Re: Stable Mounts Issue and Stuttering/Hitching issues
Had several lag issues last night while running duo skirmishes and again on the landscape in Great River. While two-boxing I had skill lag on my main machine taking as long as 12 seconds to execute while the second box was working perfectly fine with no evidence of any lag. Minutes later same thing was happening on the secondary machine but for an even longer period of time while the main machine worked fine.
Clearly not an ISP issue since both machines are on the same connection, clearly not a machine problem as both machines experienced the lag spikes.
To compound the issues the forums have remained broken for weeks now making any contributions to this thread as frustrating as the lag issues being experienced in the game...
Re: Stable Mounts Issue and Stuttering/Hitching issues
Just started playing agian few nights ago and this has happened to me, on two different computers with two different accounts. Sometimes it will affect both computers but other time only one at a time. I have has it happen on quick travel mounts and regular travel mounts, never on my goat. i have to logout and back in for the mounts to start moving again. a few times i have had to task manager and kill the client.

Re: Stable Mounts Issue and Stuttering/Hitching issues
While no explicit mention of it is made in today's relase notes, we have made additional changes we feel may help alleviate some of the lag issues you've been reporting. In addition, we are making lag research part of today's official monitoring of launch issue. We will be bringing engineers and other people directly related with the networking and connectivity aspects of our game to monitor and log any unusual traffic, networking issue, server performance issues, or internet troubles in general. We will have extra staff on hand to monitor this, particularly during US 'prime time' play tonight.
To help keep things straight, we're going to close this thread around 3PM today and start a new thread later this evening during our most focused monitoring sessions. We ask that once that thread is opened you only post highly specific, detailed reports of what you were doing, where, and the exact server time you were doing it when you experienced a lag spike. Obviously bug reports would be the preferred method of reporting, but forum posts will be monitored.

Re: Stable Mounts Issue and Stuttering/Hitching issues
I am not sure if the "Fix is in" or not, but I had a hitch this morning before the update. Slow horse from Orc Watch to 21st hall and I stopped half way. At least I still registered as being on a travel mount and didn't aggro because there were 3 or 4 orcs meandering around while I stood there.

Good to hear you're on it in full force! And thanks for the heads up, I'll be sending tickets as soon as I see something.

Finally an acknowledgement that the lag does exist and that you're finally doing something concrete about it...
Thanks

you do realise that EU players are experiencing this lag too, and that "prime time" for us is much earlier than in the US? I invite one of you to join our Friday night raid and experience the lag for yourself, it's guaranteed to happen, even in a 6-man RoF last night the lag was awful.

This sounds good, and bad on one hand it looks like if there is a remaining issue the guns are being pulled to bear to blow any issues out of the water, on the other it appears there is some significant doubt as to the changes being effective.

Well, the whole operation is operating from Boston so I guess that might be more of a staff logistics issue. But yeah, I'm always a bit disappointed to find that once again my day off has to be spent elsewhere as the game is patching during my play time. But then I'm in Scotland and I work nights, so y'know, I'm not really typical in wanting to play Monday or Wednesday morning/afternoon. It's 3 in the afternoon, so I guess sleep is on the cards after winding down to Netflix instead of LOTRO...
Nice to see they are devoting resources to the trouble regardless of the timing though.

yes we do. However we have to schedule resources so this works best for us. Also, we don't have to be in game to see it. It would tell us nothing. We need to be looking at the reporting tools, hardware state, and server status and logs for the times people report the issues.

Frankly, I can't agree with you here. Perhaps the tech IN the game wouldn't be able to see the tools of which you speak but that tech would be able to see the problem as we see it AND be able to report it real-time to someone looking at the tools. One person in the game and one person watching the person in the game so that at the exact moment the lag occurs the person in the game tells the person watching and then the person watching can check all the tools.
To say there would be no diagnostical benefit is silly and shuts off a way for your fine folks to investigate, locate and trace the source of the problem from first hand experience (since last we heard, you folks didn't experience it in your game play).

For starters, the full quote was in reference to why we were not doing this test earlier in the day today (EU hours) rather than later (US hours). Don't want anyone being misled by the out of context quote.
As for how long a fix will take, it depends entirely on what the team discovers today. Identifying the issue, locating the source, and effecting a change are three very different things. We have made three changes to the game since the first reports of issues occurred without success. Clearly this is not a trivial issue or it would have been fixed with one of our earlier fixes.
Giving any type of estimate would literally be a wild guess.

I thought you were replying to the offer to join KhelgarFK's Friday Night Raid that you quoted. I didn't realize I was taking anything out of context and I didn't notice any discussion about the EU time differences, my apologies...

A 'wild guess' on a timeline for a fix for an issue that affects so many people isn't very helpful. While we all realize this has been a difficult problem to pin down, is there any sort of logical progression toward a fix that you could keep us posted about?

Re: Stable Mounts Issue and Stuttering/Hitching issues
The new thread is up. Please follow the instructions. Also, please do not post old reports only reports that are occurring right now in real time. Posting that you had lag yesterday won't help us.
Thanks!
