Ya, it was tasks. But that wasn't the only limit I hit.
Hit the 2 gold piece limit last night, so much for my armor making business lol Bought a house, not sure how else to waste silver in game lol. Lucked out, got a regular house but is is secluded and has a lake in the back. Guess that gold uncap will be the next thing I save TP for.

    Re: New with questions

I don't have money to save let alone spare. But hey, my birthday is coming and maybe once I'll have something mom can get me

Well so far, despite me losing my cool; easy enough for me to do, I haven't hit anything some grinding wouldn't fix. Considering I am diligently working on my crafting skills, I'm grinding for hides all the time

    Now for the questions
Bree flax fibers are just the same as common flex fibers?

Still clueless what to do with all these tin and iron tokens. Seems all I can do is trade them for other tokens to trade for battle bonuses, that I wouldn't use. So what to do with them besides let them build up? Maybe I still haven't found the right place to trade them.
I found a woman during the festival that swapped me some cool stuff for them. But that looks like it's over now. Still looking though for what to do with them though.
I'm also running around trying to get all these different quests done everywhere, up to 20th level. When I get the TP for finishing so many quests in an area is that all the free one's in that area? It looks like I may have lost a couple by not finishing them earlier, maybe I just can't find the person I get it from.

    Time to play.

I believe their drop rate is similarly as uncommon.

If you've got a Forester, try to save them when gathering logs. Else, you can purchase them at a Skirmish camps.

You can trade them for Gift Boxes, or Skirmish marks. They are all over the place, including Bree, Michel Delving, Thorin's Hall, Celondim, etc.

No. Simply completing the "Do X quests (final)" doesn't mean you've completed ALL the quests there are to do in that area.

Now I have some general weirdness going on with a bow. My character for some reason, when I start an attack, put his bow away then gets it back out to make the first shot. A bug to report?

A few comments on a few things you mentioned.

    1. You mentioned in one post not concerned about rep - get concerned. A few examples - Thorins Hall rep gets you a goat. You have to get a goat to ride in Moria or plan on walking a lot. Horses are too scared to go in Moria. Remember Bill? many items you will want to buy (recipies) and or items to use require some level of rep with certain factions. In general getting Kindred with the factions pays off pretty well.

    2. You hit the F2P gold cap @ 2G. Your excess gold will be kept in escrow until you unlock the cap.

    3. If you are cash strapped you are going to need to grind the TPs so you can buy items in game on the cheap. TPs come from questing, slayer deeds, etc. Keep an eye on your deed log.

    4. The flax you mentioned, not the same. each of the 7 crafting tiers have differnt crit items. Tailors use the flaxes. They sell exceptionally well in the AH. Or use them as trade in stacks to a tailor for gear.

    5. You mentioned gaps from levels 15 - 20 something. All the levels have "zones". At this time for levels 15 - 20 you should be in the South barrows, maybe up in the north east area of Breeland. Try to stay in areas where the quests are white to orange depending on your play skill and armor/bling quality. Best bang for time invested. Blue and green mobs/quests just do not pay off to well. There are some posts around with what the zones are, dang if I can find them this morning.

    6. For super easy TPs and virtue points, make sure you do your exploration deeds. You get free TPS and points just for riding your horse around the landscape. Again, check your deed log.

    Re: New with questions

I keep getting TP with out meaning to. I've sort of gotten in to leather crafting armor. So I hunt a lot; well I am a hunter
In fact my crafting skills are in excess of my level. I had to go hunting "orange"; 25th level animals because I'm 23rd now, to find the right hides to make my new armor; stought{ you don't want to know what my posts would look like with out FF spell checker LOL} leather I believe. Leaps better then what I had. I'm working on the borrows in Bree; tough stuff even at 23rd level with some serious nice medium armor.

In trying to keep my cash from over flowing I bought another horse, nothing wrong with a spare horse lol I've bumped up my vault capacity twice. I like my house but I wish I had a fishing dock out back and a crafting table and forge out front
And there has got to be some place where I can get better or different furnishings, I've only found the one place, are there any more?

How do I get the hunting trophies? I think they are drops from animals, tokens I can use at the taxidermist. With all the hunting I do I should at least have a bear one by now. May I not have recognized it if I got it? I mean the fish are like framed and I spotted them right up, get them quite often. But I may not have noticed one with the animals.

