are located, but I remember they aren't on the audio tab, and are called some sort of animation. They may be under combat options (or somewhere else). There are 2 or 3 of them and when I unchecked one of the boxes, my warden lost his voice.
Edit-- It is under ui setting special effects.

Age of Conan has a feature where you can mute the combat music and keep the soundtrack. For all it's faults, AoC has an incredible options panel.

Its incredibly annoying. Why did they put this in there? If this was for immersion, it had to have been done on April 1st and then somehow forgotten about.