I've had my butt handed to me 4 times in the burrows already; same crypt, so I think I'm going to work on my master apprentice in tailoring, may join the guild. So I'll be hunting for light hides this evening; with flaming arrows lol

And what about this forestry and prospecting{?} will I ever be able to do more then make boards and smelt metal to ingots :?

Housing trophies do drop from mobs. There was a website way back when that has a list of them. Some minor googling will probrably find it. The description for teh trophy will say something like teh taxidermist in Bree would be interested in this item. That is your clue.

The same thing exists for Moria. As certain mobs drop trophys the item will say the taxidermist in 21st Hall will be interested.

As to the money. No need to "waste" it just to buy stuff. At some point you are going to realize you need to unlock the gold cap and all that money will become available to you.

There are a few spots in the Barrows that are dangerous, just adds spice. At this point you should be ready to start grouping in the Great Barrow instances. You must complete them in a specific order to get keys to open the next Barrow. Unless there are experienced peeps leveling alts do not expect a lot of cohesion. The GB runs are basically 6 people still acting as individuals. Still good experience to get.

    Re: New with questions

I was out hunting low level monsters must have dropped 40 or so, no taxidermist trophy's, might be a level thing though.

I'm working on getting the TP together to drop the gold cap. Still 110 shy and having a hard time finding more deeds to do. I seem to be running out of them except for the long term deeds; kill 100 somethings.

One of the problems for me in these games is I don't party up. I'm not a team player, I don't play well with others. I will help people out that seem to be having trouble in an area I am in but I always turn down fellowship offers. Just me, I know.

I'm at a loss as to what to actually spend my gold/silver on. I make my own armor so no need to buy any. The weapons I have are weak, but I can't buy any better, and haven't found anything better for about 7 levels now. It wound be nice if I could pick up just one more craft, what ever one allows me to make bows. So my adventuring costs are low yet my profits from adventuring is high.

I need to see how trade works in the game. I'd like to trade some copper salts for green dye but not sure how to go about it.

And I see deeper trade possibilitys that I haven't figured out yet; the trophy vender in one of the craft halls for one.

I have been scouting for unfinished lower level quests in the dwarf and hobbit kingdoms but it seems they only go to 10th level and I may have them all done.

You have to kill specific mobs in specific areas to get a trophy. For example, the bears in fornost area drop a trophy, the worms in forachel drop one, the trolls deep in goblin town, to name a few that I can remember. The moose in forachel.

If you join the inn league in festivals, you can get funny taxidermy results, a bear drinking beer, a moose smoking a pipe, etc.

    Re: New with questions

Dug this up with google http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...-Hunting-Guide It would be helpful if I could window the game so I could just back to check this stuff, but the good old fashion paper and pencil comb work lol

I'm trying the first one and will get back.

Found the elf quests, sort of rode right buy them doing the dwarf quests. Now it's just a matter of doing the deeds. I still stumble on the odd quest here and there, so I know I haven't done them all, just all the easy to find ones lol Then there are the quests you get from drop items, never know when one of those may pop up.

    Re: New with questions

Well harrumph. Found the barkshredder bears, quite a pocket of them. Must have dropped 50 or so, no trophy

I see there is artisan above master, and master of each stage. Crafting is going to take a while lol I've joined the tailors guild and have to wonder just what it is about. Seems like it is little more the buying a pattern recepy, making it, and swapping it for ability to buy the next pattern. To what purpose? I mean what can I do with it once I have it? Will I be able to use these patterns when making armor?

Is there any shop that sells dyes? Or is the only way to get them is to buy them in the store? I mean besides the odd reward of dyes.

Been spending the last few days doing more grinding on mobs for TP then questing. Was up to 240TP and checked, yes the gold cap off was still on sale. Ground for another two and a hlf hours to get my TP up to 265, went to take off the gold cap,.... yes, the sale was over I'd be more upset if this just wasn't so normal for me lol So I'll just let it role over, as far as I can tell I'm not loosing it, just can't use it till I take the cap off. So basically I always have 2 gold lol

Still having a real hard time with a few of the quests in the burrows. Even at 26th level they are tough. Even with my all new outrider medium armor

    Re: New with questions

Unfortunately you won't be able to go past acquaintance with the tailor's guild unless you buy access to the guild with real money.

The point of guilds is that as you advance, you can get recipes that are a guaranteed teal crit, and eventually (it won't matter until you're 50 or so), you will be able to make relics for legendary items, and be able to make some legendary items as well.

Scholars make dyes, find them on the auction hall or ask in trade - if people are skilling up, they're often happy to do it in exchange for materials (your copper salts). If you've got any sienna, hold onto it - that goes into crimson dye, which is wildly popular, and sienna is hard to get as it only occasionally turns up in tin nodes.

ETA: Turn in those tin, iron, whatever metal tokens at any keeper of gifts in exchange for skirmish marks, you're going to need them down the road whether you skirmish or not. If you forget, there's always a guy outside the hunter's lodge in bree who will take them any time of the year. As for housing decoration, you can also pick some up with anniversary or any festival tokens, and if you go to the elven homestead provisioner, you can get some nice recipes for rugs that tailors can make.

    Re: New with questions

Well I'm up to 30th now and going back to the burrows. Finally beat the boss warg in the tomb, now maybe I will be able to collect up stuff and get these done.

So far the only snag I have hit is the gold cap. Looks like the biggest share of the TP I can earn in the game will be going for that. Pity I missed it during the price reduction. But that is the only big snag so far. Still plenty of quests to do and just stepped in to a new land last night; north of the hobbit downs.

Finally checked out the auction house. Apparently people haven't heard about the value of an item being what the market can bear. Done this in other games; Fargoria and Dead frontier. If the last bid isn't even close to your buy out you have way over priced the item. I may put up some rare material components later, but I would rather do it in lots; 10 or 12 count. Just bank the item till I have the count; once I remove the gold cap, no reason to do it before then.

And I want a bigger house.

Now the fun part, I need to buy off the gold cap, but it seems I am running out of easy TP deeds. I mean many are in to the the 120-250 counts now; for body count deeds. I was getting them with out trying just because of the way I play; max body count looking for trophies, so I walk most everywhere even though I have 2 horses.

So the question is is there a list of places where deed mobs; like goblins, orcs, wargs ect, can be found? It seems I am going to have to make a concerted effort to get more TP.

And I have been dropping bears left and right everywhere. It seems to me that is bears dropped a trophy for the taxidermist I would have hit one by now. Is anyone getting these trophy drops?
It seems fishing is the only ones I get.

Sorry about the lack of place names, I'm lucky to remember my own name from day to day. But right now I am working on crafting north of Bree, trestle something, in the mountains where the guild hall is. Seems like this is the best place to work on journeyman medium armor. A place to work and a bank in the same building, and the right components all around Pale flax drops rare but regular.

    But no quests.

Faction Rep is an easy 50 TP (total when you hit kindred); skirmishes like Tuck and Gondo offer faction rep for completion, and if you wish, you can trade in the marks you earn for rep items at the 'curiosities' vendor in any skirm camp. Otherwise mmorsel has a TP finder, last updated pre-Isenguard.

Trophy hunting guide a la Casual Stroll to Mordor and a slightly messier but more detailed thread here on the forums.

From your description, it sounds like you're at Esteldin in the North Downs atm. As a free player, you'll have to get the North Downs quest pack before you'll be able to access quests and deeds there, though obviously you can hunt/craft/collect/advance class deeds regardless.

    Best of luck!

Didn't see it mentioned so I'll just add that getting reputation is now a very fast way to get TP. I think it works like this: Becoming Acquainted will get you 5 TP, Friend is 10 TP, Ally is 15 TP and Kindred is 20.

So for example, heading out to the Barrows for an hour or two will get you a lot of Bree and Mathom House rep items. Turn those in (right click) and you'll quickly hit rep milestones for TP. More info here: http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Reputation

have you looked into the Lotro-Wiki
here's info about the Deeds http://lotro-wiki.com/index.php/Deeds

if you cannot find any, you could start another Character on another server, if you have your character slots filled on the server you're playing on now. It doesn't matter you have more then one server you play on, the TP earned is to the Account, not to the Character.
Just don't fall in love with the new character and start spending TP on them
Also, if you can dig up the $7.99, that for the (currently get's you) 600 TP, and will increase your cap to 5 gold.

I'm sure you could find some creative way to score $8, maybe

Just some ideas/suggestions . . another option for gaining TP

I live broke. Seems the only time I have money is 30 seconds before something pops up needing it lol

I've done the barksheders bears a lot. Gotten at least 50, no trophy. In fact I probably drop 50 bears a day in various places. it seems to me if trophies did drop, I'd have one by now. Of coarse I should have one for spiders and wargs; think I did for a spider once, but was just a leg. Got a paw for killing a warg I summoned in a quest, but haven't taken it to a taxidermist to find out if it is something.

One thing I love about this game is there is so much to keep up with. One of the things I hate is the amount of time I spend getting from a to b lol.

I'm working on finishing out the best suit of medium armor I can. Figure I'll have it done about the time I get to some place that has the next up hides to work with. So I can start over again on my armor lol

I book marked some of those links so I can print the page out; always nice to have hard copy handy. Thanks all.

If you are collecting trophies from everything you kill AND mining/collecting whatever your crafting allows... you shouldn't BE broke. Unless, of course, you are BUYING stuff in the AH. That will run you out of money right quick.

If you can swing it, buy some Auction House slots and list stuff to sell yourself. You will get a lot more for your unneeded crafting materials on the AH than by selling them to an NPC. While those prices seem crazy to you, they're often not a lot of money to someone who has multiple high-level characters and wants to grind up crafting. YOU may think that 500 silver is a lot of money, but that's 10 minutes of hunting in Isenguard.

If you are truly short on money you should stop turning in your trophies for Tasks for a while. That's a significant source of money at your level.

If you have enough TPs to do it, I highly recommend buying the Evendim quest pack. Do your hunting in Oatbarton (where you would then have quests and deeds) rather than the North Downs (which is where you are currently hunting).

Of coarse I should have one for spiders and wargs; think I did for a spider once, but was just a leg. Got a paw for killing a warg I summoned in a quest, but haven't taken it to a taxidermist to find out if it is something.
Not all items can be brought to a taxidermist. The spider leg and the warg paw may have been crafting items in the distant past, but they are not barter items for housing trophies. Usually the barter item will be something like "Undamaged [somethingorother] corpse".

Not to say it can't happen, but I have never gotten one from low-level bears. In fact, farming for an undamaged corpse may be a good way to drive yourself completely insane, so my advice would be to just keep playing and let fate decide if you get one at some point or not. (I suppose you could get the housing item on the AH, too, depending on how important it is to you.)

    Re: New with questions

The thing is I have gotten 9 fishing trophies so far, but no animal trophies. And I slaughter a lot more animals then I fish. I'm working on the body count deeds for TP, and have most of them up to the 250 300 range now, but still no trophy of any sort for any animal. I'm of the opinion there is a bug so animals don't drop trophies and no one is trying to get them to realize they aren't.

Finally got the token to marks thing figured out and that is the way to go. Trading tokens for marks to use at the skirmish camps to buy items like weapons and scrolls. Got a nice set of matching long swords and several new tailor recipes.
The burrows coins I use to buy potions or scrolls; I have close to 300 now even using them. I'm also a survival horror fan and used to play Dead frontier all the time, so I have a thing for slaughtering the undead lol

I'm in the hobbit kingdom now trying to get the deeds done there. I want to get that gold cap taken off so I can buy a bigger house and get more storage space at the bank. I've filled my house trunk and my 60 slots at the vault. I need more space if I am going to save components to sell at the action; I'd like to sell them in lots of 12 so i will have to save some till I have 12.

Oh, I wish I had realized a while back I can buy pale flax at the skirmish sites with marks; I can be so thick sometimes lol

    Re: New with questions

    I have a theory.
You know how when you shot/kill a regular animal most of the time they just fade? You know, dear, squirrels, rabbits. Well sometimes they don't and I get a token. I realized this hunting dear in the shire. About maybe 5% of the time you get a token rather then the dear just fading. Could it be there is some bug that is giving a token when it should be giving a trophy? That 5% is about how often I get a fishing trophy so it sounds right.

In my experience, and as others have said elsewhere in this thread, the low level normal beasts do not seem to drop housing trophies at all. You would be best to forget about it for now and wait until you get into areas like Forochel, that have beasts such as saber-tooth cats and frost worms that do have a chance to drop an item that can be made into a trophy at a taxidermist.

You can also acquire beast trophies from the AH if you want one before then.

Have you ever gotten a trophy drop from anything? I have a list of what beasts suposedly drop trophy's where, and they don't.

I have got an Undamaged saber-cat corpse in addition to a frost-worm one before - I seem to remember both dropped from beasts in Forochel.

    Re: New with questions

    Finally got one :O

Thing is it is quite specific where and what. For the black bear trophy it has to be the agitated barkshreder bears and only at the withywindle crossing, in the old forest. So I can assume I will get more trophies when I get the right creature in the right place. next o the list is the barghest in the north downs. I'll try it later.

Got the gold cap removed and spent my 7 gp fast, moved to a bigger house better located; the exit gate is a bit up on one side of me, the shop is just about out back lol. Next will be more space in my vault. I think I am going to get in to collecting and selling material components. I'd like to sell them in lots of 12 so some will have to be stored for a while. I mean I am on foot using my forester and prospector skills all the time, might as well save the rare stuff rather then just cash it out some place.

I haven't gotten to where I really need to buy any moduals, but I am thinking about the forsaken tavern one and the one for the north?? I mean I am in the areas already so I might as well get the quests. It's just a matter of squeezing the money out.

Only selling lots. based on my experience, peole seem to prefer 10, 50 or 100. Odd lots like 12 or 24 have never done as well.

    Re: New with questions

Hmm, one of those forum that arbitrarily logs you out. Nice to know when you hit submit after a lengthy post. poof by by post.

Well I have given up on any of the quests in the great barrow. These are party quests only so I can't do them solo. A pity considering I own the rest of the barrows.
And I can never catch the stalker of haudh iarchith home. Another barrow quest I can't get done.

Other then that I'm moving along smoothly. I still trip over low level quests I haven't done. Like the ones at the dead mans point{?} in the barrows. I know there is more to the shire and ered luin that I have missed; I can't have gotten them all done.

I've tried to use the interactive map here to locate missed quests but every time I set the filters to show them it locks my browser up. And I mean to the point of killing task to close it. Anyone else having trouble with it? I'm on with Firefox.

    Re: New with questions

Woot, got the stalker one done. Seems the best way to do it is when there are very few people on, I assume the boss doesn't respawn too fast, so you have to go in when there hasn't been some one else run through in a while.

Now I am on the hunt for a usable map of quest givers. I'd really like to wrap up some of these low level quests before I move on to the higher level ones.

Is the forsaken inn instance/ TP quest a solo or party quest/s?

    Edit to add:
The map search was a bust. Not that I couldn't find them I just couldn't copy or save image to print out to use while in game. And I have yet to find a way to minimize the game so I can use the online resources while in game.

it can be done solo or with fellows; easier with fellows (light, heavy, AND medium) armor though
    Ameldun: [Level 85 Hunter]
Akkhal: [Rank 4 Warleader] Mozkhal: [Rank 4 reaver]
And a bunch more... On gladden of course

Thanks. My TP is building again, but not sure if I want to put off getting the forsaken inn, hate to out level it before I get it. And I don't know when I might be able to squeeze some money out of my very limited budget. Don't think there is anything I can give up to get TP, my living expenses have been stripped to the bone.

    L75

Did kill deeds where trophy hides drop when available. Only every got 3. ymmv

You can earn tp with other characters on the same account. TP are account wide so you can start and play as many characters as you need across all servers if you can't spend real life money at this time.

    Re: New with questions

I would advice on postponing the purchase of the Forsaken inn. Its scalable 3man instance, soits meant for a 3 persons in a group, so you need 2 other persons to do it on level. Its soloable, but only by setting it a way below your own level, and not all sidequests can be soloable, since some request having partners, and like said before, some request even a special set of partners to accomplish it.

Getting Evendim QP would be my first priority instead, as Evendim starts ar level 25 (Oatbarton quests). After that, Forochel/Angmar/Misty Mountains, for the 40ties and preparations for Moria. If you get extra TP and have these covered, NorthDowns and Trollshaws, since the atmosphere.

Thank you, Turbine, for listening and giving us an opt-out of FE! Good work!

You can't out level the forsaken inn, it's a scalable instance so when you create it you decide what level you want to play it at. However it is a 3-man instance, so you can't set it to solo. You can however solo it by just setting it to a lower level (unless you feel invincible ) and going in alone.

It comes with various deeds, some of which can only be completed in a group. At least one of those deeds even requires a specific group setup (tank/healer/dps I think, so a tank + 2dps couldn't get it).

It's an interesting instance, dominantly about solving riddles and dodging traps with combat in between. But if you are short on TP saving for another quest pack might be more worthwhile.
